Chapter 17: (17) Little Blue Cat, Happy
Chapter 17: Little Blue Cat, Happy
As Silver just left his seat, the guild's doors were suddenly pushed open with great force. Natsu stormed in angrily, with Lisanna following closely behind.
"Gray! Did you steal my egg?" Natsu immediately targeted his rival, Gray, as the prime suspect.
Gray responded nonchalantly, "How would I know about something like that? Besides, I've got a bone to pick with you, you idiot."
Unconvinced by Gray's denial, Natsu turned on his heel and ran over to Laxus, jumping up and shouting, "Laxus, was it you?"
"What are you talking about?" Laxus replied with a disinterested tone.
Seeing it wasn't Laxus either, Natsu rushed to Mira and Erza, who were standing by the mission board, and yelled, "Erza, give me back my egg!"
"Is something wrong with your brain?" Erza retorted, clearly unimpressed.
Natsu then turned to Mira and shouted, "Mira, cough up the egg!"
"Oh my, Natsu's egg got stolen? Could it be that you accidentally ate it in your sleep?" Mira teased, a mischievous smile on her face.
"You jerk! I'll kill you!" Natsu roared, clenching his fists and preparing to charge at her.
"What did you just say? Wanna fight?" Mira snapped, now fired up and ready to put Natsu in his place.
At that moment, Lisanna, who had been trailing behind Natsu, spoke up with a teary expression, "Sister, our egg is missing."
Seeing Lisanna on the verge of tears, Erza stepped in to calm things down. "Let's just return their egg already," she suggested to Mira.
"I was about to say the same thing to you. Give my sister back her egg!" Mira, now no longer in the mood to tease, turned to Erza.
"You think I stole it?" Erza shot back indignantly.
"If it wasn't you, then who else could it be? Me?" Mira countered without backing down.
As the two were about to escalate their argument into a full-blown fight, Cana, pulling Silver along, approached them.
After listening to the commotion, Cana thoughtfully said, "I remember Elfman mentioning something about losing his little bird. He also said he wanted an egg like that."
"Elfman?" Natsu froze for a moment, then immediately began searching for him.
"Brother Elfman?" Lisanna asked, puzzled.
"Now that you mention it, Elfman hasn't shown up today, has he? Normally, he'd come over to chat with us," Silver noted, looking at Cana. Elfman was his good friend, and whenever he came to the guild, he would usually sit next to Silver.
"True," Cana agreed. Elfman would always stick around Mira and Lisanna or hang out with Silver when at the guild.
Just as they were talking, the guild doors creaked open again. Elfman appeared, struggling to carry a giant egg that was half his height. His shirt was draped over the egg as he staggered forward. "Natsu, Lisanna, there you are! No wonder I couldn't find you in the park," Elfman said with relief.
Before anyone else could respond, Silver stepped forward and asked, "Elfman, why did you take their egg?"
Elfman explained with a sheepish smile, "Last night, I went to the park and saw Lisanna and Natsu already asleep. But Natsu sleeps so recklessly that I was worried the egg would get cold. So I brought it back to incubate it myself."
"Oh, I see!" Natsu's anger melted away instantly. He took the giant egg from Elfman with a big grin and said, "Thanks, Elfman! You're a great guy."
Lisanna, now beaming with joy, bounced around as she chimed in, "Thank you so much, Brother Elfman!"
Elfman scratched the back of his head with a goofy grin, clearly happy but too shy to say anything in response.
Meanwhile, Mira turned to Erza with a dark expression and said, "Hey, Erza. Just now, you thought I stole the egg, didn't you?"
"You accused me first, didn't you?" Erza replied seriously, staring Mira down.
"Prepare to die, Iron Lady!" Mira roared, throwing a punch straight at Erza's face.
Erza caught Mira's fist and retaliated with her own punch, shouting, "The one who should die is you, Bare-Belly Girl!"
Mira caught Erza's punch, and the two began grappling, head-to-head and shoulder-to-shoulder, locked in a heated struggle.
Watching this sudden clash, everyone else instinctively stepped back. Silver, retreating alongside Cana, muttered, "I should've seen this coming. Of course, it would end like this."
"Yep, this is just how they get along," Cana replied with a grin.
The entire guild gathered to watch the two fight, cheering them on. Some even started taking bets, hoping the battle would get even more intense.
But just as the guild's excitement peaked, a sharp crack echoed through the hall, silencing everyone instantly. Even Mira and Erza stopped mid-fight to turn toward the source of the sound.
The noise had come from the giant egg cradled in Natsu's arms, now showing visible cracks.
Everyone quickly gathered around, forming a circle to watch the egg. Another crack sounded, and more cracks spread across the shell. Slowly, the egg began to float into the air.
In an instant, a dazzling golden light filled the room. When the light faded, everyone stared in astonishment at the creature that had hatched.
"It's a… cat?!" they exclaimed in unison.
Yes, what emerged from the egg was a small blue cat. With a pair of white magical wings, it gently flapped into the air and landed on Natsu's head. The wings dissolved into glowing particles, and the cat sprawled comfortably on Natsu's head.
"Natsu, everyone looks so happy seeing it," Lisanna said softly, tugging on Natsu's sleeve as she glanced at Mira, Erza, and the smiling faces of everyone around them.
"Really?" Natsu looked around, then grinned widely. "Then let's name it Happy!"
As if responding to its new name, the little blue cat raised a paw and exclaimed, "Aye~!"
On the other side of the guild, while everyone celebrated, Elfman seemed a bit down.
Noticing this, Cana led Silver over to him. She pulled out a small bird from her pocket and let it fly gently toward Elfman.
When the bird landed in front of him, Elfman's face lit up with joy.
But his happiness didn't last long, as Mira slapped a simple mission request onto the table in front of him and said, "Elfman, go and complete this mission…"
