The Master of the Villains Has Disappeared

Chapter 9

"It's an honor to meet such esteemed individuals."

A gentle smile with soft eyes.

As if it were a form of respect towards the pillars of the empire, the youthful girl's figure slowly closed her eyes in just a few seconds.

However, for the sole reason that all six family heads were instantly outmaneuvered.

"Well then, please continue your conversation."

They remained silent even as she walked casually through the gazes all focused on one point.

The ancient dragon's emblem fluttered quietly with each gentle step.

Her footsteps, light in form but heavy in weight, soon left the dean's office completely.

Was it mere coincidence that the eyes of the family heads watching the girl all took on a serious color?

"...I admit she's extraordinary."

"Birds of a feather flock together, they say. That ancient dragon has raised a child just like himself."

"Am I the only one reminded of the Sage?"

"The Sage... She is similar indeed. Especially those eyes."

She didn't seem intimidated at all, even though each of the family heads was a power holder whose influence reached the sky.

How long has it been since they met someone so audacious?

The fact that Leta was the benefactor who saved the children of the six families had little impact on the current family heads.

The Leta they directly saw and felt was a person more unsettling yet intriguing than a mere benefactor.

They could somewhat understand how she could wear that ancient dragon's emblem.

Especially that unfathomable amount of mana.

'It would be good if we could make her an ally.'

'If we make her an enemy, it will surely become troublesome.'

'There was a reason the dean was confident.'

The family heads, who felt the flow of immense mana comparable to that of the Sage, finally acknowledged the new professor's qualifications.

A genius born of the times must refer to a child like her.

A realm that ordinary talents cannot reach even at the end of their lives.

The fact that she reached a realm at such a young age that even slightly shining talents would barely touch after a lifetime of effort means that her potential cannot be underestimated.

In other words, it means there's more to gain than lose with the girl's appearance.

This thought was possible because the girl had taken up teaching instead of a combat wand.

If she was willing to share that insight with others, there was no particular reason to refuse.

"Mana Design, was it?"

"Yes."

"This year's freshmen will be able to build a solid foundation from the basics. In a way, it's fortunate."

Having lived their entire lives with a perspective of gain and loss, they measured the 'value' of the new professor quite highly.

Therefore, they first intended to extract the knowledge the girl possessed.

However, in the end.

Like their ancestors had done, they planned to gradually coax and subjugate her as a member of their family.

If they could subjugate that unprecedented talent to their family, naturally the family would gain the alias of being the strongest.

They had not even a grain of sand's worth of thought to give her to others.

Perhaps that's why.

After returning to their respective families, the family heads left brief letters to their family's children.

'Attend Leta Yurt's class,' they said.

"Hmm, I didn't expect grandfather to say it directly."

"...Why is he paying attention to that young child?"

"Mana Design is a basic subject, though..."

The reactions of the students who received the letters were roughly of this form.

This was a phenomenon that occurred because the students did not yet know the weight carried by the ancient dragon's emblem.

They also failed to realize that the letters implicitly meant to dig up information about the person called Leta Yurt.

Nevertheless, unable to refuse an order from the family head, they signed up for the new professor's class with eyes half-questioning, half-curious.

And thus, an unexpected scene was born.

-Flutter.

-Flutter flutter.

-Flutter flutter flutter flutter...

"Um, Dean. Are all these... students who signed up for my class?"

"Regrettably, that's correct."

"Hmm, are the basics lacking that much..."

Not only most of the new students but also some senior students all wanted to take the Mana Design class.

Leta, who was well aware of Primus's high reputation, was bewildered.

Among them, the fact that even the top students from the six families had signed up for her class particularly surprised Leta.

After all, those names, which had appeared in the 'original work' Leta knew, were certainly geniuses that might appear once in a hundred years.

'What's this? A hidden camera prank?'

Such thoughts naturally arose in Leta's mind as the students' interest in the Mana Design subject seemed to reach the sky.

And thus, additional classes were eventually established.

No matter what, putting senior honor students and fresh newcomers in the same classroom was problematic in many ways.

That's why intermediate and advanced courses were newly created for the Mana Design subject, which was originally a basic course.

And so, after about three days had passed.

Finally, on the day of Leta's first class.

"Um, Professor."

"Yes?"

"I'm sorry, but... I can't see you well because of the podium."

"Ah."

Leta encountered a minor obstacle as soon as she arrived at Primus's vast auditorium.

Despite preparing diligently for the class and running several simulations, she hadn't calculated for the height of the podium.

"Hmm..."

So in the end, Leta simply pushed aside the podium that was covering everything below her nose.

Only then could she fully face the numerous students' faces.

'My, so many have come...'

Even though the students were divided into three classes - basic, intermediate, and advanced - it was still this many.

Crucially, the fact that the class Leta was currently in was the advanced class with the smallest number of students made Leta wear a sheepish smile.

Still, in a way, they were all students who came wanting to hear her lecture.

Leta wanted to respond to the students' enthusiasm in her own way.

"Well then. Let's begin."

Then, a round circle was drawn.

A circle, which is like the foundation of magic circles, was drawn in the air, catching the students' attention.

"A magic circle is a diagram that controls the flow of mana. Therefore, the circular form that allows mana to spread evenly is considered ideal."

Shortly after, a very simple diagram was engraved inside the circle.

The students' heads tilted at this simple diagram representing a gentle breeze-level wind magic.

This was natural.

None of the students gathered in the auditorium now were unfamiliar with such basic magic.

'What's this?'

'Wasn't this... the advanced class?'

'Hmm...'

As most of the students were looking at Leta's class with questioning eyes.

-Rustle.

New diagrams began to be drawn over the basic magic circle floating in the air.

What started was an array of magic circles like a long chronicle.

"There are individual elements that compose it, and as long as these elements have regularity. Magic circles are a kind of language."

The magic circle that started from a very basic stage gradually progressed to an intermediate stage as time passed.

From intermediate to advanced.

From advanced, finally to.

"If you interpret and read what the magic circle as a language is trying to say, you'll be able to see. What it discarded and what it chose to evolve from a gentle breeze to a typhoon."

It evolved into a terrifying gale magic powerful enough to blow away this entire area lightly.

However, the final stage magic circle looked somewhat strange to the students.

Certainly, its form and structure resembled the previous stage's magic circle, but how should they put it. It looked more like a mutation than development.

It seemed like the flow was continuing, but at some point, it was cut off. It was awkward in many ways.

As the students' heads tilted once again at this unknown unnaturalness.

"Now then. Analyze, deconstruct, and reassemble into the same form as this magic circle here, as you've learned in the past."

Another new magic circle rose up, showing the students' goal.

At this, the students finally began to deconstruct the magic circle following the rules established in their minds, putting their questions aside.

Eventually, after transforming the magic circle to the smallest unit that could be deconstructed.

Following Leta's explanation, they carefully reassembled it into a new form.

"...Huh?"

Instead of a sense of achievement for having done it, they felt a numbing shock as if they had been hit hard on the back of the head.

The magic circle now drawn before the students' eyes was mercilessly trampling on everything that had been passed down over a vast amount of time.

It was forcibly binding together things that had been discarded or excluded, considered to be in the realm of inefficiency or impossibility.

However, it was surprisingly precise, and they couldn't find any contradictions anywhere.

The relationships discovered from things that had naturally degraded over time brought about an unexpected paradigm shift.

A conviction that there probably isn't a more magical magic than this.

Things that were clearly inefficient up to a few stages ago had now transformed into something more practical than anything else.

Also, things that were thought impossible and forgotten, as if mocking the years they had been ignored. They were clearly showing their presence in the softly glowing magic circle.

"You need to know how to use everything that can be used. Originally, exploration and discovery are the basic virtues of magic studies."

The regularity and development of magic learned in the process of studying hundreds of magic circles in the past. Or the flow of evolution.

Even the absolute and unchanging principles that had been considered natural for eons of time were instantly made ridiculous by it...

"As far as I know, you have already learned a lot. So instead of teaching something new, I intend to."

-Rustle.

"Teach you how to handle what you've learned. In a more efficient and practical form."

Revolution.

It could only be expressed with this one word.
