Chapter 2: New World!
The air felt heavy as Alex walked, each step echoing in the silence around him. His mind raced, replaying the surreal events that had brought him here, trying to understand ıf it was real or not. It didn't feel real—none of it did.
And then, just as He was starting to think it couldn't get any stranger, something flickered before my eyes,a glowing screen appeared, floating right in front of him.
[Hello to the world of Pokémon.]
He froze, staring at the text.
*Wait, what the heck,am I really in Pokémon? It cant be right ı must have been dreaming,*
He knew he was dreaming—he had to be.
Just after reaching his lifelong dream of becoming a Champion, he was suddenly… here. It didn't make sense. If this had happened a year ago, maybe he would've been ecstatic. But not now. Not like this.
Desperation clawed at him, and before he could think twice, his fist swung forward, colliding hard against his own chest. Pain exploded through him, sharp and undeniable.
They say you can't feel pain in your dreams, so why does it hurt?
He staggered back, clutching his side. He already knew the answer, but his mind refused to accept it. He tried to bury the truth, to drown it out with denial. But the ache was still there, as real as the ground beneath his feet.
And then he looked at the screen that appeared.
[Hello to the world of Pokémon.]
He blinked at it, his heart racing. For a moment, he thought he might be imagining it, that his mind had finally cracked under the pressure. But the words remained, glaring at him, taunting him with their simplicity. He tried to focus, to make sense of what was happening, but the confusion only made his heart beat faster.
What does this mean? His pulse quickened as the realization began to sink in. His body ached, and yet, there was no escape from the harsh reality of what he had just faced.
[YOU'RE HERE BECAUSE OF YOUR PROMİSE, ALEX CARTER. NOW FULFILL YOUR PROMISE.]
His breath caught in his throat. What? The words echoed in his mind, each one a painful reminder of something he couldn't remember. Why was he here? What promise? His thoughts spun out of control.
"Who ARE YOU?!" he shouted at the screen, his voice shaky. "WHY AM I HERE? I'M ALREADY THE WORLD CHAMPION,THERE İS NOTHING LEFT ME TO DO OKAY? PLEASE LET ME GO!" His words came out in a frantic rush, desperation creeping into every syllable
[DID YOU THINK YOU DESERVE THAT WIN? NOW GET UP.]
The words on the screen cut deep, like a blade twisting in his chest. Alex felt his resolve shatter.
From the pride of achieving his dream to the sinking despair of self-doubt, it all crumbled in an instant.
The screen multiplied, surrounding him in every direction. Each one showed the faces of people from that morning—the doubters, the skeptics, and the naysayers.
"You don't deserve that!"
"Do a rematch!"
"That critical hit was pure luck!"
Their voices rang in his ears, each one amplifying the guilt he hadn't even realized was lurking within him.
Alex clenched his fists, trembling. Was it true? Had he really earned that victory? Or had it all been a fluke, a moment of luck dressed up as skill?
The words on the screen glared at him, unrelenting.
[GET UP]
He was on his knees now, his mind racing. The joy of his triumph was slipping away, replaced by the bitter taste of doubt.
"TELL ME! What do you want from me?" Alex yelled at the screen, his voice cracking under the weight of frustration. "Why me? Why not someone else?Like former champions who actually won by skill!"
The screens flickered, the light dimming before the words reappeared, sharp and deliberate:
[THERE IS NO PARTICULAR REASON. EXCEPT ONE]
The words paused, lingering ominously before continuing.
[ONE WE CANNOT SAY. YET]
Alex gritted his teeth, his anger boiling over.
"I don't care anymore! Just tell me—what do you want from me?"
The screens shifted, the glowing text replaced with a new command:
[DO WHAT WE SAY AND BE THE CHAMPION.BE THE CHAMPİON OF ALL]
The message pulsed once before clarifying:
[BE THE CHAMPION OF ALL .]
"And if I don't want to become the champion, what will happen then?" Alex asked, his voice steady but laced with curiosity. Deep down, he wondered if this was some twisted game. After all, if this really was the world of Pokémon, he could just settle down, live peacefully, and enjoy the simpler pleasures.
The screen went silent, its glow dimming for a moment. Alex waited, his heart pounding. Was it thinking? Did he catch it off guard? For a brief second, he felt a flicker of hope that maybe, just maybe, he'd found a loophole in whatever this was.
Then, the text returned, harsh and unyielding:
[IF YOU DON'T EVEN TRY TO BECOME THE CHAMPION, WE WILL BURN YOU ALIVE UNTIL THE END OF TIME.]
The words seemed to sear themselves into Alex's mind, each letter glowing brighter as if to emphasize the weight of the threat.
Alex stumbled back, his breath caught in his throat. "What... what the hell?!" he stammered.
The screens remained unwavering, their ominous glow bathing the room in an eerie light.
"And if I can't manage to become the champion... what will happen then?" Alex's voice trembled, though he tried to sound braver than he felt.
The screen flickered, its glow intensifying as the words shifted once more:
[YOU WILL BURN ALIVE UNTIL THE END OF TIME.]
Alex froze, his body turning cold despite the fiery threat. His lips quivered as he tried to process the sheer brutality of the statement.
"So... I don't have any choice, do I?" he muttered, his voice barely above a whisper, his mouth trembling as he spoke.
The screen remained silent for a moment, the glow flickering faintly before a single word appeared:
[NO]
Alex's fists clenched at his sides. "This is insane," he said, his voice rising. "You expect me to—"
The screen interrupted, text appearing faster than before:
[YOU MADE A PROMISE. NOW KEEP IT]
He wanted to scream, to yell at the absurdity of it all, but deep down, he knew he had no leverage here. His own words from the morning echoed in his mind:
"Let this be a critical hit. If it's a crit, I'll do anything you say. I say EVERYTHING."
What had he been thinking? It was just a silly, offhand comment. But now it felt like he'd signed a deal with the devil.
Alex took a deep breath, his voice shaky but defiant. "Fine. If I have to do this, I'll do it. But don't think for a second that I'll forget this... whatever this is."
The screen dimmed for a moment, almost as if acknowledging his resolve, before displaying one final message:
[WELCOME TO YOUR JOURNEY]
[ALEX CARTER]
"Which region am I in,at least tell me that?" I asked, hoping for a clear answer, though a part of me dreaded it.
The screen responded almost immediately:
[YOUR FIRST JOURNEY WILL START AT KANTO.]
"Kanto..." I muttered, a faint sense of nostalgia flickering through my mind. But before I could process it fully, another thought struck me.
"Wait, what do you mean by 'first'? Do I have to become the champion in every region?" My voice rose with panic.
The screen flickered, before the next message appeared:
[YES, YOU NEED TO BE THE CHAMPION OF ALL.]
My stomach dropped. "You've got to be kidding me," I whispered, though deep down, I already knew this was no joke.
"All of them? Every single region?" I asked, my voice trembling with disbelief.
The screen didn't hesitate this time as well:
[YES. YOU WILL FACE THEM ALL.]
I took a shaky breath, my hands gripping the sides of my head.
"How... how am I supposed to do that?" I muttered, the weight of the task sinking in.
"Okay... will the things I know stay the same?" I asked, trying to gather whatever scraps of information I could. "Like the movesets, the Pokémon of the champions? Or are those going to change too?"
The screen paused, flickering ominously, before displaying its next response:
[YOU WILL HAVE TO FIND OUT YOURSELF, ALEX CARTER.]
Great. Just great. It was like throwing me into a battlefield blindfolded.
"Seriously? You can't give me even one clear answer?" I snapped, but the screen ignored my frustration and continued:
[NOW GET READY TO GO TO THE PROFESSOR'S HOME. YOU NEED A STARTER POKÉMON TO GO WITH YOU.]
"A starter..." I murmured. For the first time, a glimmer of excitement managed to cut through the anxiety. Choosing a starter Pokémon was one of the best feelings ı got from playing any mainline game like any other player, but under these circumstances, it felt... strange.
The screen vanished abruptly, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
I sighed, running a hand through my hair. "Guess there's no point in standing around. Might as well see where this goes."
I glanced around, realizing for the first time how real this world felt—the warmth of the sun, the soft rustle of the wind, the faint sound of Pidgey chirping in the distance. It was like stepping into a dream, except for the nagging voice in my head reminding me it wasn't one.
"Wait... where am I? Which city am I in?" I asked aloud, half-expecting the blue window to pop up with another cryptic response.
But instead of the usual blue screen, a new window appeared—a deep red, unlike the one I'd seen before.
This one was different. On the left side, it displayed a map, clearly showing a small town surrounded by trees and fields. On the right, there were several smaller tabs, each labeled: Trainer Card, Inventory, and Map.
My eyes widened in disbelief. "Wait... this is... this is the interface players usually have in the DS or GBA games!" I muttered, my voice trembling slightly.
The map zoomed in automatically, focusing on a small, familiar-looking town. My heart skipped a beat as I recognized it—Pallet Town.
"So I'm starting at the beginning... just like the games," I whispered. The realization made my situation feel both more real and surreal at the same time.
I hesitantly tapped on the Trainer Card tab. The screen shifted to display my name, Alex Carter, alongside a photo of this body's profile picture, age of this body which is 17 and the title New Trainer. Beneath that, it listed my badges: 0/8.
"Looks like I really am starting from scratch," I sighed, before swiping over to the Inventory tab.
It was mostly empty, save for one item: Starter Kit. Curious, I tapped on it, and a brief description appeared:
[Starter Kit: Includes a Pokédex, five Poké Balls, and a map of the whole region. Obtain from the professor.]
I nodded to myself. "Guess that's my next stop."
Before closing the window, I glanced at the Map tab again, trying to familiarize myself with the area once again. Pallet Town wasn't large.
"Alright," I said, taking a deep breath. "Let's do this."
I started heading downstairs, but unlike in the games, there was no cheerful mother waiting to send me off with words of encouragement. The first floor was eerily empty, almost like a copy of the one from my actual house back home.
"I guess this part is the same as what I had back there,I Just hope Meowth is Safe and not Hungry" I muttered under my breath.
As I stepped outside, the sudden brightness of the sun momentarily blinded me. Shielding my eyes, I took a few steps forward, and when my vision cleared, I froze.
The town before me was Pallet Town, but not the one I remembered from the games. It was... bigger. Much bigger.
There were rows of houses, lining the dirt paths that branched out in multiple directions. The quiet, idyllic town from the games had been replaced by something more realistic—alive with people, sounds, and movement. Children ran around playing, and trainers were chatting by the Pokémon Center that loomed in the distance.
I pulled up the map again, expecting it to reflect this expanded version of the town, but it didn't.
The screen still displayed the same layout as the games: two houses and the professor's lab.
"What the...?" I frowned, tapping on the screen to see if it would update or expand, but nothing changed.
"Guess the map hasn't caught up to reality," I muttered, lowering it. My gaze shifted back to the bustling town around me.
If this was the starting point, I needed to find Professor's lab. But with so many buildings, it wasn't as simple as just walking straight ahead.
"Well, no point in standing here," I said, steeling myself. "Let's figure this out."
