The more they oppose, the more it shows that I am doing the right thing
Chapter 266: The Final Stage, The Azure Sorceress Su Awakens_2
And then, personally kill everything within sight.
As long as you personally eradicate all of the Esoteric and Orthodox Churches, you could consider the Dawn Ceremony complete.
But this is the worst-case scenario, Cersei wasn't willing to do this, or rather, she had to endure not doing it, because this was being broadcast live.
Cersei slightly lowered her gaze, a hint of madness twinkling in her pure white pupils. After checking once again to ensure that there were no oversights and everything was foolproof, she gently closed her eyes. The upcoming process was crucial; she had to let go of all thoughts, converge her entire soul, and fully immerse herself in the ceremony.
Forcibly compressing the six-hour Dawn Ceremony into three was by no means an easy task.
She couldn't afford to get distracted, or else the ceremony would fail, the Holy Light would backlash and annihilate everything, and the altar would explode.
Clear the mind...
Cersei's soul instantly quieted down, like a clear blue tranquil lake, without a ripple or any impurity. She knelt before the statue, her pure white Saintess dress slightly wrinkled, her delicate, white limbs crossed in front of her chest, and her cherry blossom-like lips parted softly, chanting the prayers quietly.
Just before entering a state of self-forgetfulness, she faintly noticed An Su doing something outside the door. However, her perception of the outside world became indistinct, and the Holy Light Barrier directly blocked all external sounds, ensuring Cersei would not be disturbed. Her soul settled in the ocean of Holy Light, gathering all her consciousness to complete the final stages of the ceremony.
Suddenly, Cersei smelled a faint fragrance, a scent she recognized—Druid's Life Incense, which could pass through the Holy Light Barrier.
Was An Su trying to influence her with this scent... Cersei harbored a faint smile, ignoring these distractions, her mind as placid as still water.
Brilliant Radiance converged in front of the statue. There was half an hour left in the ceremony; victory's dawn was already illuminating the Princess's path. Clear the mind.
"Buzz~"
The discordant sound that was lurking in the church's dark depths suddenly arose.
Since the Holy Light Barrier had blocked out all external sounds, this noise could only be coming from inside the church.
Cersei paused momentarily but ignored the strange buzzing.
"Buzz buzz."
"Buzz buzz buzz."
"Buzz buzz buzz buzz buzz."
Little did she know, these discordant sounds were not Cersei's hallucinations... What peculiar creatures could they be?
Ignore it. Clear the mind.
Cersei slightly furrowed her brow, continuing to focus her mind on the ceremony. Yet, the more she concentrated, the louder and more grating those buzzing sounds became. Worse yet, Cersei realized that the noise seemed to be a surrounding sound...
That sound was circling around her!
The frequency was increasing, and the buzzing seemed to come from all directions, enveloping Cersei in a sweeping tide. In her mind, she was supposed to be walking in the ocean of Holy Light, but now, it felt as though she were wading through a sea of mosquitoes!
Cersei could sense it...
It was malevolence.
These weren't ordinary mosquitoes; they were mosquitoes that had achieved merit, enhanced by An Su, irradiated mosquitoes, calamitous Angel Flower Fairies.
It was the purest form of evil instinct from living beings, in stark contrast to Cersei's path of justice. All of Cersei's wrongdoings were for ultimate justice, whereas the mosquitoes' viciousness was simply to harass!
Just to disgust others!
She didn't know what this creature was, didn't know they were called mosquitoes, but a murderous intent arose within her. Once she ascended to Empress, she vowed to use the nation's power to exterminate such evil beings, to first annihilate the mosquitoes before dealing with the Tu people!
No matter what, she must focus her mind now and not be distracted.
Cersei calmed her mind, adjusting her mentality.
The next second, a Flower Fairy bit onto Cersei's left arm, and although there was no harm due to the rank difference, it still itched.
And Cersei felt an overwhelming, irresistible urge to slap this abominable creature to death!
Stay calm, don't move, don't move, don't hit it.
In her mind, she reminded herself not to stray from the path as she barely managed to stabilize the wavering Array of the ceremony, and so the Flower Fairy bit her right arm.
"..."
An Su!! What kind of creatures have you released in the room!
The nobles outside watching the screen noticed the change in the Princess's complexion and showed puzzled expressions—the Flower Fairies moved too swiftly for them to see clearly.
And Merlin sighed lightly; he had already guessed the mischief An Su had been up to in secret.
The Dawn Ceremony could not tolerate any disruptions, and Cersei had been cunningly undermined by An Su. However, An Su was not having an easy time either. If he wanted to outlast Cersei, he had to survive the Third Tier, the final phase, without any replenishment.
It all came down to who could endure to the end.
And the worst outcome would be both of them perishing together.
Even if An Su won, how would he complete the remaining Dawn Ceremony... Merlin's expression became increasingly subtle; surely the young man didn't expect to become the Dawn Saintess himself.
Regardless, the outcome, victory or defeat, depended on this final wave.
The smile playing on Merlin's lips grew more joyous. Despite the preposterous odds of the test, it was still entertaining enough to alleviate the tedium of his day job. As long as he was amused, it didn't matter who lost or won.
