The Owl House: Son of Edalyn (Owlphibia AU)

Chapter 13: Back in Bonesborough

The calmness of the midday of the Boiling Isles was suddenly disrupted

by a gleaming ball of light that shined in the sky almost like a second sun over the Isles.

From the Emperor's Castle, a cloaked figure gazed up at the sky

as three, multi-colored lightning bolts reflected off the golden mask on his face.

At another part of the Isles, a girl with dark pink and three eyes smirked proudly

as she scored another touchdown in a casual game of Grudgby against her teammates.

...only for her victory to be overshadowed by the strange lightning in the sky.

"What's that?!" spoke a dark skinned girl with wavy hair, and glasses.

"Looks like Lightning." spoke a taller, fair skinned girl. "But There isn't a cloud in the sky!"

"I like the colors!" spoke a dark skinned girl with silver hair tied in a ponytail.

The three-eyed girl just scoffed at this. "eh, forget it. It isn't important."

The teen girls then resumed their Grudgby game.

In the forested part of the Isles stood a centuries old mansion.

And from the courtyard, an Gwendolyn Clawthorne stood with her Palisman, Hawksley in staff form.

She gazed up at the sky, and stared at the Blue, Pink and Green bolts of lightning

that danced together in the sky as they struck where she knew Bonesborough to be.

This WASN'T a strange sight to the old witch...as she had bore witness to such a sight months ago.

...on the day her Grandson has disappeared, never to be heard from again.

"could it BE?!" spoke Gwendolyn, her heart filled with renewed hope. "Is it...HE!?"

"Ngghhh...ohhhh, my head." groaned Anne Boonchuy, as she slowly woke up.

Anne tried to open her eyes...only to shield them from the blinding sun.

She looked around, and found the Plantar family was with her (Also in a dazed state.)

...But, the group then gasped upon seeing a giant creature rushing towards them.

"AAAHH!, G-GIANT MEGAPEDE!"

Anne quickly grabbed her frog family, and rushed out of the way.

However, they were soon surrounded by similar giant bugs, But also some weird looking characters

driving carriages that were being pulled by similar creatures (Some that defied rational explanation.)

"WHAT THE-?!" exclaimed Polly.

"WHAT THE FROG!?" exclaimed Sprig, next.

"WHERE ARE WE!?" exclaimed Hop Pop, last.

Anne looked, and found she and the Plantars were in the middle of a street.

However, the town they were in looked Medieval (or, MediEVIL to be more accurate.)

Some of the buildings looked 'normal', while others looked absolutely bizarre.

The Townspeople didn't look that much different, either.

Some looked human (albeit with 'elven' ears), while others looked downright nightmarish.

Anne began to wonder if she had died, and ended up in Hell.

(but quickly decided this wasn't the case, as the Plantars were here with her.)

"HEY!" exclaimed a one of the carriage drivers. "GET OUT OF THE ROAD!, YER' HOLDING UP TRAFFIC!"

"Alright, WHAT'S ALL THIS THEN!?"

Anne and the Plantars looked as a group of figures in white hooded capes

and wearing facemasks shaped like bird beaks all approached them.

They were led by a big, burly one whose mask was shaped more like a cone.

"Bunch of jaywalkers, Eh?" spoke the cone faced guardsman. "Alright, men. Load them up into the paddywagon."

The Guardmen then surrounded Anne and the Plantars, and grabbed them.

"HEY!" exclaimed Polly. "HANDS OFF!"

"Yeah!" exclaimed Anne. "we didn't do anything!, LET US GO!"

"Resisting an Imperial Guard, huh?" spoke the Cone-faced guardsman. "It's the Conformitorium for you lot!"

"THE WHAT!?" exclaimed Hop Pop.

Anne's brown eyes began to burn bright blue...and then-

((*BAMF!*))

Something was thrown into the area, spilling out a thick cloud of colored smoke.

"WHAT ON THE ISLES IS THAT!?"

"I CAN'T SEE!"

"You gotta try this stuff, Man! IT'S FAR OUT!"

Anne covered her face...and saw a shadowy figure moving through the thick smoke.

It effortlessly whacked the guards with a clubbed staff, moving almost like a shadow.

The shadow then moved, and grasped Anne's hand. "Come with me, HURRY!"

"Oh-Oliver!?" spoke Anne, recognizing the voice.

"QUICKLY!" exclaimed Olivier. "More guards will be on us soon!"

Anne motioned the Plantars to follow as Olivier led them away.

Once the smoke cloud cleared, the masked guards all looked around.

But they could find no trace of 'the bushy haired witch, and the frog demons.'

"BLAST, they got away!" growled the Commander.

"oh, well. You Win Some, you Lose Some." spoke one Guard.

"Let's all take a lunch break at Mama Flo's Pizza. Coven Scout Steve is buyin!"

"SEARCH THE AREA!" shouted the Commanding Guard. "THEY CAN'T HAVE GONE FAR!"

The guards all spread out...Except for one.

"but-but...STUFFED CRUST, GUYS!" exclaimed Steve. "You can eat it "IN REVEEEERRSE!"

[Elsewhere]

Olivier led the 'Conga Line' of Anne and the Plantars through the streets,

until finally ducking into a narrow alley and hiding behind a dumpster.

The group peered back to where they came, and watched as some of the masked, cloaked guards ran past them.

They waited for a moment in dead silence.

When nothing happened, they breathed a sigh of relief...and then something dropped down on them.

"HEY!" spoke a blue frog girl.

"GOSHDARNNIT, MADDIE!" exclaimed Anne, startled.

"Sorry. Didn't mean to scare you." said Maddie, as she hopped down to the group.

"Didja' see me throw that smoke bomb at those guys!?" exclaimed the Frog Girl.

"I thought that looked familiar." said Polly.

"Where the Frog ARE we!?" exclaimed Hop Pop, close to a panic attack.

Anne looked back at Olivier...who was staring at a device in his hand.

Upon examining it, Anne recognized it as Olivier's 'Penstagram' scroll.

Which to her knowledge, was like a magical version of her phone that was powered by magic.

"Ollie?" spoke Anne, approaching Olivier.

Olivier looked at Anne, tears in his eyes. He then rushed forward, and embraced Anne tightly.

Anne was surprised, but returned the hug all the same.

"we...We did it, Annie." spoke Olivier, almost choking. "I'm home...I'M HOME!"

Before Anne could say anything, Olivier released her and began to scale up a building.

"What are you doing!?" called Anne.

"I have to see it!" answered back Olivier. "I have to see it myself!"

Anne paused for a moment, but then reluctantly started to climb up after Olivier.

Maddie followed suit, as did Sprig and then Polly next.

"H-HEY!, WAIT UP!" called Hop Pop, as he (slowly) climbed up after everyone.

As Olivier leaped onto the roof, he gazed out in awe at a sight he never thought he'd see again.

Anne soon joined him, along with the frogs. and they too gaze with wide eyes, and gaping jaws.

Before them lay a vast cityscape unlike anything they had ever seen before.

Anne was no stranger to large cities, having grown up in Los Angeles.

But THIS city resembled a bizarre version of a medieval Paris, France.

And beyond that...was a thick forest growing around the bones of a colossal creature.

And beyond even THAT was a vast ocean, indicating this was all on a large island.

"is...Is this the Boiling Isles that you spoke about, Oliver?!" asked Maddie, excited.

Olivier couldn't speak...he was trembling. Almost in disbelief that what he was seeing was real.

Anne noticed this, and put her arms around her boyfriend. gently stroking his head.

"you're seeing this, right? I'm not just imagining it..." spoke Olivier.

"yes...I see it." said Anne. "We did it, Ollie...YOU'RE HOME."

Olivier began to cry tears of joy with lasted for just a minute, or so.

He then calmed himself down, and looked back to Anne. "I know it isn't pretty to look at, but-"

"It's...Beautiful in it's own way." said Anne.

"ARE THOSE REAL BONES!?" exclaimed Maddie

"AWESOOOOOOOME..." marveled Polly.

"I CAN'T WAIT TO EXPLORE THIS PLACE!" exclaimed Sprig.

"Whoa, now. HOLD ON, KIDS!" spoke up Hop Pop. "We have no idea what kind of strange, new dangers are in this place!"

"I do...I grew up here." said Olivier. "Just stick close to me, and I'll keep you all-"

Before Olivier could answer, a shrill screech was heard.

Everyone looked to see a green colored Falcon with Gold and Blue eyes

swoop down to them while carrying an abnormally large spider.

"Hey!, It's Fleetwing!" spoke Anne. "and, uhhh..."

"FANGORA!" exclaimed Maddie.

Fleetwing dropped the Spider Palisman over to Maddie, who hugged it.

The Bird then hovered over and perched itself onto Olivier's shoulder.

"Looks like we're all her-"

"OH, NO!" exclaimed Polly, panicking.

"What?!, what is it!?" said Hop Pop, concerned.

"It's Frobo!" exclaimed Polly. "I had his head with me, but I dropped him when those masked bozos were chasing us!"

"oh, Shoot!" said Anne.

"WE *HAVE* TO GO BACK AND GET HIM!" exclaimed Polly.

"Polly, we BARELY got away from there in one piece!" said Hop Pop.

"We can't just go back there!, those guards might still be there lookin' for us."

"B-BUT-!"

"Okay, Everyone calm down." spoke Olivier.

"Now, while Hop Pop IS right...we're also not leaving Frobo behind, either.

Fortunately, we have a way to go back and look for him WITHOUT going anywhere."

Olivier then extended his arm, prompting Fleetwing to hop onto it like a tree branch.

The Falcon Palisman then looked at Olivier as the Witch Boy looked him in the eye.

"Go look for Frobo." said Olivier. "Bring him back if you can, but DON'T let anyone see you."

Fleetwing nodded, and spread out his wings and flew off into the city.

"Sooo...we just gonna chill until he gets back?" spoke Anne.

Olivier didn't answer...as his eyes were now glowing green, and was staring off as if in a trance.

"Dang, that's creepy." mused Anne.

"But, VERY useful." commented Maddie.

Fleetwing soared over the city of Bonesborough, his eyes gleaming bright green.

Nothing escaped his sight as he scanned the many people below him.

...the many, STRANGE looking people.

Fleetwing eventually reached the area where He and the others were before,

and perched into a nearby vantage point to get a better look.

The Falcon quickly located Frobo's head...and something else that made the Palisman growl in annoyance.

"oh, titandammit." cursed Olivier.

"what?" spoke Polly, demanding an answer.

"Well, Frobo is fortunately intact and was found rather quickly." began Olivier.

"BUT, those Coven Guards found him before Fleetwing did."

"NOOOOOOOOOO!" screamed Polly, overdramatically.

"What are they gonna do with Frobo?" asked Sprig.

"Most likely they are confiscating as evidence to our "crime." explained Olivier.

"And after identifying him as an 'item of interest', they'll most likely send him off

to the Emperor's Coven where Frobo will join other oddities in the Imperial Vault."

"NOOOOOOOOOO!" screamed Polly again.

"Polly, CALM DOWN. We're gonna go save Frobo, don't worry." said Anne.

"NOW, Ollie. You said they'll take Frobo to get processed: Where is that exactly?"

Olivier exhaled sharply. "The Conformitorium."

Everyone grimaced at this.

"crap." said Anne.
