Seph had to admit he'd underestimated Death and Hela. He never anticipated they'd hijack his doctor's appointment for their own schemes. Not only had they conspired to place Hela as his private nurse, but Death had also somehow convinced Virginia to go along with it.

What's worse, they even arranged for Hela to have a room in the same apartment complex as Virginia's.

Virginia had been skeptical at first, but after a private ten-minute conversation with the doctor, she'd agreed.

Seph couldn't help but scold Hela afterward. "Next time, tell Death to at least come up with a convincing lie. You nearly gave me a heart attack with this stunt!"

Hela simply smirked, her green eyes gleaming mischievously. "But where's the fun in that, darling?"

Shaking his head, Seph double-checked Virginia for any signs of manipulation or spells. Luckily, Death hadn't pulled any supernatural tricks on her.

That, at least, was a relief.

The return trip was peaceful, with Virginia driving them home. She glanced at him from the driver's seat, her expression curious.

"So," She began, breaking the comfortable silence, "Are you finally going to tell me something about yourself?"

Seph sighed, knowing she deserved at least part of the truth. After a deep breath, he said, "I used to be a mercenary."

Virginia blinked in surprise. "A mercenary? Seriously?"

"Yeah," Seph admitted, leaning back in his seat. "My father was one too—a great one. He trained me himself. But… one day, his group was ambushed by a rival team. He didn't make it."

Virginia's expression softened. "I'm sorry, Seph."

Seph shook his head, continuing the tale he'd fabricated. "After that, I swore revenge. I picked up a gun, tracked them down, and… well, I made sure they wouldn't hurt anyone else. Afterward, I fled to America to escape the fallout."

Her eyes widened. "Did they follow you here?"

"At first, yes," Seph lied smoothly. "But I took care of them. Now, there's no one left to come after me. We're safe."

Virginia let out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding. "Thank God. So there's no danger to our lives anymore."

"Our lives?" Seph raised an eyebrow at her phrasing, amused.

Virginia's cheeks turned pink as she fumbled to explain. "Well… since you're staying with me, if someone comes after you, I could get caught up in it too, right?"

He chuckled softly. "If that's the case, I can move somewhere else. I have enough money to—"

"No!" Virginia's sudden outburst made Seph pause.

"O-Okay," He said, startled. "I won't go anywhere. Promise."

Realizing her overreaction, Virginia's face flushed even redder. She quickly focused on the road, desperate to avoid his amused gaze.

Seph smirked but decided not to push her further. Instead, he asked, "What made you change your mind about Hela, by the way? You seemed pretty against it earlier."

Virginia hesitated, recalling her conversation with the doctor.

---

"Doctor, is something wrong with Seph?" Virginia had asked, her tone laced with concern.

The doctor removed her glasses and sighed. "Miss Potts, while Seph's physical injuries are healing well, I'm concerned about his mental state. He's showing signs of severe trauma—likely from something significant in his past."

Virginia's stomach twisted with worry. "Is it serious?"

"It could be," the doctor admitted. "But with the right support, he can recover. And I believe you're the perfect person to provide that support."

"Me?" Virginia blinked in disbelief. "Why me?"

The doctor smiled kindly. "It's clear that Seph trusts you, Miss Potts. You care for him too—more than you might realize. Sometimes, emotional healing requires someone to be there, someone who can make them feel safe and valued. I believe you can be that person for him."

Virginia's chest tightened as she processed the doctor's words. Somewhere along the way, she had grown attached to Seph. What had started as a simple act of kindness had turned into something deeper, something she wasn't ready to name.

"I'll do it," she said firmly. "I'll support him in any way I can."

The doctor's eyes gleamed with an unplaceable light as she replied, "I'm sure you will, Miss Potts. Remember, emotional and… physical support can make all the difference."

Virginia had blushed at the suggestion but nodded determinedly.

---

"Virginia?" Seph's voice pulled her back to the present.

"S-Sorry!" She stammered, realizing she'd been lost in thought again. "I was just… thinking about something."

"Don't let your thoughts distract you from driving," Seph teased with a smirk.

"I won't!" She huffed, focusing on the road again.

When they reached the car workshop to drop off the vehicle for repairs, Virginia tried to cover the cost herself. However, Seph insisted on splitting the bill, paying half upfront.

As they walked out, Seph casually said, "You know, I think it's about time you got a new car. Consider it a thank-you gift for putting up with me."

Virginia gaped at him. "A what? Seph, no! That's way too much!"

"Nonsense," He replied, steering her toward a nearby car showroom.

At the entrance of the workshop, a few service staff said goodbye to the man in front of them.

After the man left, they sighed in unison.

"Manager Sofia, this deal didn't go through," A girl said to a beautiful woman dressed in a business suit beside her, her face full of disappointment.

"It's fine, it's fine. Not many people can afford this beautiful car in this city. ? This car is not suitable for those old. As for the young people, they can't afford it. It's fine." Sofia Lopez patted the shoulder of the girl beside her. "You guys go eat first. It's almost noon. Don't starve."

"Okay."

"But Miss Sofia, don't you want to join us?" The girl asked.

Sofia waved her hand. "I brought some food. I'll just eat here later."

Most importantly, she saw two customers walking over. Although she did not think

that Seph had the money to buy a luxury car, she still had heard of the saying to never judge a book by its cover.
