The Last Saint Sanctum

Chapter 10: The Last Lesson

The sound of clashing swords echoed through the stillness of the forest, a sharp rhythm cutting through the quiet of the morning. In the shadows of the woods, flashes of light burst like fireflies golden arcs of energy radiating with each swing. The glow deepened, casting an ethereal aura across the trees, the light of Sanctum burning brightly in the heart of the battle.

A final, fierce strike sent the ground trembling as the light surged. Then silence.

Celeste stood gasping for air, her sword trembling in her grip. Sweat dripped down her forehead, her chest rising and falling with the weight of exertion. Across from her, Kite lowered his blade, a faint smile tugging at his lips.

"You’ve done it," he said, his voice calm but tinged with pride. "You’ve perfected it."

Celeste blinked through the sweat and exhaustion, still processing the moment. Her body screamed from the intensity of the sparring match. They had been going for what felt like hours, and now finally she had done it.

"One of the ultimate move of Saint Swordsmanship," Kite continued, still smiling as he sheathed his blade. "You’ve mastered it."

Her heart pounded, and for a moment, she didn’t know what to say. Perfected it? The words echoed in her mind, disbelief washing over her. The very technique Kite had spoken about when she first began her training the move no other swordsman alive knew how to perform. She had done it.

She feels like these before, when he master programing or when he finished college, its an achievement and fulfillment celeste has feel before, but these time its special, she doesn’t do anything lazy or halfhearted, she give her 100 percent on this. With a groan, Celeste collapsed onto the ground, her back hitting the cool earth. The sky above was endless, the trees swaying gently in the breeze. She let her sword rest beside her, closing her eyes for a moment, letting the rush of adrenaline fade.

Five years. It had been five long years since Kite first took her in, since she had clumsily swung a practice sword in these same woods, unsure of herself, unsure of her path. And now, as she lay on the forest floor, the weight of everything they had been through together hit her like a wave.

She could remember the grueling days of training, the hours spent honing her skills, the way Kite had pushed her to master the Sanctum within her. It wasn’t just about learning to fight it was about understanding her power, feeling the pure mana or the sanctum flow through her veins, and wielding it with precision and purpose.

Kite had taught her more than she ever thought possible. Every technique, every strike each one was a lesson in control, in balance. She had learned to move with the fluidity and grace of a Saint Swordsman, to channel Sanctum in ways she never thought she could. It was no longer just an energy inside her it was an extension of her being.

"Well," Kite said, standing over her, his face blocking the sunlight as he peered down at her, "are you just going to lie there all day, or should we celebrate your achievement properly?"

Celeste cracked an exhausted grin. "I think I’ve earned a few minutes of rest, Master."

Kite chuckled, a rare sound, but one Celeste had grown to appreciate. Over the years, his stoic exterior had softened around her, and though he was still a man of few words, moments like these made her realize how much they had bonded.

"I guess you have," he said, sitting down beside her, his back against a tree. The two of them sat in comfortable silence for a moment, the only sound the gentle rustle of leaves overhead.

"You’re young to have mastered something like this," Kite said, his tone thoughtful. "Few would have believed it possible for someone your age."

Celeste laughed softly. "Honestly, I can’t believe it either. Five years ago, I didn’t even know how to properly hold a sword, and now…"

in celeste mind, yeah its not really hard when you already been reincarnated and have a mind of a grown man inside, I’m quick to catch up or to guess the idea and just struggle to execute it.

"Now you’re one of the few remaining Saint Swordsmen in the world," Kite finished for her. He smiled again, a rare, proud expression on his face.

Celeste’s laughter faded, her gaze lingering on the forest’s edge. There was something Kite didn’t know about her. Something no one knew. Her mind flickered briefly to the memories of her past life, the life she had lived before she was Celeste. A life she would never share with anyone.

It was the only secret she would take to her grave.

"Feels strange," she said after a moment, pushing the memories of her old life away. "I’ve finally found a purpose in this one."

Kite looked at her, his expression softening. "Surreal, yes. But earned."

Celeste smiled, grateful for his words but still holding on to the one truth he would never know. She was Celeste now, not the person she used to be, and the path ahead was hers alone.

"Speaking of legacies," Kite said, shifting to a more serious tone, "you know what’s next for you."

Celeste nodded, sitting up slowly. Her body was still sore, but she could feel her energy returning. She rested her arms on her knees, looking out into the forest, her mind already racing with thoughts of the future.

"I have to go," she said quietly. "I know. we need to find the remnants of the Luminous Oath."

Kite nodded. "The knowledge we have is incomplete. There are sanctuaries places of Sanctum, temples, relics all scattered across the world. If you can find them, you might be able to unlock more than what I’ve taught you. Maybe even restore the Luminous Oath to what it once was."

Celeste smiled wryly. "No pressure, right?"

"None at all," Kite said with a grin. "Besides, I’m heading out on my own journey. The world’s a big place, and I’ve heard rumors of something across the seas. Something… ancient."

"Ancient?" Celeste raised an eyebrow. "You’re not giving me much to go on."

Kite shrugged. "It’s better that way. Keeps things interesting."

She laughed. "Of course. And here I thought you’d at least tell me where to find some of these relics."

"You’ll figure it out," Kite said, rising to his feet and offering her a hand. "You’ve always been good at that."

Celeste took his hand and stood, her legs wobbly from the effort. They stood facing each other for a long moment, the weight of their years together hanging in the air.

"Thank you," Celeste said finally, her voice soft but sincere. "For everything."

Kite gave her a slight nod. "It’s been my honor, Celeste. You’ve surpassed my expectations. But this is where our paths diverge."

Celeste swallowed the lump in her throat. She knew this day was coming, but it didn’t make it any easier.

"We’ll meet again," Kite said, his voice carrying an air of finality. "Let’s say… ten years from now. At this spot. We’ll see how far you’ve come."

"Ten years?" Celeste shook her head, a smile tugging at her lips. "You’re giving me a long time to get lost, Master."

"I trust you won’t disappoint me."

Celeste grinned, the familiar banter easing the tension in her chest. "I’ll make sure I don’t."

The sun was beginning to dip lower in the sky, casting long shadows through the trees. The quiet of the forest settled around them, peaceful and still. Tomorrow, they would both walk separate paths Kite to distant lands, and Celeste into the unknown, searching for the relics of a lost order.

But for now, they stood together, master and student, bound by a shared legacy.

The Next Morning

The air was crisp, the sky painted with the soft hues of dawn. Celeste stood at the edge of the woods, her sword strapped to her back, ready to leave.

Kite was there beside her, his own journey awaiting him across the seas.

“Master kite, before we part our ways can you tell me who is your master?”

Kite Gently smile while looking at Celeste.” My master,...She was an excellent amazing with swords, I apologize if up to these point im not telling anything about her. She died because of her old age, she died more than 20 years ago, she is one of the survivor of the ancient war and a founding member of The Luminous Oath.”

Celeste’s eyes widen when she heard what kite said.

“but you told me that the war happen hundred or thousand of years ago right master? How come that she was still alive when you meet her? Is that possible? She would have been more that a thousand years old when you first meet her.”

Kite lookdown remembering the time he spent with her master and with a bitter smile kite reply.

“Celeste there are more in Sanctum that we both knows, but I think is for sure that, as you can see now you and I have a tremendous healing or regenerative power, our wounds can quickly healed by a second, our body is sacred bound by the sanctum. If you get the idea already.. it’s possible for us to live longer.. I think you already know these too. My age is not what you think, I’m older than that.”

Celeste cant believe the things she was hearing, how can she didn’t think the possibility of it an now it make’s sense. Every day she train with kite, she got injure she got cut she got bruises and worst injury you can think of, and when she sleep for that night, tomorrow morning she doesn’t really feels the injury anymore. So Sanctum is just like that?.

“I kind of get it now master, I’m sorry for not picking these up, knowing sanctum have these kind of ability too make me anxious, don’t worry master I will take care of my self and make sure to not gather any attentions.”

Kite responded back and she pat celeste head. “ its ok celeste even I, need much more learning about sanctum that’s why were going for these adventure, just make sure to have a lowkey life right now, don’t try to show off and just use the basic’s Teknik’s or skills that I teach you.”

kite words suddenly go serious. “ but if the situations really bad and if you think you need to use one of the sanctum art skill’s use it specially when there’s a life in danger”

celeste nod and agree on kite’s words.

"No more turning back," she said with a grin, trying to lighten the moment.

Kite smiled faintly. "No turning back."

They exchanged one last nod, a silent agreement. Ten years. Ten years to carve their own paths, to find what the world had lost.

As Celeste began to walk, the weight of her new purpose settled on her shoulders. She was no longer the person she had been in her past life. She was a Saint Swordsman, a wielder of Sanctum, the last of her kind.

And she wasn’t afraid.
