Chapter 200-5 - Mii-chan's Otherworldly Journey
Mii-chan’s Otherworldly Journey, Chapter 7
Meow, I’m Perro.
I was born in a Kettsee village and became a very skilled swordsman there.
Perro’s mom was one of the most beautiful in the village, and his dad was the best swordsman. Though he was a bit of a ladies’ cat because of his looks, he was still a good father.
I say “was” because when Perro was ten, it came to light that Dad had been cheating with Mom’s best friend, which led to a huge fight… Well, more like Mom launched an all-out attack on him. After that, Dad couldn’t stay at home and said he wanted to see the wide world, so he left on a journey. Since then, no word from him.
Mom used to say he must be living with some stray cats by now. When Perro turned fifteen, Mom officially divorced Dad with the elder’s permission and remarried the village’s chief warrior.
Perro is a perceptive Kettsee. To be considerate of his newlywed mom, he decided to go on a journey under the pretense of looking for Dad. Though, of course, I wasn’t actually looking for him.
But, Dad aside, the world is vast. Perro wanted to see it with his own eyes.
That’s what I thought at the time…
Reality, however, is harsh. Even though I was wearing clothes and speaking properly, I wasn’t allowed into towns. Why? It’s so lonely…
With no other option, I had to transform into a cat and sneak in. I thought I’d be able to sleep safely from monsters once inside a town, but no one would let me stay…
At that time, the town cats helped me out. Since we’re all part of the same feline family, they told me about people who’d give me a place to sleep or some food. It was here that Perro learned how humans live, thanks to the town cats.
To buy things, you need money. But I didn’t know how to earn it. However, the town cats would sometimes get some money from the mayor, who gave them a little of what they’d scavenged or collected. Why? Because they used that money to buy food and share it with the stray cats. That’s how Kettsee who visit towns usually earn their keep.
Perro also traveled from town to town, village to village, broadening his knowledge. There were good times and tough times.
Then, as I was walking along the road toward the next town, a butterfly flew in front of me. I started chasing it, and that’s when tragedy struck!
Perro got lost…
Before I knew it, I had wandered into the forest, and suddenly I didn’t know left from right. What a mess…
At that time, I thought I’d easily find my way back to the road.
But a day passed, then two, and eventually, my food ran out. Even as a Kettsee, I was foraging for edible nuts and fruits, but it wasn’t enough.
Finally, when I was on the verge of fainting, I caught a whiff of an irresistible smell. Following that scent, I sensed humans. I quickly hid my presence — they could be bandits.
Silently, I moved through the trees to get closer. There, I saw a young human, a horse, and… a princess.
She could only be described as a princess — a little kitten with pure white fur, radiating elegance but also irresistibly cute.
Then, I was glued to the sight of what the humans were eating. My mouth watered. I couldn’t think of anything else…
So I didn’t realize why they suddenly started packing up their belongings. All I could think was that my meal was slipping away!
Suddenly, an arrow struck the ground at their feet.
“Don’t move!”
A voice rang out, and that’s when I finally noticed there were others surrounding them.
This… this is bad! My food! Unforgivable!
The bandits were closing in on the princess, the human, and the horse. If I save the princess, surely she’ll reward me with a meal. Such a cute princess must be kind!
“Wait right there, villains! It’s a knight’s duty to save a defenseless princess!”
And then I’ll get to eat my fill!
There were about ten bandits — they were no match for Perro. As I fought, though, I realized the horse was super strong! And I don’t know what the human did, but the bandits that got close to him were sent flying… What in the world?
Before I knew it, there were no more standing bandits.
“Princess, it’s a pleasure to meet you. My name is Perro. Please remember me.”
And that’s how I had my fateful encounter with the princess, Nero, and Sumire.
At that moment, Perro found the master he would serve and lifelong friends.
Of course, after that, I was rewarded with a belly full of food. In exchange, I ended up joining them on a difficult journey, helping everyone out along the way.
But that story’s for another time!
