Episode 28
Episode 28
Before, I used to face enemies head-on, but this is incredibly convenient. With this, I wonder if I can effortlessly overwhelm weak monsters?
At the very least, this skill is quite important for unexpected attacks. It would be great if there were other general skills to enhance this one-hit kill ability, but I guess it depends on the future skills of the [Assassin].
As it is now, there’s no particular problem, so I continue defeating monsters and moving forward. Without any major issues, I pass through the southern forest and arrive at a forest with a different atmosphere.
When I check the map, it’s labeled as the Fairy Forest. It seems like this place is treated the same as a town. It’s registered for [Warp].
The Fairy Forest, with faint light shining through, exudes a mysterious power. There’s no one here.
Are there no fairies around now? As I ponder this, a face pops out from a nearby tree hollow.
“Oh, it’s a human!” “Huh? Really?” “What’s up? What brings you here?” “Wow, what a strange mask!” “Oh, long time no see!”
Various fairies start appearing from the nearby trees. These must be fairies. They fly over to me, pull on my ears, and do various things.
I’m quite popular. They must have fallen for my beauty. Some even try to remove my mask, so I grab one fairy by the collar with my index finger and thumb.
“I came here to find someone who will make a contract with me. Anyone willing to make a contract?”
“Huh? The human wants to make a contract?”
“Then, try asking the fairies if they want to make a contract with you! If the one you choose is okay with it, they’ll lend you their power!”
I see.
“So, if I say I want to borrow everyone’s power, will everyone make a contract with me?”
“Huh, are you declaring infidelity?”
“We’re not dating in the first place, though?”
“Even so, nope. At your current level, only one of us can make a contract with you.”
Level, huh? Maybe if I change jobs again, I’ll be able to make contracts with more of them. For now, I need to select a fairy carefully.
I look at the lineup of flying fairies. The friendly ones wave when our eyes meet. How cute. I wave back and start looking around.
It seems there are both male and female fairies. Hmm… which one should I choose? If I’m being picky, a female would be better.
A cute girl would be more popular than a cute boy, regardless of gender equality. Honestly, any of them would do… but I wonder if there’s a difference in their abilities.
There probably is… There’s one who seems shy and another who sticks close to me. If I were to leave the shop to someone, the brighter one would be better… but…
“Wow, a butterfly!”
The friendly one fluttering around me seems easily distracted.
…They might work if I give clear instructions, but if there’s a need for some training, it might be troublesome. Who should I choose…
Maybe it’s better to ask them directly from our end.
“Alright. Any of you want to come with me and work as a shopkeeper? The faster, the better!”
Sometimes they will accompany me in battles, but they’re more like support characters, so they’re not really that strong. So, as long as they manage the shop well, that’s fine.
“Yes, yes! I want to do it!” “Me too!” …The ones who responded seem to lack concentration.
Even though they raised their hands, when a butterfly flies nearby, they go after it. I prefer a child who will seriously take care of the shop, but will I find one?
As I’m thinking about it, I notice a fairy at the back timidly raising her hand. Among the fairies, she seems to be the rare shy type.
At first glance, I felt drawn to her. My hero’s intuition is telling me something.
This child might be a good match.
But, I’m worried if leaving the shop to her is okay up to that extent.
“What’s your name, girl over there?”
“Me!? …Um, I’m called Lulura.”
I gaze intently at the fairy who introduced herself as Lulura.
With long bangs covering her eyes, she looks at me timidly.
Honestly, she doesn’t seem very suited for customer service… but the kind of shop I have in mind doesn’t require catching customers or anything like that.
“Little Brave Online” is gaining more players every day.
With the current timing where weapons sold in shops are mediocre and blacksmiths haven’t appeared yet, just having a shop that sells weapons will attract plenty of customers.
If I advertise on the bulletin board, it would probably sell out immediately.
So, as long as she can handle basic customer service, that’s fine. Plus, compared to other fairies, Lulura using polite language from the start is a plus.
“I’m thinking of managing a weapon shop for a while. Can you do it?”
“Y-Yes. I want to try…”
“You seem quite shy, but are you okay?”
“I… I want to overcome that…”
“I see. It takes courage to choose my shop as a practice ground.”
“I-I’m sorry…”
“Good spirit!”
“Huh!?”
“You’ll be dealing with foreigner customers. If you’re polite, there shouldn’t be any major issues, so do your best.”
“S-So, will you… make a contract with me!?”
Her eyes sparkle suddenly.
It seems Lulura’s contract conditions are already fulfilled.
“Yeah, I’ll count on you.”
As I say that, Lulura nods with a smile.
With this smile, there should be no problem.
