The Pict Magic Of Fairy Tail

Chapter 4: (4) Silver's Decision

Chapter 4: Silver's Decision

The four of them chatted as they made their way to the village where the mission was assigned.

The village, nestled in the surrounding hills, presented a picturesque scene with green mountains and flowing rivers.

Wisps of smoke rose gently from the chimneys, and in the fields, men and women worked together in harmony, creating a peaceful and idyllic atmosphere.

As they entered the village, Silver couldn't help but look around curiously. Having never seen a rural village before, especially in a different world, everything felt new and fascinating to him.

"Hey, what's got you looking around like that? Is there something special you're noticing?" Mira, who had been keeping an eye on Silver, asked curiously. She looked around but found nothing out of the ordinary. "It's just a typical small village," she commented.

Mira's question also drew the attention of Lisanna and Elfman. They too scanned their surroundings but found nothing unusual, so they turned their gaze back to Silver, waiting for his answer.

Silver, eager to hide his inexperience with such scenery, quickly came up with an excuse. "I'm a mage who uses drawing magic, so I need to carefully observe life around me. This way, I won't lack inspiration when I start sketching," he explained.

Although this was just an excuse, it made enough sense to convince Lisanna and Elfman, who both nodded in understanding. Mira, however, just scoffed and turned her head away, seemingly uninterested.

The group eventually reached the village chief's house, as he was the one who issued the request. Upon seeing them, the village chief was taken aback.

"You're all just children! What if something happens? Doesn't your guild take responsibility? I can't let you go on such a dangerous mission," the chief said, clearly concerned about their young age. After all, the Fairy Tail guild was not yet renowned across the land as it would be in the future.

"What did you just say, old man?" Mira, known for her fiery temper, grabbed the chief by the collar, visibly angered by his lack of faith in their abilities.

"Mira, please don't be angry. Let me handle this," Lisanna, quite used to Mira's outbursts, quickly tried to calm her down. Elfman, visibly nervous, tugged at Mira's arm, whispering, "Sis, don't be so rough."

Stepping forward, Silver gently pulled the village chief away from Mira's grasp. He then addressed the chief with a serious tone, "Our guild master is very strict when approving missions. Despite our age, our abilities are nothing to scoff at. Mira here has more than enough strength to resolve this problem. Otherwise, the master wouldn't have allowed us to take on this mission."

"Is that so? Well, if you say so. Follow me, and I'll show you where those troublesome boars are," the village chief relented.

After being overwhelmed by Mira's intimidating aura and finding a way to retreat from the situation thanks to Silver's intervention, he led the group toward the area where the boars had been wreaking havoc.

They passed through the village and reached the edge of the forest.

As soon as they arrived, they spotted a group of enormous wild boars trampling the crops.

The boars were massive, with the largest among them standing over three meters tall, and most of the others were around two meters in height.

No wonder the villagers couldn't deal with them; these wild boars were far too big.

"Wow, they're terrifying! I can't believe these wild boars are so huge," Elfman muttered, his voice trembling at the sight of the giant creatures.

"You see? I told you these boars are beyond what children like you can handle. You should go back and ask your guild master to send more capable mages," the village chief remarked, feeling justified in his earlier doubts.

"Shut up! Who said we can't handle this? They're just a bunch of oversized pigs!" Mira snapped, her temper flaring once more as she glared at the village chief.

As it was Elfman's comment that triggered the situation this time, Mira didn't lash out at the village chief again.

Instead, she immediately activated her Take Over Magic, transforming into her Satan Soul form, channeling all her anger towards the herd of wild boars.

The wild boars were unlucky to have crossed paths with this fiery girl.

Right off the bat, Mira went all out, holding nothing back. Her appearance changed drastically: she wore a tight red outfit, her hair stood on end, her hands transformed into talon-like claws, and a tail and a pair of bat wings sprouted from her back.

Once her Take Over Magic was complete, Mira darted straight towards the largest boar. Her speed was astounding; in the blink of an eye, she was already above the boar's head, delivering a powerful punch directly to its skull.

In the next moment, the largest boar let out a pitiful wail, stumbling back a few steps before collapsing to the ground. It convulsed twice, then lay motionless as blood trickled out of its mouth.

Without missing a beat, Mira's figure flashed rapidly among the remaining wild boars.

Each time she moved, another boar fell. In mere seconds, the entire herd that had been terrorizing the village lay dead.

The speed of her attacks was simply unbelievable, especially to Silver, who was utterly stunned.

Though he had known Mira was strong even at this stage, he never expected her to be this powerful.

This display also gave Silver a rough idea of the strength of other guild members like Erza, Natsu, and Gray, who had yet to make an appearance.

He glanced at Lisanna and Elfman, who were standing beside him, watching Mira in awe and exclaiming "Amazing!" repeatedly.

Silver remembered that Lisanna would become quite strong in the future, and Elfman would even reach the level of an S-Class mage.

At that moment, Silver couldn't help but feel a bit dejected: "Who's the real cheat character here? Isn't the one with a special power supposed to be me? Why does it seem like I have no hope of becoming a powerful mage?"

However, he quickly corrected himself: "No, that's not right. Since I have this unique power, I must be capable of becoming a strong mage. I just haven't figured out the right path yet. As the saying goes, there's no such thing as a useless ability, only a person who can't use it well. Yes, that must be it."

As Silver was lost in thought, he suddenly heard Mira's voice calling out to him. Before he realized it, she had grabbed his collar and pulled him right in front of her. Their faces were so close that their noses nearly touched.

"What are you thinking about? Why aren't you listening to me? Are you looking down on me?" Mira asked, her face quickly showing a furious expression.

Her eyes locked onto Silver's, as if daring him to give the wrong answer, which might result in her unleashing her anger on him.

"Ah, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I was just thinking about the path I should take in the future," Silver quickly apologized with a smile, trying to calm her down.

Seeing him apologize, Mira couldn't continue being angry. She let go of his collar and shoved a stack of money into his hand. "The mission is complete. After deducting ten percent for the guild, the rest is split evenly among the four of us. That means each person gets 45,000J."

"Huh? But this doesn't seem right. I didn't really contribute at all," Silver protested as soon as he heard this. He felt it was inappropriate to take the money since he hadn't helped with the mission.

However, Mira grabbed his collar again, her face showing irritation as she said, "What, do you look down on me?"

"No, no, I wouldn't dare," Silver immediately shook his head and backed down.

"Hmph, just take it. We completed this mission as a team, so the money should be split evenly. Anyone who disagrees?" Mira released Silver and turned around, her tone leaving no room for argument.

After Mira walked a bit further away, Lisanna came over to Silver with a cheerful smile. "Silver, you should just accept it. This is Mira's way of showing goodwill, even if she's not great at expressing it. If you keep refusing, you'll only make her angry. In that case, you might want to watch out," she said teasingly.

Hearing Lisanna's advice, and seeing Elfman nodding in agreement beside her, Silver finally looked at Mira's retreating figure and decided to accept it.

He made a mental note of her kindness and resolved to do everything he could to help the three siblings through the difficult challenges that lay ahead in their future.
