Episode 5
Episode 5
First, should I start with creating a new character?
It seems like my past self has stored basic data in the VR capsule.
Based on that, my data is being created.
Gender… can’t be changed, huh? Well, can’t help it.
Also, if I change my body too much from reality, it seems like I might feel discomfort when I return to reality.
I see. Then, well, I guess I don’t need to mess with my body. Let’s move on.
There seem to be various detailed settings.
What caught my attention is regarding recording.
Upon closer inspection, it seems you can record gameplay data.
It automatically records in versions with and without voice, from my first-person perspective and from behind me.
Depending on the capacity of the VR machine, it may not be possible, but I turned it on for now.
It’s strong to be able to leave evidence in case of any trouble.
In the other world, I’ve interpreted the Goddess’ “do anything you want” quite broadly and done various things.
Each time, the Goddess apologized to the human world.
Indeed, it’s written in the instructions as well.
It might be better to leave recording on to avoid trouble, it says.
With the body data selection completed, I was thrown into an unfamiliar white space.
…Flashback. It’s a space similar to when I was summoned by the Goddess, so it’s a little irritating.
“Welcome to the world of ‘Little Brave Online,’ foreigner-sama.” There was a god-like figure with a beautiful appearance before my eyes.
…A guide like the Goddess, huh? I feel like punching it inadvertently.
Anyway, is it time to choose my occupation here? There don’t seem to be many occupations available from the start.
…Huh, there are intentionally unselected choices too?
Reading the notes, it seems there are occupations, skills, and titles that are unlocked depending on the activities in the world of ‘Little Brave Online.’
It seems that the creators of this game aim to create a world where everyone can express their individuality, so the optimal solution varies depending on the player.
Certainly, in online games, things like status allocation and skill usage are mostly predetermined.
If you look at strategy sites, you can usually figure out how to allocate status and skill points.
If you allocate stats and skills strangely, you’ll be labeled as a mine and it will be difficult to form a party.
Even if you try to show individuality in such games, it’s often difficult to become stronger than the optimal solution.
I see. To change jobs, you need to raise to a certain level, so you can also play by aiming for those hidden elements from the start.
That’s part of the fun of playing right after the service starts.
Currently, you can only choose from four occupations: warrior, mage, thief, and priest.
…There’s no way online game occupations are this limited.
Which means there are probably many hidden occupations.
…Hmm, I’d like to aim for those.
Personally, since Assassins have the same style as in real life, that’s what I want.
My combat style in the other world… according to the Goddess, it’s exactly like an assassin.
I was conscious of being a ninja, but the Goddess denied it.
It’s annoying. I was told multiple times that it’s not like a hero, not just by the Goddess but also by the natives.
An assassin, huh. I don’t know how it’s unlocked, but it might be good to aim for becoming an assassin in this world too.
For now, it’s time for being unemployed.
You can equip up to five items.
There doesn’t seem to be any specific rules about what to equip.
For example, you can have all weapons or all armor.
Furthermore, it seems you can choose whether or not to reflect it in appearance… certainly, in VRMMOs like this, it seems like a function you’d want.
For now, I selected two daggers and the rest is random clothes.
It’s still the first equipment, and it feels very mob-like.
Oh, there’s a mask too.
Let’s use this to hide my face.
Well, it’s a hyottoko mask though.
(Note:A “hyottoko mask” is a type of traditional Japanese mask used in Noh and Kyogen theater performances. The mask depicts the face of a comical, quirky character with exaggerated facial features, typically with a wide, toothless grin, small squinting eyes, and a prominent nose. The Hyottoko character is often portrayed as a mischievous or foolish figure, and the mask is commonly used in comedic scenes to evoke laughter from the audience.)
Anyway, that’s about it for character creation.
As for the player name… since my real name is Yuto Sakuma, “Yuto” should be fine.
When playing with Mai, instead of calling me Onii-chan, maybe she’ll call me Yuto or Mr. Yuto!
While I’m grinning and trying to fully demonstrate the thinking ability I’ve cultivated in the other world, the god interrupts.
“From here on, the tutorial will begin.
Skipping is possible, but in that case, you won’t receive tutorial rewards.
What will you do?
Also, everything you acquire during the tutorial can be carried over to the main story.
What will you do?”
If I can get items, then of course I’ll do it.
I also want to know the difference in sensation compared to the real world.
And so, I logged into the world of “Little Brave Online.”
