40. It’s Alive!
…
… Is this the part where I manically laugh or something?
I don’t know.
It looks like a normal eagle.
At first Glance, but still.
The difference is that the Thorax is a bit more swollen and the Tongue is different.
And the Behaviour isn’t very Eagle-like.
Now, the Skills.
Mimicry Lv. 1-5 |
The ability to mimic other Creatures or things, only in Behaviour. The closer the Monster looks to the Object of Mimicry, the easier other mistake them. Increases Precision of Transformations into other Creatures or object. Effect increases with Level. |
Not what I need, but I guess it showed some doors I hadn’t considered.
Flight Lv 1-10 |
To be able to better Fly. It enhances all around aspects of flight, but stability and precision are the most enhanced. The Monster needs to be able to Fly. Effect increases with Level. |
Sniping Lv 1-5 |
Increases Precision with Projectile Attacks from the Distance. Needs to be well aimed and not done in haste. Needs to be clearly aware of the Targets Position. Precision increases with Level. |
Swarming Lv 1-5 |
To call different Monster to attack one Target. Monster needs to be aggressive against the Opponent. Needs to have a connection to other Monster to call them. How other Monster get called depends on Monster. Effect and Range increases with Level. |
Avoidance Lv 1-10 |
The ability to move outside of areas where attacks are likely to occur. Benefit to Dodging Attacks. Needs to be aware of the Threat and Method of Attack. Effect increases with Level. |
Dodging Lv 1-10 |
The Ability to narrowly avoid Attacks or sources of Damage. Needs to be aware of the Threat and Method of Attack. Effect increases with Level. |
Erratic Flight Lv 1-5 |
To Fly in a way that makes it hard to predict where one goes. The Flight is more straining on the Stamina and can make on sometimes unable to avoid attacks. Gets enhanced with Skill which makes it harder to predict one’s move. Slightly enhanced Skill about avoiding Attacks. Slightly Counter Skills based on Predicting others. Effect increases with Level. |
I think I refrain from Sniping.
The nature of the Poison makes it better when there are many attacks.
Swarming will make the Creature a real challenge since it makes it harder to predict to pick them out.
When one comes after you, one can expect ten more, or something.
It makes also more use of the slightly corrosive nature.
I think I refrain from any Skill to dodge, too, in that case.
When they swarm one, one will have a target rich environment.
Not worth to invest in dodging. On the other side, avoidance can make them vary of AOE.
When I understood it right, Avoidance is more about not being there to be attacked instead of not getting hit.
So, should I take it? When I understood it right, Monster commonly don’t change their behaviour.
The Dungeon Master also have limited Control.
So wouldn’t Avoidance make it a Monster which can learn?
Hmmm. I guess I take it at level one, then.
Things like erratic Flight or Dodging would make it harder to predict to pick out the last one, but I refrain.
When one could go as far as killing the a Swarm of them without dying, the single ones wouldn’t make much of a difference.
Yes, over Time, the corpses would stack, but how much would be the increase in cost to make it worth?
Anyway, I guess it leaves Flight.
I’m gonna take it. I don’t see any reason not to.
And when I understood precision right, then they will probably be less likely to collide.
I hope they won’t, but one can never be sure enough.
Or should I take a different skill which makes them collaborate, instead?
No, a different time, maybe.
This one is a Monster which can cause already enough trouble.
I also think that the Level of skill someone would need to end the swarm when fighting as a team would be to high.
So high that they can take countermeasures against the poison.
Especially since it isn’t that potent.
Sooo, Flight Level 1, 300 Gold, Swarming Level 2, 800 Gold and Avoidance Level 1 600 Gold.
1700 Gold. Cheap, but it isn’t all.
I plan some kind of poison skill. Why shouldn’t I? I would be stupid not think of making use of that.
Now now, which one should I take.
I plan on only one, but when some look good, maybe I take two?
To nasty, to specific, to unspecific, not what I am looking for, better for an all poison Monster…
And this one!
Poisoned Vomit Lv 1-5 |
The Ability to go it most of one’s poison and Vomit and spit it at a Target. Depending on Monster, the Vomit will have different kinds of effect, but will always synergies with the Poison. The Monster need to be able to produce/store and spit Poison, and a digestive System being able to Vomit. The Monster can also only spit out poison, but for that all of that in one. Effect of Synergy increases with Level. |
Devious. And disgusting.
But exactly what the Bird needs.
I don’t think the Bird has actually the dexterity to slit out poison through its Tongue and influence where it lands better then the Cardinal Direction.
I don’t know if sniping would help.
Yeah, increase precision and all, but I don’t think aiming carefully with every bird is the right approach.
I already concluded that swarming would make more of the properties.
And to guarantee a hit, why not make use of the Swarming and overwhelm the intruders with attacks.
The Solution actually feels pretty brute force.
Well, it is, but still.
One can also argue that it was a design Failure of mine to make a Poison spitting Creature which can’t actually aim well.
One the other Hand, I learned something.
With the right skill to brute force things, I can undo my failures.
No, I should learn from my mistakes, but it doesn’t mean the bird is an worthless unit.
On the opposite, a unit which can blanket an area with corrosive Poison from the Air sound pretty powerful.
Maybe I should try to make Monster with a bit more Grace, but Grace won’t kill a thing. I think.
And no one can fault me for making use of what I have.
Poisoned Vomit costs 400 Gold, by the Way.
