20: Mutual Convergence
Upon returning home, Ye Xing immediately flopped onto the bed and rolled around several times.
Ye Lan had been held up by Ling Miao for a long time, causing her to return late, but she should be home soon.
Every night, what Ye Xing looked forward to most was playing games together with both bodies, then cuddling and sleeping in each other’s arms. It never got old.
Of course, the prerequisite was to fill their stomachs first.
Ye Xing suddenly felt she didn’t need to order takeout.
It would be better to have Ye Lan bring something back, as it would be safer.
But she was very hungry now, wishing Ye Lan could instantly teleport home so she could pounce on her like a hungry tiger and devour the late-night snack she brought back.
“How much longer…”
At this moment, her doorbell suddenly rang.
Ye Xing tilted her head in confusion, “Hm? Strange, my other self hasn’t come back yet, who could it be?”
Ye Xing lightly jumped off the bed, then carefully walked to the door. She brought over a small stool to stand on and looked through the peephole.
“Hmm…”
She saw an unfamiliar black-haired man.
“How suspicious, could it be the legendary home intruder?”
While Ye Xing was lost in wild thoughts, the person outside spoke.
“Hello, I’m your next-door neighbor. I heard the door opening next door earlier and knew you were back. Can we get acquainted? I think it would help foster a friendly neighborly relationship, and we could help each other out in the future.”
Hearing this, Ye Xing remembered that someone had moved in next door today, and it seemed to be the black-haired young man outside the door.
So Ye Xing carefully opened the door a crack and peered at the black-haired man through the gap.
“Um… hello, my name is Ye Xing. Nice to meet you.”
“I’m Mo Tu. Ye Xing, is it? That’s a lovely name.”
“Thank you. Is there anything else?”
To be honest, Ye Xing didn’t want to develop any friendly neighborly relationship. This kind of social interaction felt troublesome; as long as they didn’t interfere with each other’s lives, it was fine.
She, being somewhat socially anxious, had such intentions.
Mo Tu didn’t seem to mind Ye Xing’s wariness and maintained his gentle smile.
“I made some snacks and ended up making a bit too much, so I thought I’d share some with you, my neighbor. If you don’t mind, please accept them.”
Then Mo Tu handed Ye Xing a small bag.
Ye Xing instinctively accepted it.
Feeling the slight warmth remaining in the bag, Ye Xing hesitated for a moment but still accepted it.
“Thank you…”
Mo Tu nodded and smiled, “You’re welcome. Consider it a welcome gift. Well then, goodbye for now.”
After saying this, Mo Tu turned and left promptly, without making any other moves that would alarm Ye Xing.
“Hmm…”
Ye Xing closed the door again, muttering, “Seems like a decent neighbor. I hope he’ll be quiet when I’m sleeping in.”
Ye Xing returned to her room, placing the snacks from her neighbor on the table, planning to play games while waiting for Ye Lan to return.
But just as she sat on the bed, her stomach protested again.
Gurgle gurgle~
“So hungry…”
Ye Xing’s face fell as she rubbed her stomach, then looked at the snacks on the table.
“It should be fine to eat a little to stave off hunger, right?”
That neighbor looked like a nice person; he shouldn’t have poisoned them or anything.
So Ye Xing opened the bag and found some cookies inside. They looked quite appetizing.
A faint aroma wafted to her nose, almost making her drool.
“They look delicious…”
Ye Xing took one and bit into it. Her eyes immediately lit up.
“Delicious! Looks like maintaining a good relationship with neighbors isn’t bad. His name was Mo Tu, right? I’ll remember that.”
There weren’t many cookies, and they weren’t very filling, but they were more than enough to temporarily stave off hunger.
At least Ye Xing felt much more energetic now.
“Time to start gaming.”
As soon as she logged on, Ye Xing saw her game friend still online, so she clicked on them.
“Want to play together?”
“Sure.”
After connecting, their daily chat began.
Ye Xing specifically used a voice changer to disguise her voice to avoid any weird misunderstandings.
“Are you playing games all day long? I see you online every time. Don’t you have to work?”
“Well… not all day long. Most of the time I can only kill time online. I don’t need to do much else because my body is a bit weak, so I can only lie in bed for long periods.”
“Simply put, you’re sick, right?”
“I suppose so.”
“Then why don’t you rest properly if you’re sick?”
“Because it’s very boring, and playing games helps me relax. I’ve been very happy during the time I’ve played with you.”
“Hehe~ You’re making me blush. I feel the same way. Playing games with you makes me very happy too.”
This is what you call mutual convergence.
Ye Xing felt a little happy.
Logically speaking, this game friend should be her first friend.
Although they had never met in person, they had been in frequent contact for a long time. Shouldn’t that count as friendship?
Now they were even saying such embarrassing things to each other. It felt like they were just short of meeting in person.
But this somewhat violated Ye Xing’s principles.
Trust is trust, but going out far from home still felt a bit unsafe.
Ye Xing thought for a moment and asked, “Which city do you live in? I don’t mean anything by it, just curious.”
“Yunzhang City.”
“Eh? You live in Yunzhang City too? So do I.”
This was truly unexpected for Ye Xing, giving her a sense of pleasant surprise.
The other person also seemed a bit surprised.
“You live in Yunzhang City too? What a coincidence. Perhaps this is our destiny.”
“Mm-hmm!”
At this moment, Ye Xing suddenly had an urge to meet this game friend.
Since they were in the same city, it shouldn’t be a problem, right?
Meeting in person would be even more convenient.
However, the other person said their body was a bit weak, so perhaps it wasn’t good for them to go out. So it seemed Ye Xing might have to make a one-sided effort.
Ye Xing tried to gather her emotions but still couldn’t bring herself to say it.
“Is your illness very serious?”
“Well… how should I put it? I don’t know if it’s serious or not, but it seems difficult to treat. So far, no useful method has been found. If it drags on any longer, I don’t know what will happen to me.”
“Eh?! Isn’t that very serious? This must be a terminal illness, right?”
“Terminal illness? I suppose it could be seen that way. But my sister said she’s found hope, maybe she’s found some treatment method.”
“Hmm… you have such a good attitude. If I had a terminal illness, I’d definitely be depressed for a long time.” Just thinking about her body having problems and having no one to take care of her made Ye Xing a bit sad.
“I’m not as amazing as you imagine. Actually, I just don’t want to worry the people around me, so it’s better to stay happy.”
“Wow… I really admire you.”
“Hearing you say that makes me a bit embarrassed. Anyway, thank you very much for chatting with me.”
“No need to thank me. I’m very grateful to you too.”
