Chapter 7
"I was wrong, so please calm down."
"No. What could a commoner have done wrong? It's all my fault."
Belver suppressed his desire to say "Yes, that's right" with transcendent patience.
If she really thought it was her fault, she wouldn't be so obviously showing that she was upset.
When he took one step closer to the side, she moved one step away.
When he tried to talk to her, she kept saying everything was her fault.
He was certain she wanted something.
Even knowing this, it was hard to say it.
This would be giving in too much.
The reason he exploded was clearly because Bellatrix wouldn't stop teasing him.
She had only been shocked and hadn't even been unconscious for long.
'I'll give in. I'm a man among men, a real man. I can give in to some sulking.'
Belver finally decided to fall for Bellatrix's wicked scheme.
He thought this was the path to growing as a splendid real man.
He completely failed to notice that he was being manipulated.
"Lady Bellatrix. I'll grant you one wish, so please stop being angry."
"Really? Anything goes?"
"Really! See, you weren't really angry! If you keep teasing me like this, I'll get angry too!"
"Sorry. So anything goes, right?"
"Yes. But this is the only time I'm giving in like this. Got it?"
Belver declared firmly while holding up his index finger.
He really would only give in this once.
From now on, he would clearly point out when something was wrong.
If he didn't receive an apology, he would really get angry.
If all else failed, maybe crying would work as a last resort.
Huh! Belver shook his head vigorously, startled by his own thoughts.
Making Bellatrix troubled by crying - this wasn't something a real man in his common sense would do.
Wasn't this really the kind of thought that, as she said, only a young maiden would have?
He nodded, making a firm resolution never to have such thoughts again.
Bellatrix burst into laughter as she had been holding back at his appearance—speaking cutely, suddenly shaking his head, and finally nodding resolutely.
How hard it had been to hold in her laughter with this adorable creature beside her.
It was even harder than when she had an audience with the Emperor as a child.
How cute it was when he approached nervously after she obviously showed she was upset.
She had almost ended up patting his head in the street full of students.
'Should I do it? It seems rumors will spread anyway.'
Others had already witnessed Belver's sudden actions several times, and in the morning lecture, she had obviously shown favoritism.
Though it wasn't that she had changed, they would misunderstand that Bellatrix had some kind of close relationship with him.
From their perspective, wouldn't it look like Bellatrix had fallen completely for some nameless commoner?
She realized it was already too late to hide everything.
Then, was there a way to use this?
Thinking carefully, she realized there were a few options, but she couldn't do them now.
At least, she needed to build more fame and power first.
For now, she should focus on Belver beside her.
"Then will you go on a date with me tomorrow for the whole day?"
"A date...?"
"Yes. I wanted to try dating someone of the opposite sex when I wasn't myself. If I became a man, with a woman; if I became a woman, with a man."
"You've been thinking about such things...? Then even this change...?"
"If I could do that, would I have come to the academy? I just wanted to be anyone but Bellatrix. So, will you do it or not?"
Belver stared at Bellatrix, who obviously showed she didn't want to be asked about her reasons.
She sulked as she pleased, got everything she wanted, and gave nothing in return.
He couldn't help but glare.
Still, he didn't probe further.
He, too, had thought about wanting to become someone else.
Everyone has their own circumstances.
And he also held back from asking if it had to be himself.
That would really be an impolite question.
Though he wanted to return what he got, he didn't really want to fight.
Belver finally realized there was only one answer.
He couldn't understand how he ended up switching bodies with such a mischievous and selfish person.
He couldn't help but wonder what it would have been like if she had been someone a little more modest.
"I'll do it. I have no choice, do I?"
"Of course. Do I look like someone who would say such things?"
"Yes. You do."
"I think so too. But you'll still do it, right?"
"No, I won't!"
Belver's body tensed up.
As expected, she was full of intentions to say two different things with one mouth.
How could someone be so shameless?
For him, who had never lied in his life even though he had hidden parts of himself, it couldn't help but be shocking.
And her tone suggesting that, of course, he would agree made him feel even stranger.
What exactly did she think of him?
He should properly refuse and defeat her with words.
'A real man should know how to refuse.'
To refuse, he needed to notice when he was naturally getting swept along with the atmosphere.
He couldn't let his guard down until tomorrow.
Who knew when this shameless person would try to take advantage?
"This is the classroom. When we go in, act properly like me. Don't speak. You know, right? My manners are perfect."
"Yes. I know. I can do it."
"Oh my, how hurtful. So this is what the commoner thought of me."
"Eek! Just go in!"
Should he be impressed that she tried teasing him until the end?
Belver held back from screaming and lecturing her because they were right in front of the classroom.
How could someone have so little gravity?
He opened the classroom door, leaving behind the grinning Bellatrix.
Of course, he started his expressionless acting to imitate her.
At least he could do this much.
Though he felt he had copied her way of speaking accurately, she absolutely forbade him from speaking.
'I want to go back to the dormitory...'
Belver suppressed his desire to return when he was met with a flood of stares as soon as he opened the door.
As expected of a famous person, she seemed to know many people.
When he glanced to the side, Bellatrix was calmly receiving the stares.
She had come in with him and surely received similar or even more stares.
He went up to the highest seat, looking for a place where gazes wouldn't reach.
Surely, a noble lady wouldn't turn around and stare openly.
"You're doing well. Just keep doing that."
"Yes."
He answered in a whisper and sat straight, looking forward.
Belver was looking forward to it now.
What would a magic lecture in a fantasy world be like?
After all, Bellatrix had only teased him instead of giving the lecture she had promised.
Zap. Suddenly remembering what happened at the dormitory, Belver glared at Bellatrix.
She just smirked while calmly receiving his gaze.
What was the point of glaring at such a person?
He let out a deep internal sigh and looked forward again.
Whenever he paid attention to her, he felt like he was always getting dragged along.
Then, his eyes met with a woman who was openly staring from behind.
He wondered who would openly observe a noble lady, but looking back, it was someone who could.
It was her - the heroine of the original work and Bellatrix's rival.
None other than Roho, the second daughter of the Red Tower Master and practically confirmed as the next Red Tower Master.
'What should I do about this?'
Belver faced a very troublesome situation.
As soon as their eyes met, Roho smiled brightly and waved her hand in greeting.
She was obviously being friendly, and since Belver liked Roho too, he felt a strong desire to return the greeting.
However, such action was clearly far from what Bellatrix would do.
After all, she extremely disliked Roho.
It was written that she disliked her so much she felt nauseous just being together.
So Belver shouldn't be friendly, either.
Then how should he handle this?
This was the problem.
He hadn't received instructions from Bellatrix about what to do in such cases.
"What's wrong?"
Belver poked Bellatrix under the desk.
While continuing to look at Roho.
When there was no answer, Bellatrix, who had discreetly checked the surroundings, noticed what was happening.
Then she spoke and acted with a troubled voice.
"My lady. What are you thinking?"
Whoosh! Belver's face burned red with embarrassment.
He was severely impacted by Bellatrix's action of trying to help.
She had forcibly turned his head to make him look at her.
The action itself wasn't a problem, but being right next to each other was.
Because they ended up facing each other at an extremely close distance.
Thanks to this, Belver could see his own face quite clearly.
He wanted to lecture her again about this completely unladylike behavior but held back because they were in public.
Instead, he spoke to tell her to control herself.
"Don't do this in public."
"Yes. If that's what my lady wishes."
Look at her smirking while turning her head away.
If she had been born a man, she definitely would have made women cry.
She was making them cry now too, but in a slightly different sense.
"The lecture will begin."
The professor entered with perfect timing and started the lecture.
What kind of lecture would it be?
***
"How was it? Was it helpful at all?"
"No. Not at all."
The two-hour basic magic theory lecture was completely unhelpful.
It only talked about theories Belver already knew, with no practical exercises at all.
There seemed to be no reason to attend such lectures.
He had high expectations, so the disappointment was big.
In the end, he would have to learn from Bellatrix.
However, it was questionable whether she would teach properly.
Wouldn't she just spend time playing pranks again?
"Let's go back."
"Yes."
"Could I talk to you for a moment?"
Just as they were about to leave after the lecture ended, Roho came to find Belver.
At the emergency siren blaring in his head, Belver quickly looked at Bellatrix.
A look asking her to do something.
"It will really just be a moment."
This was a real emergency.
If they weren't careful, the fact that they had switched bodies would be discovered right now.
