Chapter 17: Cerulean City Gym
After reaching Cerulean City, Ethan headed straight for the Pokémon Center.
As they entered, Nurse Joy greeted them with a warm smile.
"Welcome to the Cerulean City Pokémon Center! How can I help you today?" she asked.
"I'd like to book a room, please," Ethan replied.
Nurse Joy quickly handled the booking, and soon Ethan found himself in a cozy room.
He unzipped his bag, carefully taking out the Dragonite egg and placing it gently near his bed.
His excitement about the egg's imminent hatching was palpable.
"I can't wait to see you hatch," Ethan said softly to the egg, his eyes shining with anticipation.
With the egg settled, Ethan decided to head to the Poké Mart to buy ingredients for his Pokémon's food.
Eevee, as always, stayed close, occasionally darting ahead to sniff at something interesting.
Inside the Poké Mart, Ethan filled his basket with a variety of ingredients, making sure to stock up on a large supply of fairy-type ingredients for Cleffa, who had quite the appetite.
He also picked up some special treats for Eevee and the rest of his team.
After checking out at the counter, Ethan returned to his room.
As he was putting away the groceries, Cleffa suddenly popped out of its Pokéball, hopping onto Ethan's lap and giving gentle nudges.
Ethan chuckled, immediately understanding what Cleffa wanted.
"Hungry again, huh?" he asked, smiling.
He quickly prepared some food and handed it to Cleffa, who began eating with gusto.
While Cleffa ate, Ethan petted it affectionately and scan it with his Pokédex.

Cleffa looked up from its meal, its eyes sparkling with joy.
Ethan continued to pet it, feeling a deep sense of contentment.
As Cleffa finished eating, it curled up in Ethan's lap, quickly falling asleep.
Eevee jumped up onto the bed, finding a comfortable spot to lie down.
Ethan gently moved Cleffa to a soft pillow near the bed, ensuring it was comfortable.
He then lay down himself, staring up at the ceiling, thinking about the day's events.
From receiving a Dragonite egg to meeting Professor Oak and Lance again, it had been a day full of surprises.
Closing his eyes, Ethan drifted off to sleep, dreaming of the adventures yet to come.
Ethan woke up to the gentle nudges of Cleffa, who seemed to be hungry again.
Smiling, he quickly prepared some food for Cleffa, who eagerly began eating.
Turning to Eevee, Ethan noticed she seemed a bit down.
"Hey, Eevee, what's wrong?" he asked gently, reaching out to pet her.
Eevee turned away, avoiding his touch.
Ethan frowned, understanding what was happening. "Are you feeling a little left out?" he asked softly. "Come here, Eevee."
When she still didn't respond, Ethan moved closer, scooping her up gently despite her squirming.
He held her close and said, "Eevee, you know you're my first Pokémon and my best friend, right? Just because I'm giving attention to Cleffa and the others doesn't mean you're any less important to me."
Eevee paused, looking up at him with wide eyes. Ethan smiled, hugging her tighter. "You've always been there for me, Eevee. I wouldn't be where I am without you."
He chuckled, adding, "Don't make me get all mushy, okay? You're special to me, and you always will be."
Eevee seemed to relax in his arms, her eyes softening. She nuzzled his cheek affectionately.
Suddenly, a warm glow surrounded her, and Ethan watched in amazement as the light grew brighter and enveloped her completely.
When the glow faded, Eevee had evolved into a Sylveon. Ethan's eyes widened in surprise and joy. "Eevee! You evolved!"
Sylveon wrapped her ribbon-like feelers around Ethan's arm, her eyes shining with happiness.
"Sylveon~," she purred, clearly pleased with her new form.
Ethan laughed, stroking her fur. "You're incredible, Eevee. I'm so proud of you."
He then added with a smile, "I guess I should start calling you Sylveon now, huh?"
"Sylveon~," she responded, purring even louder.
"Alright, Sylveon," Ethan said, standing up. "Let's head to the training ground. We need to get Scyther ready for our gym battle today."
Sylveon nodded enthusiastically, "Sylveon~!"
They made their way to the Pokémon Center's training grounds. Ethan released Scyther from his Poké Ball. Scyther appeared with a flash, blades gleaming in the sunlight.
"Scyther!" he cried, flexing his scythes.
"Alright, Scyther," Ethan began, "we've got a gym battle ahead of us. Let's put in some serious training."
Ethan and Scyther went through various drills, focusing on speed, agility, and attack precision. Sylveon watched from the sidelines, cheering them on.
"Great job, Scyther! Keep it up!" Ethan encouraged as Scyther sliced through targets with incredible speed.
"Scyyther!" Scyther responded, his confidence growing with each successful hit.
After an intense training session, Ethan called for a break. "Alright, Scyther, that's enough for now. You did great."
Scyther landed gracefully, looking pleased with his progress. "Scyther!"
Ethan patted Scyther on the shoulder. "You're ready for this, buddy. Let's head to the Cerulean City Gym."
He returned Scyther to his Poké Ball and started walking towards the gym, Sylveon walking beside him.
Ethan strode into the Cerulean City Gym, taking in the sight of the water-themed battlefield with its pool and circular platforms for Pokémon.
The gym was unusually quiet, devoid of any other challengers.
Approaching the counter, Ethan was greeted by a cheerful receptionist who efficiently processed his request.
"You're in luck! We have an opening for a battle right now. Please proceed to the battle area."
Ethan nodded in thanks and made his way towards the poolside where three confident figures stood waiting.
Lily, Daisy, and Violet—known as the Sensational Sisters—turned to face him with smirks.
"Well, well, well, looks like we've got a challenger," Daisy said, her voice dripping with confidence.
Ethan maintained a focused expression, silently preparing for the challenge ahead.
Violet chuckled. "You think you can handle us? You're just a fresh face around here."
Lily stepped forward, her gaze sharp. "Let's not waste any time. We'll show you what the Sensational Sisters are made of."
As Ethan approached, a referee emerged from the sidelines, holding up a flag in each hand to gather attention.
"Welcome to the Cerulean City Gym! Today's match will be a three-on-three Pokémon battle.
The challenger, Ethan from Pallet Town, will face the gym leaders, the Sensational Sisters.
Only the challenger is permitted to switch Pokémon during the battle.
The match will continue until all of one side's Pokémon are unable to battle.
Trainer, are you ready?"
Ethan nodded firmly.
The Sensational Sisters exchanged knowing glances. "Let's see what you're made of," Violet teased, arms crossed confidently.
"We're not holding back," Daisy added with a smirk. "Prepare yourself."
With a nod to the referee, Ethan and the Sensational Sisters took their positions, ready to begin the battle.
