Chapter 53: 53. Meeting with Incognito 1/2
Chapter 53
The next morning.
Integra office.
Integra sat in her office, calmly drinking a cup of tea, completely relaxed, something that had rarely happened in the last few years.
"Haah, although I wouldn't mind relaxing," Integra began with a sigh.
"But doing this because they're trying to fire me is unacceptable!" the woman suddenly became enraged and, hitting the table with her palm, accidentally applied too much force and broke off a piece.
- Damn. These amulets are good, of course, but this is the second table in a week. - Integra was upset, and then clutching her head, she complained. - Why, I have to wait for the damn mercenaries to get back to work.
The sound of the door opening instantly interrupted her complaints. It was Walter, who was carrying her usual breakfast of sausages, scrambled eggs, toast and grape jam. This managed to bring a smile back to her face for a moment, but the next moment it took on its usual cold expression.
- Sir, I have your breakfast and some more tea. Do you want to eat it now or should I wait until you finish? - Walter's gaze fell on the damaged part of the table, but he did not comment on it.
- I don't have much work now, Walter. There are hardly any soldiers left, after all.
"I think Lieutenant Fox would be disappointed to hear you say that," said the butler, setting out the plates.
- Hmm, speaking of Lieutenant Fox...
- Sir?
- He had a little falling out with Seras, and I think he's still angry.
- What happened? - Walter asked, filling a cup with tea.
- He lost one of the soldiers, Seras got angry about it and, apparently, used hypnosis on him. - Although Integra spoke about it as if it were something insignificant, she still could not completely get rid of the jealousy in her voice.
- Apparently? So you don't know if she did it?
- Oh no, I know exactly what I did. I just didn't expect her to know how to do it. - Integra answered, eating a piece of scrambled eggs.
- Alucard says she learns very quickly. Maybe she did it by accident.
- I think so too, if she wanted to do something, it would have been done in a less roundabout way. - the girl snorted.
- Heh. That's a good way to put it. - Walter chuckled.
- My God. You are talking about my chick behind my back. How could you leave me out? - a loud echo intervened.
- ... Alucard. Why are you stopping me from eating? - Integra sighed.
"And what will you eat?" asked the vampire, appearing in the chair.
- Regular food. You wouldn't like that. - She demonstratively took a large bite of sausage to tease.
- Of course not. It looks and smells absolutely disgusting. - Alucard grimaced. - No offense, Walter.
"Of course," the butler smiled in response.
- So, what did you say about the policewoman?
- Oh yeah. We were talking about that incident with the lieutenant and the soldier she saved.
- Oh, he.
"I sense jealousy on your part, Alucard?" Integra asked mockingly.
- Nonsense. I just don't think that boy was worth going that far with. - The vampire said irritably.
- I don't want to say it, but I agree with you on this.
- Hahaha, and you're telling me about jealousy? - Alucard laughed.
- Oh, go to hell, - Integra snapped.
- Be more active, otherwise you might lose to an ordinary soldier. - the vampire chuckled before disappearing.
Evening
Integra's Bedroom
Opening my eyes, the first thing I noticed was that I still really wanted to sleep, and seeing that there were still four whole hours until sunset, I was already thinking about putting my head back on the pillow to fall asleep again, but then I remembered something.
- Today was supposed to be the moment when Incognito would attack Helena. So maybe I should go there and wait for him? - Having expressed this thought, I got out of bed more cheerfully and went to take a shower, after which, using the recently mastered ability, I was able to create clothes on myself in the same way as Alucard did, not forgetting to cover my cat ears with a hat.
- This will be interesting. - I smiled before moving straight to the entrance of the apartment complex where Helena lived and went inside. As I was about to go to the elevator, a voice stopped me.
- Miss? - the man called me from behind the table.
- Yes?
- May I help you?
- Ah... No, I'm fine. - I answered and continued walking towards the elevator.
- Sorry, but you can't pass until you sign. - the man stopped me again.
- Signature? Why? - I asked, tilting my head slightly.
- … Because… it has to be that way.
- What if I don't want to?
- Then you won't be able to go upstairs.
- Hmmm... - I put my hand on my chin, pretending to be thinking hard.
- No.
- Sorry?
- I won't sign and I'll go upstairs. You can't stop me. - I grinned widely, showing him my fangs.
-… are you retarded? Don't think that I won't kick you out just because you're a girl. - the irritated man left the table and was about to grab my hand.
However, the next moment, I looked him straight in the eyes and, parodying a Jedi, I held my hand in front of his face and said, "Everything is fine."
"What's good…" At first the guard was even more irritated by my words, but then his face became impassive and his eyes turned red.
- Everything is fine.
"Everything… is good," the man repeated slowly, starting to smile.
- Nobody showed up. You didn't see anyone.
- No one showed up. I didn't see anyone. - the man repeated after me and headed back to the table. And I went to the elevator.
After a while, when the elevator doors closed and he headed up, the man's eyes returned to normal and he shook his head.
- Wow. This job is boring, of course, but I can't afford to fall asleep. I need caffeine urgently.
As I walked up the elevator, I couldn't help but question what I was doing. After all, Alucard couldn't handle Incognito in his base form, so he's just incredibly strong. But I have the ability to instantly teleport, and I doubt the Major has found a countermeasure yet, and even if he did, he wouldn't waste it on a pet he doesn't care about. So I should be fine.
When the elevator doors opened, I was faced with a view of a clearly unkempt garden.
"Hmm. Looks like Helena left here a lot earlier than I thought." I muttered, picking up a couple of leaves from the ground before heading inside the house.
The house was completely dark, due to the extinguished candles, and the furniture was covered with sheets.
- Well, all that's left is to wait? - removing the sheet from the chair where Helena usually sat, I sat down in it and took a book from the shelf and began to read.
I spent several hours reading the book until I finally felt a change in the atmosphere behind me.
"Finally. I'm tired of waiting." I thought with a smile. And the next moment, a gray hand pierced the chair where my heart is located.
