Chapter 12
Led by Yumi, we approached a building where, indeed, an advertisement for *Girls’ Memorial* was displayed.
Perhaps the publishing company, having seen an opportunity, quickly placed the ad while the market was hot…
It was quite satisfying, though, especially since it was from the company the President had recommended.
“The operator illustrations on the billboard seem to catch everyone’s attention as they pass by, don’t they?”
“That’s right.”
During a conversation with Eun-ri, I glanced back at Yumi and noticed her wistful expression.
“Why do you look so serious?”
“Seeing people pass by while looking at the ad made me realize that this game was really made by my own hands…”
“Was this your first project, Yumi?”
“Looking back, I suppose it was… I’ve participated in support roles a few times while working in the business team, but…”
“It’s understandable for a first-timer. I had the same expression on my face after I completed my first project.”
As Eun-ri said that, Yumi began to look like a little sister to me…
Did Yumi notice my slightly impure gaze? Her expression turned sour.
“Director, please stop looking at me that way!”
“Ah, sorry…”
“Really… Anyway, what’s our next schedule?”
“Hmm…”
After meeting the two of us, I hadn’t really thought about the next schedule, so I began to ponder just as Eun-ri raised her hand.
“Would you both like to help me with something, if you’re free?”
“With what?”
In response to my question, Eun-ri pulled out two cameras from her bag and handed them to us.
“Cameras?”
“Yes, we have a newly updated club to introduce when we open soon, the Yin-Yang Club. They asked us to take pictures of some shrines for reference material.”
“Shrines?”
“Yes, and they’d like surrounding areas photographed too, if that’s possible.”
Understanding Eun-ri’s request, I glanced at Yumi to find her already nodding as if it went without saying.
“Since Eun-ri gave us a guide to Akihabara, it would be rude not to help.”
“Alright, have we decided on which shrine to visit first?”
Eun-ri nodded in response to my question.
“They specifically asked for photos of this location.”
The smartphone Eun-ri showed me displayed Asakusa.
“Alright, let’s head to Asakusa first?”
“Yes.” “Yes!”
Fortunately, Asakusa wasn’t too far from Akihabara where we currently were.
Around three subway stations?
Soon enough, we arrived at our destination, Asakusa.
“Wow… there really are a lot of people! So this is a tourist site?”
Indeed, as a shrine representative of Tokyo, it was bustling with visitors.
“I’m going ahead for a bit… Are you both following?”
“Sort of… please don’t push my shoulder!”
“Wow, such a large crowd is really a first for me…”
Turning back mid-journey, it seemed both were experiencing real-time limits.
‘We should get through the shopping district as quickly as possible…’
Having managed to carve a path ahead of them, we made it to the main hall of Asakusa, Senso-ji, just before Yumi and Eun-ri collapsed.
“Is everyone still standing?”
“Happily.”
“Feels like I’m going to die…”
Relatively seasoned from attending Comiket, Eun-ri seemed unfazed, but Yumi, who seemed less experienced, was already halfway down.
“Should we take a break before shooting? Anyone thirsty?”
“Allow me to fetch some drinks. You’ve worked so hard leading the way…”
“It’s okay, just rest.”
“Then I’ll go for tea, please.”
“And Yumi?”
“I’ll take iced coffee…”
“Tea and coffee… hang on a moment.”
After receiving the orders, I made my way to a convenience store.
Fortunately, the convenience store was on a side street, not the shopping district we had just passed through, so there was no need to worry about navigating through throngs of people.
‘No matter how capable I am, I couldn’t have navigated that crowd again…’
I bought the requested drinks at the convenience store and returned to where the two of them were waiting.
To my surprise, I was greeted by Yumi lying on the bench with her head resting on Eun-ri’s thigh.
“Are you sure you’re okay?”
“Most likely.”
“I’m still alive…”
“Then let’s rest a little longer here before starting?”
“Alright, sure.”
“Thank you so much for being thoughtful…”
After handing over the drinks to the resting duo, I sat down on the adjacent bench as a cool winter breeze blew by.
“Random thought, but don’t you feel like Yumi is a bit different from the first time we met?”
“Definitely.”
“Nng…? What’s wrong with my image?”
“Based on your appearance and personality alone, you seemed like the complete extrovert, but once you got into the field, it seems like you didn’t do much outdoor activity.”
“Hearing that makes me even more upset because I can’t argue back…”
Yumi, now looking disgruntled, stood up and reached for her coffee bottle.
“You’re right, Director. Due to the nature of the business team, someone who’s too introverted wouldn’t be able to survive corporate life, so it was unavoidable to change. But that’s the result.”
“Ah, um…”
In an instant, a thick and heavy atmosphere emanated from Yumi.
I seem to have hit the wrong button, so I apologized immediately.
“Sorry.”
“Alright, I’ll forgive you this once…”
“This time, the senior was definitely at fault.”
Given more time might have made me regretful, I stood up.
“Then, let’s start shooting now?”
*
The background material shooting went smoother than expected.
Unlike the crowded shopping district, Senso-ji’s main hall was less crowded, allowing us to finish the shooting without any issues.
After finishing shooting in every corner, as we were about to head back through the shopping district,
“Onee-san, Director. Over there.”
Yumi grabbed both our hands and pointed towards something.
Looking at where Yumi’s finger pointed, I saw a group of foreigners.
[Kimono/Yukata Rental Shop]
“Why? Do you want to try one on?”
“Ah… No? How could I possibly want to try on something like that while being on an overseas business trip and not even recognizing my priorities? This is part of the research… right?”
‘Try it on if you like.’
Judging from Yumi’s unusual loss of composure and rambling, it was clear she wanted to try.
Glancing at Eun-ri for confirmation felt right, and it seemed she had the same thought.
“Then, let’s try renting one. The senior will take the photos.”
“Got it. As part of our research, right? Shall we go pick one out together, Onee-san?”
“Let’s.”
While the two of them went inside to choose, I took pictures of the yukatas displayed on the mannequins.
“I thought yukatas had a uniform design, but they seem more varied than I expected…”
All these pictures will definitely help with the design of the characters for the Yin-Yang Club.
As I continued taking pictures,
“Director!”
“Senior.”
I turned around at the sound of Yumi’s and Eun-ri’s voices to see them in the yukatas they had changed into.
Eun-ri was wearing a cool white and blue yukata, while Yumi wore a pink and light purple yukata, accentuating her cuteness.
“You both look great.”
“Really?”
“Of course.”
With both of them smiling after my compliment, we walked around the shopping district, snapping pictures.
I soon noticed that we were attracting a lot of glances, most directed towards Yumi and Eun-ri.
“Onee-san… it feels like people are staring, doesn’t it?”
“Most likely…”
While continuing to take photos without anyone directly talking to us, suddenly,
“Excuse me.”
A Western tourist spoke to us.
“May I take a picture with you?”
As I prepared to intervene, Eun-ri quickly responded.
“Sure.”
After granting permission to Eun-ri, she handed the Westerner’s camera to me and got into position.
I hesitated for a moment but couldn’t avoid taking the photo with Eun-ri’s confident posture pushing me forward.
“Thank you.”
With the Western tourist thanking us, we quickly left the scene.
“I’m so sorry. I just wanted to take a quick picture and send them on their way, but I didn’t expect so many people to gather…”
“No need to apologize. Just let us know next time before you act, alright?”
After I spoke, Eun-ri slightly blushed as she replied.
“Yes…”
The commotion ended with Yumi comforting the now slightly dejected Eun-ri.
“Now that we’ve finished all the possible research here, should we move on to the next place?”
“Yes.”
“Yes!”
“Let’s return the yukatas first.”
“Ah.” “Oh…”
It seemed they really had forgotten, so after rushing to return the yukatas, we visited the remaining shrines with the two of us.
Fortunately, the other shrines we visited weren’t as crowded as Asakusa, which was somewhat comforting.
By the time we finished all the planned activities, the clock had already struck past 6 PM.
“Good job, everyone…”
“Senior, good job…”
“Both of you, good, good job…”
As our final schedule, we entered a restaurant for dinner, collapsing once seated.
“Feels like I’ve done a year’s worth of exercise…”
“Yumi, it’s clear now that you need to exercise more…”
“I agree with that.”
Indeed, although Eun-ri looked more tired in the afternoon than she had before, she didn’t appear too worn out.
Even though I was slightly fatigued, it seems Yumi’s lack of exercise was the main culprit.
“Anyways, great job handling today’s schedule. It’s on the Team Leader, so eat what you like.”
“Wow~…”
“Thank you, I’ll dig in.”
“After this overseas business trip, when we return, it’s the start of hell until CBT ends.”
“Director, please…”
“Senior, let’s not talk about that until we return, please…”
With my comment, the two of them seemed deflated, but soon the food we ordered arrived.
We finished everything on the table and thus concluded the schedule of our overseas trip.
