Chapter 8: Chapter 008 : First Contract Signed!
After Naruto and Aria stepped out of the car, they made their way into the building. The security guards recognized them immediately and let them pass without any issues.
In just a few minutes, Choi Jong-in himself came out to greet Naruto. He approached with a warm smile and offered his hand for a handshake. Naruto, feeling a bit bold, returned the smile and shook his hand confidently.
Choi Jong-in cut an impressive figure. He wasn't very tall, but he had a strong presence. He wore stylish rectangular glasses that highlighted his sharp features and gave him a sophisticated look. His dark hair was neatly styled, and he was dressed in a smart, tailored suit, much like the ones Naruto had seen him wear on TV and during their last meeting.
The last time Naruto met Choi Jong-in, the guild master of the hunter's guild, it was right before and after his re-evaluation. Back then, Naruto didn't really notice the strong presence that he was feeling now. The mana energy surrounding Choi was incredibly intense, and Naruto understood why people referred to him as a one-man army!
"Welcome, Mr. Uzumaki!" Choi Jong-in greeted Naruto warmly. As he spoke, he glanced past Naruto to Aria, who was standing behind him.
Noticing Choi Jong-in's gaze, Aria quickly explained, "I have some work to do, so I'll leave you two to talk." With that, she promptly walked away, not giving him a chance to respond or say anything else.
They stood there in silence for a few moments until Choi Jong-in broke it, saying, "Don't worry about her. Let's head to the meeting room first, and we can go over the contract details there," he said in a calm, reassuring voice.
Naruto nodded and followed Choi Jong-in.
After a short walk, they arrived at the meeting room. Naruto took a seat as Choi Jong-in instructed someone to fetch the contract files and additional documents. Choi then sat down across from Naruto.
Leaning back slightly but still maintaining a friendly manner, Choi Jong-in said, "Naruto, we're really glad to have you here. We're excited about the possibility of you joining us."
Naruto returned the greeting with a warm smile, saying, "I'm honored to have the opportunity to work with you, and I'm looking forward to it as well."
"That's wonderful to hear! Now, let's dive into the contract..."
"Sure!" Naruto replied eagerly.
Choi Jong-in grinned. "The contract outlines what we expect from you and what you can anticipate from us. It details the types of missions you'll be part of and the support you'll receive from the guild during raids."
Just then, an assistant entered the room and placed a stack of documents on the table. Choi Jong-in gestured towards them. "These documents contain all the specifics. Take your time to go through them."
Naruto nodded and picked up the documents from the table, skimming through the contract with remarkable speed. In less than 45 seconds, he looked up and said, "I think it's good with me!" as he placed the document back on the table.
The contract detailed a B-Rank mission with the Hunter Guild's First Team, known as Team A. The main change was that Naruto would be taking Choi Jong-in's place, while Cha Hae-In, the vice guild master, would lead the raid. The contract offered a decent upfront payment, along with extra bonuses for each monster defeated, though the amounts were relatively modest. However, based on all the research Naruto had done and his own knowledge, he felt it was a solid deal, especially considering it was his first raid and it was also benefiting him by making the chance of entering a dungeon for the first time.
"You can feel free to ask any questions about the contract if you have any!" Choi Jong-in offered.
"No, it's all good. I don't have any questions about the contract," Naruto replied confidently.
"Great, then..." Choi Jong-in said as he handed Naruto a pen. "We can go ahead and have you sign the contract."
Naruto took the pen, nodded, and signed his name on the contract.
Just as he finished signing, there was a knock on the meeting room door. With only the two of them present, Choi Jong-in called out, inviting the person to come in.
A woman entered with flowing chestnut hair and captivating emerald eyes, dressed in an elegant blazer and tailored skirt.
"Guild Master Choi, I understand you wanted me to meet our new team member for the upcoming raid?" she said in a serious tone.
Naruto, still focused on signing the contract, immediately recognized the voice without needing to look up. It was Cha Hae-In, the Vice Guild Master of the Hunter Guild! He thought to himself, though he didn't turn around just yet.
"Yes, Cha Hae-In!" Choi Jong-in replied as he stood up from his seat. "As we discussed, meet Naruto Uzumaki. He'll be joining your team for the upcoming raid." He gestured towards Naruto, who also stood up.
Cha Hae-In turned her attention to Naruto, her expression softening a bit as she extended her hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Naruto Uzumaki. I've heard promising things about you."
Naruto shook her hand with a firm grip and offered a friendly smile. "Nice to meet you too, Vice Guild Master Cha. I'm really looking forward to working with you and the team."
After a brief conversation, Cha Hae-In left the room, leaving only Naruto and Choi Jong-in inside.
As she walked through the hallway outside the meeting room, Cha Hae-In pondered, "His magical energy was enormous indeed. But it wasn't like anyone else's. It felt completely different, something I can't even put into words..." Her expression showed a mix of confusion and intrigue as she continued down the hall.
Inside the meeting room, Choi Jong-in spoke up, "So, the deal is confirmed. The raid will be happening two days from today." He extended his hand for a handshake, marking the completion of their agreement.
Naruto reached out and shook hands firmly, beaming with a cheerful grin. "I'm really happy to sign this contract," he said.
With that, the agreement for a B-Rank Dungeon Raid was complete. In just two days, Naruto would be joining the Hunters Guild to take on the raid.
[Hunter Association Headquarter]
The Hunter Association Chairman was sitting in his office, sorting through a stack of documents and paperwork related to the association, when he heard a knock at the door.
"Come in!" he called out.
Woo Jin Chul entered the room, holding his phone.
"What is it?" Go Gunhee asked calmly, finishing up the review of one of the last papers.
"It's about Naruto Uzumaki, Chairman," Jin Chul began.
"What about him?" Go Gunhee inquired.
"The Hunter's Guild has announced a contract with him. It seems Naruto has already signed a deal with them," Jin Chul explained, showing an Instagram post and an article from the Hunters Guild's official website.
"Are there any details about the contract?" Go Gunhee asked, still calm, as if he had expected this to happen.
"No, sir."
"So, it really came down to money," Go Gunhee sighed. He didn't hold it against Naruto, though. Given the circumstances, who wouldn't make the same choice? "What's the latest on that double dungeon case?" he asked, shifting the conversation to the recent dungeon incident.
"It's still under investigation, sir. We're doing everything we can to uncover what happened inside," Jin Chul responded.
Go Gunhee sighed again and turned his chair to gaze out of the large glass window. "It's been so many years since the first dungeon appeared, yet we continue to stumble upon new mysteries within them. It seems we still haven't grasped the true essence of these dungeons," he pondered aloud.
