Chapter 8: Chapter 8 : Memories
It's been two weeks since Harley and Marietta met. It was past midnight and ding was heard in a silent room.
Harley was on the balcony with a glass of wine in his hand. Went into the room, picked up his phone from the table, and went back to the balcony. He looked at the message that was written and who it was from.
"Why hasn't she slept yet? It's past midnight. Hm, I didn't know she was a night owl."
":I couldn't."
He hummed and told her not to worry about it and switched it off. He was about to dip it back in his pockets when he suddenly thought about something.
"Why not have a little fun." He said to himself with a smirk.
: "We only met two weeks ago and you keep trying to talk to me at every chance you get, you know that's called trying to act clingy right, or do you want me that much?"

Marietta stared at the message on her phone and was dumbfounded. She didn't know what to say and kept repeating the words in her head. She dropped the phone on the sofa and decided to think about her life until now.
"I've been lonely and bored since I got here, well that was until two weeks ago. I have to hold on to what makes my life a bit more fun right and I won't call that being clingy, or is it?"
After a while of thinking, she convinced herself that she wasn't being clingy. She typed a heartfelt message and hoped he had a heart and would reconsider his decision.
After waiting for two hours and no response, she thought he had gone to bed. She also decided to go to bed and wait for his response by daybreak.
Marietta kept checking her phone for any message for the past five hours, she had sent five different messages but Harley didn't reply to any. Frustrated, she dressed up in an all-black sweatshirt and pants and a black Snickers. She took her black backpack, wallet, phone, and keys and left the house.
She went to the same coffee shop where she met Harley the other day. She went to order an iced Americano, using her eye to scan the shop if she would see Harley but he wasn't there. A bit disappointed, she went to sit at the same spot she had been sitting since she met Harley.
She took out her phone and checked if he had sent a message and she didn't hear but there wasn't any. After sitting there for a couple of hours, she decided to go look for something to do.
Marietta walked through the Star City and didn't know when it turned dark and the rain started pouring heavily.
Trying to take cover from the rain, she bumped into something strong. She prepared to fall to the hard wet floor but was caught by a strong arm. She looked up, only to see a pair of bright blue emotionless eyes staring at her. She immediately burst into tears and hugged him.
Harley was stunned at what just happened and didn't know what to do. He tried pushing her away but she moved. After several times, he gave up and let her cry till she was done. For some reason, he felt bad and pitied her.
After crying for a while she let go of Harley, she asked where he had been and why he wasn't replying to her messages.
At first, he didn't want to answer but later thought he owed her an explanation.
He took her to cover from the rain and asked where she lived because his house was far from where they were and he didn't bring his car.
She took him to her house which was a few buildings away.
Marietta gave him a pair of clothes to change in and told him where the bathroom was. Twenty minutes later, they were both in the kitchen and sitting on the dining chair with a cup of hot chocolate and cookies for both of them.
"I had something to deal with in my Pack.
"You're a werewolf, how come I didn't know? Oh wait, I lost both my wolf and my memories, I guess that's why I didn't know."
"You lost both your wolf and memories? Interesting, tell me more."
"Are you kidding me, a werewolf like you told you she lost both her wolf and memories and all you could say is 'interesting, tell me more?" Marietta tried her best to keep her voice down, in case someone was eavesdropping.
"What did you want me to say? Oh wait, I think I know" Harley cleared his voice, sat up properly, and looked Marietta dead in the eyes with dead eyes. " I'm sorry for your loss, that's what you wanted to hear right? There I said happy?."
Marietta stared at him dumbfounded and helplessly, raising both her hands and shaking her head. "I give up, I give up."
"But I don't say anything wrong or treat you, I just confronted you, nothing big of a deal or something to give up on."
"What are you two talking about?" Zack asked, popping his head from behind Harley.
Marietta screamed her lungs out and fell off her chair. She stood up and ran to where the frying pan was and took one from where it was hanging.
"Who…who are you and how did you enter my house?" She asked with wide eyes.
?'? ???? ? ?????? ??? ??? ????? ??? ??????? ???? ?????? ??? ?? ??? ????????, ???? ??? ??? ?? ??? ???
"Hi, I'm Zack, Harley's beta. Sorry to scare you like that, I was just curious about what you guys were talking about.
Marietta looked at Harley who didn't look bothered and was sipping his hot chocolate and eating a piece of cookies.
"You're a wolf right, you should have heard me come in, I mean I made a lot of noise?" Zack asked, looking like he was deep in thought.
"She's lost both her wolf and her memories."
"What! So it's true."
"What is?" Marietta asked, looking at both Harley and Zack.
"A year ago, we heard a true Alpha was in the Laufey Pack and she lost her memories after waking up," Harley said, still looking at eating his cookie.
"Oh, so you think that person is me?"Marietta asked.
Harley nodded his head. Zack sat down beside Harley and said nothing.
Marietta put back the frying pan and asked if Zack wanted a cup of hot chocolate and he instantly nodded his head in excitement which made Marietta laugh and feel a bit at ease.
For the next two hours, Marietta and Zachatteding like they had been long-time friends catching up on their memories.
****
At midnight, Marietta is seen rolling on the bed and sweating all over her body flashes of Sylvie and her in school and talking about both Silas and Lolla hating her. It then shifted to when she was trying to shift into her wolf form but failed twice. It shifted again to when she was in pain.
Marietta woke up screaming which attracted both Harley's and Zack's attention. It was already daybreak, the sun was up and everyone was going about their day.
"What's wrong, what happened?" Harley asked immediately he barged into the room. Zack went to check the windows to see if anyone had gotten in without them knowing but found nothing suspicious.
Marietta was shaking when Harley went to meet her, he looked at Zack who was looking at him in shock and confusion.
Ten minutes later Marietta had calmed down and was drinking a cup of water, Harley was seated beside her and Zack was resting on a wall by the window and looking outside now and then.
Harley and Zack spoke to each other through their pack's mind link before looking at Marietta.
"Can you tell us what happened?" Harley asked.
"I had a nightmare or a memory in the form of a dream or something, I'm not sure."
"A memory in the form of a dream?" Harley respited it and looked at Zack.
"Can you tell us what you saw?"
"Yeah sure, hum, I saw myself talking to my best friend in school about the Alpha and Luna of my pack hating me and it then shifted to when I was trying to wake up my wolf but failed twice, and the third time I was in pain and that was when I woke up," Marietta said, drinking from the cup of water.
"Is that all?"
" Hum, yeah, I think, I can't remember the rest, it was unclear and I couldn't hear anything. What do you think that means?"
"It means your subconscious is trying to make you remember your past by showing it to you in the form of a dream." Early said looking like he was in deep thoughts.
"Okay, but why is my subconscious doing that?"
"I think it's trying to make you remember an important memory that you forgot." Zack who hadn't spoken since said.
