Chapter 69
Chapter 69
----------------------------
Within the prestigious Moonlight Kingdom.
Princess Nihara stared at the moon in the sky as she could hear loud prayers around her. Today was a full moon & the dark elves prayed rigorously from evening until dawn for the safety of their families to the Great Dark Elf Goddess Akshara.
She was the one who was said to have protected the dark elves from multiple disasters over the centuries.
The Great Betrayal, The Deadly Famines, Inter-racial Wars among the Elves among many others were events that threatened the very survival of their race.
But, time and again, they had proved to be the most tenacious of creatures and despite their shorter lifespan as compared to the other Elf races, they were able to become the strongest in the central region of the continent.
Their strength were in their numbers and their proficiency for both weapons and Black Magic.
Black Magic usage came as easy to them as breathing and was often the backup surprise in every Dark Elf's arsenal.
That was why, it came as a surprise to many as from when Nihara was born till this very day, she wasn't able to use Black Magic at all. The accusers often said that she wasn't blessed by their goddess & hence was never allowed to take part in any rituals whatsoever.
She was the misfit among them, an outcast. A half-elf.
The union of her mother, The Great Dark Elf Queen Bila and the human that she married, her father Vijay was not very well accepted.
After living through the lonely childhood and the discriminations from those around her, she would have turned out to be another tyrant, if not for her father's care.
He taught her all the virtues that he knew, most of which were unheard of among the dark elves. And she was very proud of her teachings. She had resolved to follow them till the day that she died, as a homage to her father.
He was still alive though & was currently preparing dinner for her. No matter what others said about her parents, there was one thing about them that she loved a lot.
The Dinner Time together. No matter how busy her mother was with her duties, she always attended the dinner together. Those moments were the most precious and happy times for her.
Today though, she would have to delay their dinner time somewhat. A teaching from her father was being recalled by her over and over.
'Those who treat us good, go to the limits for them.'
'Those that choose to hate us, ignore them to the limits.. until they court death itself.'
She covered her body with her cloak tightly, as she decided to speak to her mother immediately.

It was morning time now.
Near the Guard's Quarters, Elvisa and Luisa had finished setting their clinic again. Their whole night's effort, along with some savings helped them get over the destruction of the Hospital previously.
Elvisa wiped the sweat off her forehead, as she looked towards her little sister still carrying the crates inside. She could tell that the hard labor was a bit too much for the young girl as she carried the heavy crate out her hands and softly chided her,
[Hah.. I told you that I can do this right? No need to do it alone. You have already worked so hard the whole night. Wait inside for me. I will return with something to eat.]
As Elvisa turned away to go for some breakfast shopping, her hand was held behind her. She turned to look back at her sister Luisa, who was making an anxious face at her.
[S-Sister.. you really won't return to the Camp Hospital anymore?]
Elvira smiled in response, as she closed her palms around Luisa's hand.
[You know.. I realized something after going through all of this. Life is too short and unstable. Anything can happen anytime and we must not push things for future or fate. Regret is the greatest poison for our mind and we must not let it ruin our lives.]
[There was something that I wanted to do for a very long time. This clinic is not meant to be for the military or the officials. With this, I can fulfill my dream of being a doctor of the common people. I.. I have had enough with dealing with those arrogant and stupid fools.]
Luisa stood still as she saw the look of determination on her elder sister's face and the resolve and delight in her voice, as she turned to look down while she though about something.
Upon making up her mind, she grabbed her sister's hand even more firmly as she spoke,
[T-Then sister, c-can I be your new assistant? I-I know that I a am not as good as you.. b-but I will study very hard and help you with everything! Please believe in me, sister..]
Elvisa became stunned upon hearing her sister, before she laughed delightfully and hugged her sister strongly and spoke,
[Ok Ok. I do need an assistant now that I am going forward with this. And of course you would do greatly. You are a sister that I am very proud to have too. Let's work together from now on.]
Tears of happiness came out of Luisa's eyes, as she too hugged her sister and liberated out from her inferiority. She had finally been accepted by the one she always looked up at.
Her unrealized dream of becoming someone of importance was surely becoming a reality.
Both sisters reaffirmed their care for each other, as they prepared to start their lives with a new beginning.
Although... there was one thought running through both their minds simultaneously.
((...I must confess my feelings soon too...))
Surely, both the sisters were done regretting and were preparing to give their love life a good beginning too.
Meanwhile, Adrian awaited his mother while staring at the ceiling above, unaware that two maidens were preparing to attack him soon.
[It's so chilly in here...]
