The sixth prince, who had been executed in the kingdom after being betrayed by the trusted saint, was reincarnated and, in order to seek revenge, became engaged once again to the neighboring kingdom’s “Guillotine Princess.” As a result, he was adored and lived happily.

Chapter 3 Sparring with a Knight

**”Huff… Huff…!”**

I gasped for breath, overwhelmed by the memories of that fateful day, reliving it all over again. Yes, I had returned, back to that day—the day that led to everything falling apart, the day she met her tragic end.

**”Ahaha…”**

When I woke up and realized I had been sent back to the morning of the engagement announcement three years ago, I couldn’t help but burst into laughter. After all, I had been given a second chance to right the wrongs, to avert the tragedy that had befallen her.

**”For that, I mustn’t make any mistakes.”**

The kingdom had meticulously prepared for this day, the day three years from now when they would seize control of the capital. They had used my status as the future husband of Princess Abigail to further their ambitions.

But now, with my knowledge of their plans, I could dismantle their schemes one by one.

More than anything, I could finally learn the continuation of her words, the words she had left unfinished that day.

**”To achieve that, I have to train myself.”**

During my first life, I had been too scared to leave my room, too terrified to face the kingdom. I had nightmares and woke up screaming, haunted by the memories of that day.

**”Well, that’s all in the past now.”**

I clenched my fists, determined to make the most of this opportunity.

**”But the engagement with Princess Abigail is still three months away.”**

I had time to prepare. I needed to become strong enough to protect her. After all, there were many in the kingdom who still resented me for being the illegitimate son, and I couldn’t rely solely on the knights assigned to guard me.

**”However, I have to train my body.”**

But not just for my own sake. It was to protect her—so that I would never have to witness her tragic fate again.

**”Let’s get started, then.”**

I left my room and headed to the training grounds where the knights were practicing. The knights of Strasclide Kingdom viewed me with suspicion, as I was the son of their enemy, but I had no desire to join their ranks.

**”I have to train so that I can become stronger.”**

As I began my training regimen, the knights watched me with curiosity. I had some experience with swordsmanship from my first life, but my physical abilities had regressed since that day.

**”I need to train harder.”**

I continued to swing my wooden sword, counting the repetitions in my mind.

**”Nine hundred eighty-one… nine hundred eighty-two…”**

The knights exchanged glances, some of them clearly doubting my abilities. But I didn’t mind their skepticism; I had a goal to achieve.

**”Nine hundred ninety-eight… nine hundred ninety-nine… one thousand!”**

I completed my one thousandth swing and dropped to my knees, panting heavily. My body wasn’t as fit as it used to be, and I was exhausted.

**”Ha… ha… ha… the next… one…”**

But I couldn’t rest for long. I had to keep pushing myself.

**”Clyde, would you mind if I sparred with you?”**

A knight approached me, a mocking expression on his face. He knew I wasn’t well-liked among the palace knights, but I didn’t care.

**”Thank you; I appreciate it.”**

I took my wooden sword again and followed the knight to the center of the training grounds.

**”Let’s begin,”** he said.

**”I’m sorry, but I think it’s already over,”** I replied.

**”What do you mean?”** he asked, puzzled.

**”Like this!”**

Before he could react, I closed the distance between us and disarmed him.

**”Oops… I think I started too soon,”** I said with a smirk.

He glared at me, clearly angered by my actions.

**”Let’s start again,”** he said.

**”Sure, let’s do that.”**

He raised his wooden sword and charged at me.

**”Here we go!”** I parried his attacks, but he was clearly more skilled and agile than I was. I was being pushed back.

**”Come on, what’s wrong? This isn’t training!”** he taunted.

But he didn’t realize that I was holding back. I knew I had to be careful, especially with my upcoming engagement with Princess Abigail.

**”It’s time to end this,”** I thought.

I blocked one of his strikes and swiftly aimed for his throat with the hilt of my wooden sword.

**”No!”** he gasped, choking.

He dropped his weapon, clutching his throat, and fell to the ground.

**”Someone get him to the infirmary!”** another knight shouted.

I watched as they carried him away, his face pale and bloodshot.

**”I’ve reduced the number of enemies by one,”** I thought, satisfied.

**”No, it’s my turn!”** another

knight shouted.

**”Me first!”** another chimed in.

But their enthusiasm was short-lived.

**”That’s enough,”** the vice-commander of the palace knights said, putting an end to the sparring.

**”You should stop for now, too, Prince Clyde,”** he added.

I gave him a defiant look before returning to my training, knowing that I had made progress today.
