Chapter 191 - Mii-chan Shows Concern for Nero

191: Mii-chan Shows Concern for Nero

Letty is being showered with affectionate taps from Mii-chan, and she grins as she playfully squishes Mii-chan’s face.

I’m curious to know what Letty did to deserve that attention, but now it’s my turn. As a fellow otherworlder, I need to handle this situation with confidence. I hand Mii-chan to Letty and fasten my usual sword belt.

“Hey, isn’t that a gun on your hip?”

“Yes, it is. Why?”

“That’s cheating!”

The previously crying delinquent boy starts yelling again.

“Relax. I won’t be using the gun. I can’t exactly hold back with it.”

“So this world has guns, huh?”

“No, it doesn’t. I designed and had this one made myself.”

“A cheat from another world, huh? I guess if you know the basics, you can make it work?”

“Sis, that’s where the basics get tricky. Sure, I know the ingredients for gunpowder, but without the exact ratios or methods to obtain them, it’s impossible.”

The younger Mukouda is right. Just knowing the general idea isn’t enough. Only someone with prior preparation or genius could pull off that kind of knowledge cheat.

“By the way, I’m not using gunpowder. So, the power is slightly weaker than a real one.”

“No gunpowder…?”

“Anyway, no need to worry. I’ve already shared this information with the Hunter’s Guild in this country. With proper training, more people should be able to use it.”

The handsome guy carries something resembling a katana. When he unsheathes it, the moonlight reflects off the blade, revealing its beauty.

“This sword has been passed down in my family for generations. It bears no name, but it’s said to be made by the Nagasone school.”

Oh, Nagasone, huh? Seems like Perro’s beloved sword just found its real counterpart.

“Nero, aren’t you going to ready your weapon?”

“No point in doing so. I wouldn’t be much use even if I did.”

“You’re underestimating me.”

The handsome guy raises his katana overhead and swings it down. A chill runs down my spine as my intuition skill sets off alarms.

“!?”

Sensing danger, I dive to the side and roll away. Something flies past where I was standing, leaving a deep line in the ground.

Did he just send a slash flying!? If that had hit me, it would’ve been fatal…

“Were you trying to kill me just now?”

“What are you talking about? I figured you’d dodge, so I went for it. After all, beating me should be easy for you, right?”

The handsome guy’s face twists into a vile, sleazy grin. Is this his true face? Has he already fallen into darkness, or was he rotten from the start?

If that attack had landed, I’d probably be dead by now. And he didn’t even hesitate… this isn’t good.

“What’s wrong? If you won’t come at me, I’ll come to you. Here I go.”

He’s fast. All I can do is roll away to dodge. This guy is dangerous.

“Mii-chan, Letty! Retreat! Jin, take everyone else and run!”

“Mii!”

“Understood.”

“Y-yeah!”

Mukouda and his sister are with Glenhart and Rosalinde. As Jin rushes towards Okumura and the delinquent boy, a man suddenly appears between them, carried by a gust of wind.

“Whoa there, we can’t have you taking this hero away, Jin.”

“Dusk!”

I’ve seen this guy somewhere before, but I can’t remember. Not that it matters—I’m too busy dodging the handsome guy’s, or rather, Dark Endou’s, relentless attacks. Even my air cannons are being sliced apart.

“Tch, so he’s one of the Five Heavenly Lightning Generals, huh? Just one of them is a hassle enough… Maybe we should give up on that side and assume they’re dead. Heroes, let’s retreat.”

“Shut up, you pest! Go if you want, but I’m going to kill this guy!”

Sigh “Jin, we’re pulling out.”

“Dusk! Why are you here!?”

Ignoring Jin’s question, the man called Dusk pulls something from his chest and throws it into the air. In the next moment, there’s a loud bang and a flash of light. Things just keep getting worse.

No choice now. I draw my gun and shoot Dark Endou in the leg.

“Argh! Y-you bastard! I’ll kill you! I swear I’ll kill you!”

Everyone has mounted their horses. I run and leap onto the horse Letty is riding. Once I’m on, Jin and the others start galloping away. In the distance, I can hear the sound of more horses, likely from the rebel army. I activate an earth skill, creating two trenches 50 meters long, 50 centimeters wide, and 20 centimeters deep.

My body feels heavy. I might have pushed myself too far with that last skill.

“Mii…”

“It’s fine, I’m just a little tired.”

Mii-chan, concerned, leaps from Letty’s shoulder onto mine and starts licking my face.

“Hold on tight, boy! We’re not out of danger yet!”

Haha… I’ll do my best.

Or so I thought, but within a few minutes, my head feels unbearably heavy. This is bad…

“Mii…”

Mii-chan looks at me with concern, peering into my face. Her warmth is the only thing keeping me conscious.

I’m not sure how long we rode, but Letty’s horse eventually stops. I notice more people around us now. Sometime along the way, Sumire joined us. If she’s here, then this place must be safe.

Sorry, but I can’t stay conscious any longer…

“Mii…”
