Chapter 433: Chapter 433: A Little Excitement
The set wasn't cleared. Matthew didn't care; he'd done such scenes so many times that he was indifferent to them.
As for Eva Green, this level of scene was nothing to her.
Even with the cameras rolling, neither Matthew nor Eva Green was the shy type. Having had several real-life encounters, they quickly got into the mood after a brief exchange and soon entangled passionately in front of the camera, showing remarkable chemistry.
"What..."
From the edge of the set, Megan Ellison watched the actors through the camera lens and said in surprise, "Aren't they going to make it real?"
Although David Ellison mentioned it was not suitable for minors, she was twenty and naturally wouldn't shy away.
David Ellison shrugged, "Who knows."
Megan Ellison stared intently at the pair on set. From her angle, she could see Matthew's well-defined muscular back and couldn't help but slightly open her mouth, saying, "They really look like they're going all the way."
She also studied at USC School of Cinematic Arts and had heard that such Hollywood scenes often involved lots of stops and starts, with actors inevitably feeling awkward and breaking into laughter.
But Matthew Horner and Eva Green showed no signs of awkwardness. The director didn't call cut, and they seemed ready to go all out in front of the camera and the onlookers.
David Ellison, however, wasn't surprised. He had done his research before investing in Matthew. There were precedents; during the filming of "Dawn of the Dead," Matthew reportedly had a passionate scene with Jessica Alba, and they ended up hooking up in a deserted room immediately after filming.
"Cut! Very good!"
Director Zack Snyder's voice rang out, "That's it for today's shoot. Wrap it up!"
As soon as his voice fell, David Ellison saw Matthew Horner and Eva Green hastily throw on some clothes and leave the set together. It was obvious what they were going to do.
"Where to?" Eva Green asked, "Makeup room?"
Matthew didn't head towards the makeup room but instead pulled Eva Green towards the studio door, saying, "Do you want something exciting?"
Though bold, Eva Green was cautious and slowed her pace slightly, "You're not thinking of doing it outside the studio, are you..."
"Of course not. What are you thinking, darling?" Matthew pulled her along, saying, "There are a few spare makeup trailers outside. Let's try one of those."
Since the studio experienced an electrical fault, having makeup trailers outside had become a necessity.
Matthew led Eva Green to a trailer he had used before, opened the door, and jumped in without saying a word. The makeup artist was still in the studio, so the trailer was empty. Eva Green eagerly followed, and Matthew quickly kicked the door shut.
The trailer began to rock, as if a seasoned driver was behind the wheel.
At the studio entrance, David Ellison and Megan Ellison walked towards the nearby office building. Passing by a white trailer, they heard some indescribable sounds coming from within.
The sounds seemed to be coming from a woman, fluctuating between low and high...
Megan Ellison glanced at the trailer, not embarrassed, and asked David Ellison, "Are all Hollywood stars this chaotic?"
David Ellison also looked at the trailer as they walked towards the office building, saying, "Much more chaotic. Matthew is relatively clean in his private life."
"Him? Are you kidding me?" Megan Ellison couldn't believe it, "Someone fooling around with the lead actress on set can be considered clean?"
David Ellison moved further from the trailer. Once Megan caught up, he said seriously, "He is. Matthew doesn't do drugs, doesn't abuse substances, isn't an alcoholic, doesn't have same-sex relationships, and never harasses women in the crew using his star status. By Hollywood standards, his private life is very clean."
Megan Ellison pursed her lips but said nothing.
David Ellison continued, "You want to invest in the indie film scene? Let me remind you, the indie scene is far more chaotic than mainstream Hollywood. The wildest rumors mostly come from the indie scene, and then there's Harvey Weinstein's conduct..."
He didn't continue, but Megan understood, "Do you think Harvey Weinstein would dare try something with me?"
"Even if he had ten guts, he wouldn't dare!" David Ellison scoffed.
In this aspect, he wasn't worried about Megan at all.
The two walked further away, their figures soon disappearing into the office building.
As the sun neared the horizon, the trailer door was opened from inside. Matthew came out first, followed by Eva Green. Both were still dressed as Leonidas and Queen Gorgo, though Matthew's fake beard was shorter and Eva Green's makeup was smeared.
They returned to the studio, attracting curious glances. Neither Matthew nor Eva Green paid any mind and walked confidently to their respective makeup rooms. They didn't care about being talked about, having dared to mess around on set.
Matthew was experienced in this, and Eva Green wasn't bothered either.
Most of the crew just took a look and then went back to work. Such occurrences were too common in Hollywood. Actors, being emotionally expressive, often developed feelings during filming. When the mood struck, they wouldn't hold back and would find a place for a quick and direct connection.
Back in his makeup room, Matthew found his makeup artist and Bella Anderson waiting. He sat in front of the mirror, letting the makeup artist remove his makeup.
Bella Anderson stood a bit further back, unsure of what to say.
However, she was gradually adjusting. The entire Hollywood environment was like this. If she couldn't handle such minor issues, she might as well quit early.
Moreover, another job wouldn't offer such good benefits and salary.
Once his makeup was removed, Matthew went to the changing room to switch outfits. Coming out, he saw Bella Anderson had dismissed the makeup artist and asked, "What's up?"
"Yes." Bella Anderson nodded, "Helen just called with some things for me to tell you."
Matthew sat in the chair, sipping from his cup, "Go ahead."
"The negotiations between Angels Agency and Disney Studios about the 'National Treasure' sequel have temporarily broken down." Bella Anderson got straight to the point, "Disney won't accept our offer and has decided to put the sequel project on hold for now."
"Okay." Matthew nodded.
This wasn't unexpected. The sequel to "National Treasure" had been in talks for a long time. Disney Studios and Matthew had been unsatisfied with each other's conditions. Especially after Matthew signed with the "I Am Legend" crew, Helen Herman had not lowered their demands but increased the salary requirements, which displeased Disney, leading to the project's temporary halt.
As Helen Herman had told Matthew, he was now a top star, a true box office draw. With no shortage of roles, some offers were better left unaccepted than lowering his fees.
In mainstream commercial blockbusters, voluntarily lowering one's fee was incredibly foolish.
Matthew and Helen Herman were confident in facing a fallout with Disney. Matthew currently had Warner Bros. backing him. Besides "300 Spartans," which was filming, and the upcoming "I Am Legend," Helen Herman had learned about another major project being scripted by Akiva Goldsman.
Helen Herman got some details from Warner Bros. This new project had an initial production budget of no less than $150 million and was to be produced and distributed by Warner Bros. Akiva Goldsman needed a star with strong market appeal for the lead role...
Naturally, this potential project was now on Matthew and Helen Herman's radar.
The pause in negotiations with Disney was beneficial. Matthew's schedule was packed, leaving no time or energy for the "National Treasure" sequel.
Bella Anderson continued, "Warner Bros. has set the preliminary promotion budget for '300 Spartans' at $30 million. The post-release promotion will depend on the initial response."
"I got it." Matthew just needed to be informed.
This matter was handled by Skydance Productions negotiating with Warner Bros.
"Miss Amanda has prepared the formal invitations for the charity gala." Bella Anderson checked her work log, "Helen wants you to come by tonight to personally sign all the invitations."
Matthew thought for a moment and said, "Let Brown know we'll go straight to Angels Agency, not back to Horner Manor."
Helen Herman had already sent out invitations via phone and email. Formal invitations would be mailed a month before the charity gala.
Bella Anderson finally said, "An actress named Alexandra Daddario called you. She's arrived in Los Angeles and is ready for the 'I Am Legend' audition."
