Episode 25
Episode 25
When you reach level 30, there’s one more thing you can do: creating a clan house. I’m not particularly interested in joining a clan, but creating one might earn me some sort of title. So, with that in mind, I approached the chubby man who greeted me at the real estate agency.
“I’ve met the requirements to create a clan, so I’d like to do that. Is that alright?”
“To create one, you’ll need 100,000 gold and a clan house. There will also be a contract fee for the clan house. Is that acceptable?”
“Yeah, of course. I’ll take a clan house from here.”
I decided to contract the smallest one for now. Even though it’s called the smallest, it’s still about the size of an ordinary house. Initially, I thought an apartment-style room would be enough, but I figured it would be inconvenient when I wanted to make noise alone. As expected, I obtained a title as well. More stat points for me.
With this… I’ve achieved all my goals. Having completed everything I wanted to do by morning, I logged out to enjoy the breakfast prepared by Mai.
When I came out of the VR machine, the morning sun was already streaming in through the window. It’s such nice weather. A pleasant morning sun. But unlike in the other world, there’s no worry of being attacked by someone during the night here. It’s different from the other world, where there was always the anxiety of being attacked no matter where you rested. Just this alone makes coming back to Japan worthwhile.
I stretched my back, used magic to refresh my body. Well, I wasn’t really that tired to begin with, but I’ve been doing it every morning in the other world, so it became a habit. It’s a magic that instantly heals wounds and injuries. Although this body isn’t immortal, it can be restored to its original state with magic as long as the heart doesn’t stop. Well, even if the heart stops, magic will automatically activate, so there’s no risk of dying.
Feeling energized, I headed down the stairs. Breakfast preparations were almost complete, and my parents were bustling around getting ready for the day. It seems my stepmother made breakfast. That’s nice too.
Mai and I are still on spring break, but once school starts, we’ll be in the same boat as everyone else. School, huh? I’ve been absent from school for a year, so I’ll be repeating the year. That’s why I’ll be going to school with Mai and the other first-year students this spring. Some people might care, but I’m not particularly bothered.
…But studying, huh? One of the perks of being a hero was the enhancement of the brain itself. Parallel thinking, memory, and the like—all those things that require brainpower have become effortless. I don’t forget things I’ve seen at a glance, and there’s no limit to my memory capacity. If I search my brain, I can recall even the deepest memories right away. I can automatically translate unknown languages, and I can even translate my words into a form that the other person can understand. Of course, I can turn these functions on and off as I please. Well, at least I can do whatever I want right now.
Anyway, as a hero strengthened in every aspect, do I really need to go to school now? There are plenty of ways to make money if I want to… But being able to spend high school life with Mai is only possible now. That’s right. Being able to go to school with Mai now is worth it, isn’t it? There’s a lot of value in it.
As I was thinking about that, my father looked at me.
“Yuto. Did you get enough sleep?”
“Yeah, of course.”
Maybe he thought I was tired from spacing out. I returned a thumbs-up to my dad, but that’s a lie. I haven’t slept a wink.
“Well, it’s good to enjoy the game, but take care of your health. By the way, ‘Little Brave Online’ is amazing, isn’t it? Everyone at my workplace is talking about it.”
“It was a hot topic at stepmother’s company too. Some of them even took a lot of paid leave that day.”
…It’s quite popular, huh? It’s understandable, considering a game of that quality has been released. If I didn’t have the experience of the other world, I might have been even more excited. You can experience magic and combat that feels like real life, and there are no bugs so far. There have been VRMMOs before, but apparently none of them are at the level of ‘Little Brave Online’. That’s why I guess you can find a lot of information on the internet right away.
As I took out my smartphone to gather information, Mai woke up. …She looked very sleepy with a blank look on her face. Her bed hair was all over the place, but that disheveled look is very adorable.
“Good morning.”
The angelic Mai isn’t particularly good in the morning.
Also, because she stayed up late playing the game yesterday, she’s probably even more tired. Rubbing her sleepy eyes, she sluggishly makes her way to the bathroom. Seeing her like that, my dad calls out to her.
“Mai, you didn’t stay up playing late into the night, did you?”
“Huh? N-no, I didn’t!”
Her stream seemed to go until midnight. I wasn’t watching her stream while I was gaming, but when I checked her channel earlier, it seemed like that. After that, she must have continued for a while, so she probably logged out around 1 a.m. Mai probably understands that I have this information.
She appeals to me with her eyes, saying, “Big brother, please don’t say anything!”
How cute…!
Well, it’s not like she stayed up late! The real night owl here is me.
“Have fun, but take care of yourself, okay?”
“Yeah. I’m going to wash my face…”
Mai yawns as she heads to the bathroom.
…Well, even though she said that, she’ll probably end up playing all day again today.
