Chapter 35
Chapter 35: Manipulating Hearts, Wang Siling’s Fear:
“You still have the nerve to speak!”
“Your sister scratched his car, and the repair cost is twelve thousand. But Qi Lin not only didn’t make a fuss or ask your sister to pay for the repairs, he even kindly drove her home because she was scared.”
“Do you know how hard your father works? How long would it take for him to earn twelve thousand? Qi Lin is letting our family off the hook. He’s your benefactor, do you understand?”
“And this is how you treat your benefactor?”
Wang Dongcheng looked at his son with utter disappointment, scolding him harshly.
Wang Cheng looked down on Qi Lin because he had never stepped into society and didn’t understand the power that wealth carried.
But Wang Dongcheng understood it all too well.
As an ordinary steelworker at Wugang, he toiled endlessly for a measly salary of twelve hundred a month. When people like Qi Lin, born into billionaire families, appeared, the only way to survive was to flatter them, nodding and bowing just to get on the good side of the higher-ups and maybe earn a bit more money.
But his children just wouldn’t let him have any peace.
One scratched a luxury car, racking up a twelve-thousand repair bill, nearly scaring Wang Dongcheng to death.
Luckily, Qi Lin was generous and didn’t hold a grudge against a little girl like Wang Siling, saying he would cover the costs himself.
Wang Dongcheng had already prepared himself to pay for the damage. So when he heard that Qi Lin wasn’t asking for compensation, how could he not be endlessly grateful?
He immediately showered Qi Lin with gratitude, bringing out the best fruits, snacks, and tea from the house to entertain him.
But this unfilial son of his, Wang Cheng, came back, not to thank their benefactor, but to accuse Qi Lin of kidnapping his sister.
How could he not slap this rebellious son?
“What? The repair cost is twelve thousand?”
Wang Cheng was completely stunned by the number.
Only now did he recall that Yu Chen had mentioned earlier that his sister had scratched Qi Lin’s car.
Now that he fully grasped the situation, he wanted to bury himself alive.
All along, he had thought Qi Lin took Siling to get revenge on him.
But Qi Lin had done the complete opposite—he came to his house and told his parents they didn’t need to pay for the repairs.
With things like this, how could he not get slapped for badmouthing Qi Lin?
“I’m sorry, I’m really sorry, brother! I misunderstood. I sincerely apologize!”
Wang Cheng was smart, very smart.
Understanding the situation, he quickly lowered his hands from his burning face and apologized to Qi Lin.
But hidden beneath his lowered head, in the shadows, his dark eyes flashed with deep resentment.
It was all Qi Lin’s fault. If he hadn’t come to his house, he wouldn’t have been slapped.
So what if he waived the twelve-thousand repair fee for Siling? Wasn’t that what he was supposed to do?
“Qi Lin, you bastard… I’ll remember this slap. Don’t worry, one day I’ll make sure you pay for it.”
He screamed furiously in his heart.
“Hmph!”
Seeing his son finally lower his head, Wang Dongcheng’s anger eased slightly.
Then, he turned his fury toward Yu Chen. “You’re quite the troublemaker too! Qi Lin is older than Siling—what’s wrong with her calling him ‘Brother’?”
“You think I don’t know you have feelings for my daughter? You’re just a high school sophomore, yet all you think about is competing for her attention. Go home right now! I’ll find time to have a good talk with your parents about this.”
Wang Dongcheng wasn’t the type to chase after status, nor was he someone who would sell his daughter.
But of course, he wanted his daughter to have a happy future.
Yu Chen’s family was even worse off than theirs. And as a high school student, instead of focusing on his studies, he was always hanging around Wang Siling. Wang Dongcheng had disapproved of him for a long time.
On the other hand…
Wang Dongcheng glanced at Qi Lin, his eyes showing admiration.
At seventeen or eighteen, Qi Lin was already composed and mature, neither arrogant nor reckless, completely different from those spoiled rich kids. He was even polite to him.
More importantly, he had a kind heart. Seeing that Siling was just a young girl, he didn’t make her pay for the repairs.
That was twelve thousand! Even for the wealthy, it wasn’t a small amount.
If this outstanding young man could be his son-in-law…
“Uncle Wang, Wang Cheng and I have a good relationship at school. I’ve always considered him a brother. He must have been misled by someone, which is why he misunderstood me.”
As he spoke, Qi Lin cast a casual glance at Yu Chen, who was glaring at him.
Never missing an opportunity to drive a wedge between people—he was getting better and better at playing the villain.
“Now that the misunderstanding is cleared up, I’ll take my leave.”
Qi Lin got up.
As expected, upon hearing this, Wang Dongcheng’s anger flared up again.
He immediately turned to Yu Chen. “Go, go, go! Leave my house right now! You’re already scheming and causing trouble at such a young age. Who knows what you’ll do when you grow up?”
“Uncle Wang…”
Yu Chen tried to explain, but with a loud bang, Wang Dongcheng had already slammed the door shut.
“Dad, Yu Chen, he…”
Yu Chen was Wang Cheng’s close follower, always by his side. Wang Cheng truly wanted his sister to marry Yu Chen, so he wanted to say something in his defense.
“You still dare to speak? Go to your room and kneel! You won’t eat today unless I say so!”
Wang Dongcheng shoved his rebellious son inside and locked the door, ignoring his grievances.
Seeing Qi Lin get up to leave, his expression instantly softened into a warm smile. He turned to Wang Siling and said kindly, “Siling, Qi Lin is leaving now. Go on, walk him out.”
Wang Siling had been silent the whole time, but at this moment, she looked at Qi Lin with fear in her eyes.
She was the one at the center of it all, and she understood better than anyone what Qi Lin had done.
He had controlled her.
He had driven a wedge between Yu Chen and her family.
He had set a trap for Wang Cheng.
And now, he had won the favor of her parents.
One person alone had played her entire family in the palm of his hand.
