Episode 10
Episode 10
When I looked at the menu screen, there was something called “Quest List.” Checking it, I found that “Orc Raid” had been added.
As written in the help, it seems that the locals have various troubles every day, and by talking to them, quests can be initiated and accepted.
These so-called random quests seem to be updated every day, and it seems to be a first-come, first-served basis.
They must be generated randomly with AI or something. I don’t really know.
By doing so, they seem to be enhancing the feeling of being in another world.
It seems that whether the world of “Little Brave Online” becomes a peaceful place depends on us foreigners.
It’s a sophisticated game. Normally, the world of a game has a completed worldview, but in this game, it seems to change depending on the foreigners.
For example, if you continue to ignore the events where monsters occur, there may be situations where towns and villages disappear, or so it is implied.
I wonder what will happen after the world collapses completely? While vaguely thinking about that, I was waiting for the orc to attack the village.
I said I would defeat the orc, but with my current status, I won’t be able to attack properly without making use of the title.
With the title bonus, my abilities will increase if I fight near the village, so for now, I’ll wait.
In the meantime, I checked the newly acquired skills.
First, let’s check the skills that can be used other than in battle.
I activate [Shadow Sense].
I see. It feels like the range of reconnaissance I’ve been doing on my own has expanded.
In real life, I could do much broader reconnaissance, but that might change as the skill level increases.
Next is [Shadow Stride]. It seems that I won’t be detected by things like the opponent’s perception, but I wonder how effective it is.
For now, the footsteps and footprints have completely disappeared… However, at this stage, the duration of the effect seems short.
I passed by the villagers, but they didn’t seem to notice me at all.
It’s not that I’ve disappeared, but I must be like a roadside stone.
If they’re conscious, I can be seen. Once discovered, I can’t disappear again even if I activate it again.
It’s a skill to use while the target is not aware.
This stealth magic would be more convenient in real life. Well, I’ve just become an [Assassin], so I shouldn’t ask for too much.
The remaining skills are probably for use during battle, so all that’s left is to wait for the orc.
While thinking about such things, screams rose from the villagers.
“The… the orc is coming!!”
“…Again!?”
“Damn it! Those who can fight, get ready immediately!”
I heard such shouts.
Oh, the villagers are going to fight too.
As the villagers headed out of the village with their equipment, I followed them.
Upon heading outside, I immediately spotted the orc.
Is it a quest-exclusive orc? It seems to be a slightly different individual from usual, as its name is displayed as “Unique Orc.”
As I watched the situation closely, the battle between the villagers and the orc began, but it seems that the villagers have no chance of winning.
…So, if the locals die, is that it?
Even though it’s a game, I don’t feel good about hearing screams or seeing them suffer from injuries. Well, I used to be a hero.
So, I activated [Shadow Stride] and dashed towards the Unique Orc. Thanks to the villagers acting as decoys, it didn’t notice me at all.
First, let’s give it a blow. When I activate [Deadly Strike], I see a star-like mark on what seems to be the weak spot of the Unique Orc.
The side, huh?
I kick the ground and activate [Sonic], then dash in.
It’s like a body enhancement magic. However, since only the speed increases, the usability doesn’t seem that great.
The dagger I thrust out pierces the weak spot of the Unique Orc almost exactly.
“Gua!?”
Raising a scream, I stagger towards the Unique Orc, wielding my pursuit dagger, and activate the [Assassin’s Declaration].
With this, the drop items should increase.
“Oh, you’re the one from earlier…!”
“Could it be, the hero of the village!?”
…Ah, perhaps they mean the title?
Since we’re near the village, the effects of the title are also in play. Thanks to that, despite being level 1, it seems I can deal considerable damage to the Unique Orc.
“Oh, right! You guys provide support with magic or ranged weapons! I’ll finish it off!”
“Y-Yes!”
With that, they start attacking by throwing bows and stones.
…It’s not like I need to defeat it alone.
The damage from the villagers’ attacks is minimal, but it’s still helpful in diverting attention.
