The lantern's light created three distinct colors depending on the area it illuminated. I raised a second lantern to the same height, carefully measuring the distance to ensure the 50% effectiveness zones overlapped, hoping to achieve 100% effectiveness. When I finished, it worked! The area that previously had 50% effectiveness now matched the 100% zone. I continued placing lanterns at the correct intervals to create a safe living space free from the miasma.

While gathering materials and resources, I suddenly felt something watching me. Upon closer inspection, I saw an arrow heading straight for me. Reacting instantly, I drew my sword and sliced the arrow in two.

Following the arrow's trajectory, I ran toward its origin and found a strange goblin within the miasma.

I drew my sword and charged at the goblin. I slashed at its neck with the speed a level 10 could manage, but to my surprise, the goblin stopped my blade with its claws.

Leaping back to avoid a counterattack, I kept my distance, but when the goblin retaliated, its speed shocked me. I barely avoided its claws by a fraction of a second.

"Damn, what kind of speed is that? Are level 27 monsters really that fast?"

I pulled a shield from my storage.

"I only bought this for my collection, but what choice do I have?"

Feeling challenged by a weakling, the mutated goblin roared and charged without hesitation. But that was its weakness; when affected by the shield's taunt, all its movements became predictable to the shield's user.

Therefore, the goblin's previously blinding speed now seemed slow, allowing me to see all its movements and plunge my sword into its heart as it lunged.

The goblin, realizing it had been struck, tried to pull away, but to no avail; it died with its heart destroyed.

The reason my cheap sword could pierce the mutated goblin was due to the Aegis's weapon buff, which activates when you strike your weapon against the Aegis and then attack a taunted enemy.
