Chapter 11: Now you've thrown him off his rhythm
"Sozo Akinori, nice to meet you, Orochimaru-sama," I said, holding out my hand.
Grabbing my outstretched hand his skin felt quite smooth.
"Likewise Sozo-kun."
Oh I don't like that.
"What's someone your age doing pestering Shinobi for fire release?"
How long was he behind me?
"Oh you know just planning a little arson," I said shrugging.
Orochimaru smiled at my response. Maybe I was a little too quick to judge.
"Fire release at your age, don't you think you're getting a little ahead of yourself?"
"Won't know until someone shows me how to do fire release or gives me a jutsu." His smile widened even further.
Orochimaru cloak thing suddenly parted as a snake poked its head out. Of course I backed away looking up at Orochimaru who was still smiling. The snake opened its jaw as a scroll slid its way out. I looked at the snake then to Orochimaru who still hadn't said a thing.
Does he want me to take it?
Taking a step forward I reached out gabbing the scroll. Pulling the scroll out I look at it before returning my gaze back to the snake. Having done its job the snake retreated back into the cloak.
"Unique storage you got there," I said, completely thrown off by the whole situation.
"It was nice meeting you Sozo-kun but I'm afraid I have other matters to attend to."
"Nice meeting you too, Orochimaru-sama, have fun with the whole war thing."
Looking down at the scroll I unfurled it, locking at its contents. Inside of the scroll was a fire jutsu. Looking back up to thank Orochimaru he was nowhere to be seen.
I quickly ran off before any responsible Shinobi try to take my scroll from me.
Arriving back home I unfurled the scroll across the kitchen. It didn't look too complex; the entire jutsu was twelve hand signs.
In the Academy I remember sensei saying it was possible to get the number of hand signs required to perform the jutsu down. I haven't really done any experimenting with the three jutsus I do know actually other than Fuinjutsu. I haven't really done much recently. I've even been slacking with my tanto. Once I finish my next seal I should sideline Fuinjutsu for a bit, only studying it. no experimenting. Ok as much as I want to play around with this jutsu I should really work on my seals. Rolling up the scroll I placed it on a shelf in the study.
.
.
"Hello Uchiha-san, I am looking for Uchiha Obito," these two really got that stoic look down.
"I'm not sure on the protocol here, am I allowed to enter the Uchiha compound or is someone going to retrieve Obito for me?"
"You may enter but you have to go straight to Uchiha Obito home, everywhere else is restricted," cool now all I need to do is find the Obito's house.
I wonder around for a bit using the fact I don't know where Obito's home is as an excuse to explore a bit. Unfortunately I am eventually confronted by some Uchiha who kindly point me in the right direction.
Eventually I did find Obito's house. Knocking on the door I wait for the idiot to answer.
The door opens but instead of Obito, an older woman answers the door. She must be his grandma.
"Hello, are you one of Obito's friends?" She said smiling.
"Yes ma'am, is Obito here?"
"Let me go get him."
I waited for about a minute before he showed up.
"Obito, I finished my seal, let's put it through some tests."
And with that we were off head towards the place I would usually train with Kakashi. It's also where I tested this seal when I finished it and no one came investigating.
"Alright before I give you any copies of this seal i will teach to to properly use and disable this seal ok,"
"Yeah, yeah I get it Sozo," Obito said impatiently.
"Patients my friend, we must prioritize safety when using my seal. Ok this seal is called C4'" I said holding a piece of paper a bit smaller than your standard piece of notebook paper.
"Why did you give it such a dumb name?"
"Silence you do not mock my precious creation," going back to my explanation i continued, "C4 is similar to an explosive tag except its explosion should be decently bigger. This other seal i have is the trigger for the C4 with out this all you have is a dangerous bomb with no way to safety deactivate it. You should never lose the activation seal if you do come and immediately find me, especially if you already have an active C4. You got that."
"Yeah," Obito nodded.
"Right now the C4 is just a piece of paper with some drawings on it completely harmless but once you channel chakra into the seal it is active so make sure you place the seal before activating it. In order to activate the seal. You put your hand here and then begin feeding your chakra into the seal. The more you put in the bigger the boom."
Before I continued my explosive, Obito raised his hand.
"Yes Obito?"
"How big can the explosive get?"
"I… don't know, in my testing I never tried putting more chakra than necessary into the seal. I know it can hold quite a bit but I haven't tested that yet. Once I'm done explaining, we'll test that."
I doubt the explosion will be that big, maybe five times stronger than a standard explosive tag if I'm lucky.
"Getting back on topic you can deactivate a C4 with the activation seal. Now this very important the activation tag has two sides. One sets off the C4 the other releases any chakra in the C4 deactivating it. Each side is labeled clearly so don't mix them up. Ok, don't worry about remembering all this. I wrote down all you need to know as well i'll give it to you with the seals.
Obito looked quite relieved he didn't need to remember all this in one go.
"Alright I'm going to fill this seal up then we'll set it off ok," Obito watched closely as i placed my hand against the seal feeding my chakra into it, "ok that should do it."
Grabbing Obito I begin walking quite some distance away. I doubt it's necessarily to be this far but safety first.
I consider myself quite the sensor so when I set off the seal I felt as the chakra went from being stagnant to building up much more energy than I thought my seal was capable of. Tuning to Obito I tackled him to the ground with my hands covering his ears.
Then a deafening boom rocked through the village.
