The rise of the King cobra

Chapter 10: I hate this city

I didn't know how long I was asleep for, but I could feel myself waking up. But before I could move, I heard the voice of Viktor.

"Whoa there, just sit tight bud." He said and placed his hand on my chest, holding me down.

"Let me just link up your new eyes." A few tapping sounds later, I could finally see the light.

Except, I didn't see Viktor in front of me, I only saw myself in front of me, with some wires inside my sockets.

The eyes I had bought were placed on a tray, far away from my body. To the side, I could see my organic ones floating in a glass tube,

It was odd to say the least, since my new eyes were on a metal tray, I thought this might be a health code violation.

"Mind if I ask something?" Viktor hummed at my question.

"Be my guest." He grumbled while slowly pulling out the wires from my sockets.

"Since you have my eyes linked, isn't it unsanitary to have them out in the open?" Viktor just chuckled and grabbed one of them.

Causing my sight to be split, one of the eyes were being inserted, and I heard small clicked inside my skull.

"Well, I wouldn't really be a ripper doc if I hadn't have this place sanitized now, would I?" I only clicked my tongue in annoyance.

"Your deflecting the question." Viktor just sighed and grabbed the other eye, slowly inserting it inside.

"Fine, each implant is surrounded in a cleaning solution, that keeps it sanitized until the implant is installed. However, this comes with some draw backs." He said and took a step back, observing me for any symptoms.

Once I had a better view, I began to look left, then right. Moving the new implants around. I had to admit, I was able to see better, thanks to the new implant.

However, it didn't take long for me to feel any discomfort from the implants. I could feel something itchy inside my head, I was about to reach up and rub my eyes, but Vittore grabbed my wrist.

"Hold on now, that's just a side effect. Here, take this, pump twice." He handed my a type of inhaler, which I took, then I pumped it twice and inhaled it.

"This is a type of medication after installing implants, so make sure take two more in an hour, overall, your good." He said and helped me stand up.

I then stood up and sighed, feeling the discomfort slowly fade. Only to feel nauseous in the next second, but soon the feeling faded away.

"Ah, forgot about that." He chuckled, I could only roll my eyes at his small joke and sighed, taking a few minutes to let other symptoms pass.

"So, what do I owe you?" I asked while I continued to move the eyes.

"Only fifteen thousand eddies, it's the cheapest one at the moment, plus that's with the discount." Hearing the price I was surprised on how expensive the implants are.

But with the discount, it made me feel slightly better. Once I had transferred the money to him, he extended his hand, which I grabbed it and shook it.

"Pleasure doing business, come by anytime when you want any new implants or if you have some, swing by so I can install it for you." I nodded in return and said my goodbyes.

As I walked up the stairs, I saw Jackie waiting for me behind Misty's shop. He was leaning on the shop, narrowing his eyes at me.

One hand was in his jacket, while the other was twirling a bullet. His arm was tense, gripping onto the gun he had when I first appeared.

"Relax, I only came to get some implants." I tried to diffuse the tension, but he kept quiet while looking at me.

I could tell he was still cautious of me, since I did come in with a calm attitude. Which was a good thing.

Barely a week had passed since I had arrived, I had to deal with some people who tried to rob me.

If I had a nickel for every time I was robbed in this week alone, I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird it happened twice.

But for the others, it's the norm for them. Since everyone adult has a gun hidden, or a combat implant in case something happens.

"It's good that you are vigilant, but always remember one thing." I said and was about to leave.

"Oh yeah, what's that?" I placed my hand in his shoulder, and I could see his entire body tense.

"Know who you are dealing with, before you try to intimidate them." I whispered, his brow began to show drops of sweat, while his arm shook.

I then moved my arm away, causing him to land on his knees, breathing heavily. He then raised his head to look at me, his eyes filled with fear.

"Who the fuck are you?" I only smiled and tilted my head, wearing a mask that showed kindness.

"Just a plain choom roaming the streets." I left him there on the floor and waved goodbye to Misty.

Who looked away in fear, I only left a small roll of eddies on the counter and smiled at her. She was surprised at what I did, but I didn't give her the chance to say thanks.

After leaving the shop, I began to walk towards my car. At the same time, I began to see the city in a different light, literally.

It was odd how I was able to see, since I had discarded my organic eyes, I expected it to be useless.

But I guess I was wrong, it was something extraordinary for me. I could see everything clearly, the small cracks on the walls, the wrinkles on my clothes, even the small lines on my fingers.

What truly surprised me, was the feature to zoom in, I could see many signs that were far away more clearly.

Sadly, that was all I could do, since I didn't ask for more. But I was satisfied with what I have, and I can't risk getting more implants.

As I arrived at my car, I entered it and began to drive to city center. I was curious on how it looked, since it was close to the large corporation buildings.

As I pulled out and began to drive, I made sure to have my pistols armed and loaded. Since I had seen on the news that some people tried to cause fire fights on the road.

I was about to pull up to the entrance on one of the highway, but two cars passed by. One was a small group of thieves, while the other was a cop car.

The two vehicles drove by quickly, passing by. I had to swerve to the side to not get hit, but my windshield wasn't as lucky.

A stray bullet struck my windshield, causing a bit of glass to enter. I covered my face just in time to not get any glass on my eyes.

"Fuck, did this have to happen to me?" I asked myself and pulled over, once I had exited my car, I began to look at the damage.

While being distracted, some people began to sneak up from behind. One was a woman, who had a bag in her hands, wanting to cover my face.

While the other was a man, who had a baseball in their hands, they kept quiet while walking towards me. However, with the glass shattered and some parts of it cracked, I could see them coming from behind.

The two snakes on my fingers began to wrap themselves around my arms, covering them with their body.

As soon as the man raised the bat, I raised my arm behind me. Blocking the strike, with the both of them being stunned, I quickly wiped my free arm toward his neck.

The snake slithered off my arm and around his neck, while the woman, who finally snapped back tried to pull out a gun.

Only for me to thrust my palm into her chest, knocking the wind out of her. As she stumbled back, the snake jumped off my arm onto her neck, coiling around their necks until they couldn't breath.

As they struggled and tried to pry them off, I called Padre, since I was still in Heywood. After waiting for a few rings, he soon answered.

"Cobra, a pleasure to talk to you, how can I help?" He asked, I sat on the hood of my car, looking at the two people.

"Padre, I wanted to ask if you knew someone who can help me replace my windshield." I said, the woman tried to reach for my leg, only for me to push it away.

The both of them belonged to sixth street, since they had the same clothes as the rest of the gang members.

"Hmm, what car do you need fixed?" The man soon stood up and tried ti swing at me, only for me to dodge, which was a mistake on my part.

The bat slammed on the roof of my car, creating a small dent on it. I swore out loud at grabbed the bat, swinging it on his face.

"Quadra sixty six, type avenger." I said and tossed the bat away, leaving the man with his skull caved.

"I see, you'll need to head more north, since down here, people will try to inflate their prices." He sent me a location to an honest car shop.

"Thank you, I shall be waiting for the next job." I said and ended the call, staring at the two corpses underneath me.

"If there are others here, show yourselves." At the end of my shouting, more members appeared.

"Mother fucker." I sighed and raised my arms for a fight, both the sixth street members and I rushed towards each other.

Some jumping up, while others shot their guns. There was five of them, and one of me, I didn't like the odds, since I had more experience with hand to hand combat.

In front of me were two women, one with a knife, while the other was holding a bat. I decided to fight the one with the knife first, since she had less reach.

"Care for a dance?" I asked the woman, she only spit at the ground at my question and ran towards me.

"I was just being nice." She thrusted the knife forward, but I spun my body around, dodging the knife.

At the corner of my eye, I saw a bat heading towards my legs. I jumped to avoid it, only to land on my feet and leaned backwards, avoiding the bullets that flew above me.

"Okay, everyone will have a turn, just be patient." I said and focused back on the knife user.

She slashed the air a few times, missing me completely. I was walking backwards so they wouldn't damage my car, once we were far enough, I decided to fight back.

The woman ran towards me once more with knife aimed forward once again, only for me to step to the side while tripping her.

"Have a nice fall." I activated the blades that hid in my arms and swung downwards. Stabbing her from behind, and using the other to decapitate her.

"Now then, shall we dance?" I asked while facing the remaining four, seeing me have combat implants, they took a step back.

"Sorry to disappoint, but this dance is over!" Shouted one of the members, who began to fire at me.

I had rolled to the side and began to run towards them, I stayed low in order to not be a big target and rushed at the woman with the bat.

"I'm not one to talk, but I'm not in a good mood." I then raised my arm, faking an upper cut.

Only for the blade to cut her in half, as both halves spitted apart. I saw one of the bullets changing direction every few seconds.

I dove to the side, only to see it curve and flying towards me. I was surprised to see this happen, but I didn't bother to admire it just yet.

I pushed myself to the side quickly, taking cover behind a random car. As the bullet landed on the car, a few more appeared.

All curving in the air and aimed at me, I panicked at the sight and began to roll along the car.

Each bullet landing on the spot where I was, I placed the two blades away and called for the snakes.

Who quickly jumped onto my arm, I slammed my arms together to create a shield. Which was just in time, since more bullets began to fly towards me.

The sound of metal hitting metal was heard, and I saw the bullets landing on my lap after loosing their momentum.

"Well then, it was fun while it lasted, but it's time for me to go." I had one of the snakes curl themselves as a wheel and had them roll in front of the group.

The four gang members all looked at the snake in confusion, only for its back to pop open.

And small darts flew out, hitting them and other objects around us. After the darts had stopped firing, I stood up and made my way passed them.

"Have a nice day." I said to their now limped bodies. As I had arrived in front of my car, I saw the dent and broken windshield.

"I hate this city so, so much." I sighed and entered it, driving towards the northern district to check the price to fix both problems.

(A/N) Hey, hey, here's the second chapter I was supposed to upload. I'm starting to get back into my writing state, slowly.
