The Rich Second-Generation Villain With No Morals

Chapter 40

Chapter 40: A Hug to Mend the Rift?

Early the next morning, at six o’clock, Qi Xueyao got up.

Wearing a tweed blazer dress, sheer black stockings, and slippers, she stood in front of the mirror brushing her teeth. Her fair toes were visible beneath her slippers.

Honestly, Qi Lin felt a little sorry for Qi Xueyao.

She had been staying at his house for so long, yet he had never seen her change into a different outfit for work.

Maybe it was because her family’s financial situation wasn’t great, and she couldn’t afford another set of work clothes.

She was always careful not to get her clothes dirty. If they got stained, she would scrub them by hand and then use a steam iron to smooth and dry them.

In 2002, steam irons were still considered a rare household appliance. The fact that Qi Xueyao could wear clean, pressed clothes to work every day was all thanks to Qi Lin’s family.

“Aah!”

Just as she finished brushing her teeth and raised her head to rinse her mouth, she saw someone standing behind her in the mirror.

Her face turned pale in shock, and she let out a startled cry.

When she realized it was Qi Lin, she quickly stepped aside and glared at him angrily.

“Qi Lin, what are you up to this time?”

Qi Lin shrugged. “Nothing much, just brushing my teeth. Then, I accidentally saw some pears, so I took a couple more looks.”

“Pears?”

Qi Xueyao, the cold and elegant older sister type, looked confused. She had no idea what Qi Lin was talking about.

“Qi Lin, today is Saturday, right? You don’t have school. Why are you up so early?”

She didn’t want to waste time figuring out what nonsense Qi Lin was saying, so she quickly changed the topic.

Then, she suddenly realized it was the weekend. Why was Qi Lin up at this hour?

Qi Lin’s dark eyes met Qi Xueyao’s, and a look of sincerity appeared on his face. “Xueyao, last night, as I was lying in bed, I suddenly felt that what I said to you yesterday was too harsh. Even though you don’t like me, at the very least, you’ve been my childhood companion. It was wrong of me to call you an outsider, so I’ve decided to make it up to you today.”

“Apologize to me? Make it up to me?”

Qi Xueyao looked at him in shock.

Had the sun risen from the west today? What was wrong with this bastard? He actually wanted to apologize to her?

“That’s right. That’s also why I woke up so early. I want to drive you to work. Normally, you take the bus, right? It’s bumpy, and the smell on the bus isn’t great either. Why not take my family’s Mercedes instead?”

Qi Lin spoke with an earnest expression.

“No! No need!”

Hearing that Qi Lin’s so-called compensation was driving her to work, Qi Xueyao was immediately alarmed and waved her hands frantically in refusal.

She had just quit her teaching job a few days ago to start a business with her college friend.

She didn’t want anyone to know about it.

If Qi Lin drove her to work and found out she had already resigned, wouldn’t that be a disaster?

With his personality, he would definitely tell her parents right away.

“Don’t be so polite. Didn’t you say you see me as a younger brother? What’s wrong with a younger brother driving his older sister to work?”

“Besides, if you refuse, doesn’t that mean you’re still mad at me and haven’t forgiven me?”

Qi Lin took two steps forward and wrapped an arm around Qi Xueyao’s shoulders, trying to lead her to the car.

At this moment, Qi Xueyao was too busy panicking to care about him taking advantage of her.

Her face flushed red as she dug her slippered feet into the floor, resisting his pull.

“Qi Lin, really, you don’t need to drive me. Listen, I’ve already forgiven you! I’m not mad at all. It’s rare for you to have a day off, so just stay home and rest.”

Qi Xueyao, who had still been holding a grudge over his harsh words yesterday, was now so desperate to stop him from taking her to work that she flat-out lied.

“You’ve really forgiven me?”

Qi Lin looked doubtful, but inside, he was laughing.

Her firm refusal to let him drive her to work confirmed what he had read in her diary.

She really had quit her teaching job and was afraid of anyone finding out.

“Yes! I swear! I’m your sister. How could a sister hold a grudge against her little brother?”

Qi Xueyao raised her delicate fingers and swore repeatedly.

“Alright then. If you give me a hug, I’ll believe you’ve forgiven me, and I won’t take you to work.”

Qi Lin proposed a test to see if she was telling the truth.

“This…”

Qi Xueyao’s face turned red. She wanted nothing more than to kick this bastard.

She was sure Qi Lin didn’t actually care about being forgiven—he just wanted to take advantage of her.

But the problem was that there were more serious consequences at stake. If she didn’t agree and Qi Lin insisted on driving her, then her resignation would be exposed.

Letting out a deep sigh, Qi Xueyao put down her cup and toothbrush, then reluctantly gave Qi Lin a quick hug.

Her plan was to get it over with as fast as possible and not give him any chance to take advantage of her.

To her surprise, Qi Lin didn’t make any move at all. He simply stood there and didn’t try to grope her.

“Ha~”

After the hug, Qi Lin yawned.

“Since Xueyao doesn’t want me to take her, I guess I’ll go back to sleep.”

With that, he turned and headed upstairs.

Watching his retreating figure, Qi Xueyao felt a wave of frustration.

What a typical spoiled rich kid. He did whatever he wanted on a whim. Just look at his lazy attitude—did he really intend to take her to work?

She wasn’t even sure if he had been messing with her just now or if he had simply wanted to take advantage of her.

With Qi Lin gone, Qi Xueyao finally relaxed.

Not daring to stay at home any longer, she kicked off her slippers, grabbed her bag, and slipped on her high heels before heading out the door.

However, what she didn’t know was that behind the bus she had just boarded, a black Mercedes was following closely.

Inside the car, a pair of dark eyes were watching her with amusement.
