The Rejected Alpha's Vengeance

Chapter 581: Happiness In Memory Fragments

[HAWI]

"Ms. Hawi! You came! I never thought I'd see you again after all this time!" Thando greeted excitedly as she looked at the wolf who had just walked into the cafe. It had been a long time truly and so much had changed, but as Thando looked at Hawi, she could tell that she had changed too.

Perhaps it's because of the way he didn't smile or the way she looked so frail and defeated. Maybe it was because of the fact that her mind was filled with so many thoughts and this was the only place she could ever have her relief.

Hawi had been coming to this cafe every single day since she had come to the human lands, but she had been masquerading as Rafael, the man who never ordered the specialty that Hawi had bought here with her Ruru.

It was the only way that I could think of, to make sure that her cover was intact and even better that no one knew of what had happened to the love of her life. This cafe had been her only hope to see Ruru happy again and it haunted her at the same time too.

Perhaps it is because of the way her photo with Ruru was on the board or because of the memories she had made the time she had brought the love of her life here. It had been three hundred years for her and they had all been filled with grief.

However, after the events of the previous night, Hawi wasn't sure what she needed to be here or why she had come to this cafe in her true form. She had debated against it, but still found herself here, not as Rafael, but as the girl that sweet Thando clearly remembered.

"Hello, Thando. You look well," Hawi greeted, choosing not to pretend that she didn't remember the sweet waitress. Thando was a Fae with the purest of hearts, as Hawi had heard from the country folk around the restaurant.

The little town had always known her and they loved her. The humans knew she was a Fae and eternity was a thing for her, so they didn't always ask many questions. They had gotten used to her sweet smiles and welcoming aura, so they never had anything to worry about.

"I am… but you don't look too well. Did something happen to Mrs. Hawi?" Thando asked and Hawi raised her head to look at the face before her. There was just no way that her Ruru would have come to this place, right?

She had lost her memories of everything and just last night, she had gotten them back. Surely there wasn't a way that Rukiya Greyson would come to this restaurant just like that, right?

"Mrs. Hawi?" Hawi asked carefully as she took a seat next to the window. It was the same spot where she had been seated with her Ruru on that date years ago. It was the one place that made her feel like life was turkey worth living.

"Yeah, she was here yesterday. She came for your specials and I told her to pass my greetings. I kinda thought she was acting weird though, because she asked to see the photo of the both of you. She didn't look okay yesterday…

"Did you come for more of your special to take to her? Is she sick? She will be better, Hawi, don't think too much," Thando reassured genuinely, her smiles making Hawi's heart flutter.

It was the way that Thando talked about her Ruru that and why she wanted to sit Thando down and ask about every single detail about her Ruru. This was not what she had expected when she came here and truly it surprised the hell out of her.

Maybe it was not that bad that he was here, right?

"Oh, Ruru? She is back? She left for a trip a few years back, so I have been waiting for her. I didn't even know she came back home," Hawi said as she looked at Thando truthfully.

She had truly never thought that Rukiya Greyson was alive and now they were in the same realm, away from home. The fact that he had also agreed to the damned deal with the moon goddess last night was something that haunted why.

She had taken the chance to know her mate even more and threw it in the back because of the threats to the werewolf realm. It wasn't that she had to put Olyana before her mate, the one thing that went against everything that he had promised her Ruru.

This wasn't how things were supposed to be, but what was there for Hawi to do anyway at this point then?

"Well, I hope you both reunite. She looked happy when I gave her your usual special takeout," Thando said excitedly before adding, "let me get it ready before I forget." With that, the kind Fae walked toward the kitchen, leaving Hawi to her thoughts.

She was curious to know why Ruru had come to this place.

She wanted to know what her reaction had been on knowing that she was mated to Hawi.

It was the one thing that gave Hawi chills, even though she knew for a fact that things would never be the same, easily given how she had agreed to have Ruru's memories of her erased.

It was a cruel thing that she had done, but for Ruru's safety, Hawi would do whatever the hell she needed to do. It was the only consolation because at the end of the day he would be fighting wars for that girl.

There was no doubt about it either way.

"Did you think of me?" Hawi whispered softly as she looked at the cameras in the cafe.

She was tempted to take a look into Thando's mind or even the cameras. She wanted to know what it was that happened and when Thando came back with her food, she had chosen.

"Here, Hawi," Thando said kindly and Hawi smiled at her.

"I have a request, Thando. I know you can say no, but please…" Hawi trailed off with uncertainty. How the fuck was she supposed to ask for permission when he wanted to snoop into Thando's head?

She could have faced the girl with small talk and did what she wanted to, but she respected the Fae. She knew that it had to take a lot of training, time, and effort to get to this point where the entire town loved her.

Hawi respected that and she wasn't about to abuse her power as the white wolf. Granted, she could do whatever she wanted and Thando wouldn't have a say in the outcome, but that wasn't what Hawi intended.

"You want to look into my memories, don't you?" Thando asked amusedly as she stared at the uncertain wolf before her. She looked like he was about to constipate and that life was the worst dose of shit that she had ever had to deal with.

"How did you know that?" Hawi asked, her tone still uncertain as she trusted the Fae. She was curious about so many things but she couldn't help but admit that hearing what Thando had said made her mood lighten up.

Of course, Thando could say no, but Hawi was hoping that she wouldn't say no. This woman was the only link to what the love of her life had done when she had come to the cafe yesterday.

So much had happened that timeframe and Hawi was desperate to see what it was like for her. How her mate had walked in and managed to get that which they had gone hard for.

It was an ironic relay because last evening How could have sworn, she saw Ruru eating, but she didn't know what it was. He hadn't asked either, because she couldn't.

She was afraid of triggering Ruru's memories and undoing what she had promised the damned moon goddess. Oh, but this was going to be a long fight that she wasn't even sure she was ready for just yet.

"Because of the way you looked at me when you walked in. You are so worried about something, and I know I can trust you not to snoop into my memories other than what yesterday entailed.

"Have at it, Hawi," Thando said as she sat right in front of Hawi and stretched out her arm to the woman.

She knew that this wasn't normal for Hawi and that she might have had some reservations, but then Thando was giving her the chance right now so Hawi had no reason to run her down, right?

"Thank you. I won't forget this kind gesture, Thando," Hawi said thankfully before she let herself into Thando's mind. At first, it was all foggy, but when she saw her mate, and the interactions, Hawi felt like she had been so close and failed again.

She had never thought that it was ever possible to be that happy about seeing RUkiye walk into a cafe for food. However, right now, she was excited and glad that he was safe and healthy.

It was exciting and Hawi's heartbeat was a little too fast.

Her Ruru was real, and there was no doubt about it. There were little things about the way her Ruru always moved, things that only Hawi had known of, they were always too subtle that even the moon goddess wouldn't have known about.

"Whatever you want, Thando… I will give it without question," Hawi said once she was done with Thando's memories.

"Keep her safe, Hawi. That is all I can ask for the poor girl," Thando said and Hawi started in surprise. However, before she could ask for more, the cafe owner called for Thando.

"Be happy," Thando whispered before leaving.
