The Knight of Ruin(DxD)

Chapter 36: Moving to Castle Bael.

Romonus waited patiently as the servants severed his room, bathroom, and forge room which was connected to the room from the mansion. It was honestly a lot of work which took a team of 12 Bael Devil Mages over an hour to finish.

Even though they were low-level servants because they were still trained mages. In the meantime, Romonus just chatted with Akeno and Itsuki who were fully interested in the work of the mages.

Though, Romonus could tell that the mages wanted nothing to do with either girl. The Bael clan surely was the one with the most vanity in blood purity which was partially true. However, without any training, even a Noble would fall to a commener.

Suddenly, Romonus saw his pet Kharn the Honey Badger walking down the hall with his little legs. He snarled and snorted as he walked until he saw Romonus. The Badger walked up to him and walked up his leg to reach his shoulder.

He hissed at Itsuki and Akeno once he got up there which was funny because they were stronger than him. Thankfully Rias had taught him how to use Demonic Energy thanks to him being in a contract with Romonus.

Though, Romonus expected him to evolve thanks to his Ascension, but seemed that had yet to happen. In the meantime, the 12 all-male team did not speak as they managed to fully remove his room from the Gremory Formation. The head mage walked forward and activated a spell formation they had set up.

Under the surprised eyes of Itsuki and Akeno, Romonus's giant room, restroom, and forge room began to shrink down into a small Rubix cube. The man walked over to Romonus and handed the cube to him.

"Here you are."

Romonus reached out and took hold of his room now the size of a cube. When he looked back at the now hollow spot in the mansion it began to fill in once more. Most buildings in the Underworld could be made from Demonic Energy which made it cheaper and easier.

Before it filled in the head mage spoke up.

"Are you and your servants ready to go Young Master?"

"Yes. We are ready."

The 12 mages surrounded Romonus, Itsuki, Akeno and Kharn before activating a grand teleport circle to teleport. In a flash of light, everyone was transported from the Gremory Domain to the Bael Territory.

When the teleport ended, Romonus looked up at the giant black stone Castle of the Bael Clan. It was the most heavily defended location in all the Underworld. In the Light Novel despite Sairaorg becoming the heir, Zekram told him to become a Satan instead.

Unless a Bael was born with the Power of Destruction they would never be accepted. Magdaran did not have the personality to lead while Romonus did. The lead mage turned to Romounus.

"Young Master, follow me. I shall show you where we will place your room."

"Alright, Itsuki, Akeno let's go."

Both girls began to walk next to him, but already he could see them getting the side eye. He reached down and patted both their heads.

'Here, you have to be made of thick skin. Thicker than Kharn.'

Both of them stood straight and walked confidently next to him. As for Kharn, since he was familiar no one would disrespect him. Plus, he was fearless enough to try to pick a fight with Sirzechs without flinching which was just crackhead energy.

As Romonus walked through the main courtyard he saw gorgeous purple flowers. Itsuki and Akeno seemed enthralled by the flowers and even Kharn was smelling the air. Now that he thought about it he turned to the servant leading him.

"I have a question, do you keep Bees here?"

The man shook his head.

"No. Why?"

"My pet here is a Honey Badger, and as his namesake he loves Honey. He deserves only the best and I think keeping a Bee hive of magical Bees to make some Honey for him or to sell would be a good idea."

Just as the servant was going to speak he heard a male voice.

"What an excellent idea. Would you speak to me more on this when you get a chance, Cousin?"

Romonus stopped when he saw his half-cousin Magdaran. Itsuki looked back and forth from both young men and realized something. She pointed at Magdraran and made her observation.

"Hey, you look almost the same as the boss. Same black hair, purple eyes, short hair, only that you are scrawnier and shorter than Romonus. Even your faces look almost like you were brothers."

Magdaran chuckled at her words.

"Yes, well I am not a fighter. I much prefer botany and these flowers here were extinct. I recreated them from dried-out preserved seeds from before the Great War. Now, your idea to have bees pollinate them to make Honey seems like a good idea.

And you want to do this just for your pet? He looks snappy."

Kharn sniffed the air before jumping off and walking over to a flower to smell it. He took a deep breath of the flower before his eyes opened with joy. He turned around while licking his lips as he wanted honey.

Romonus nodded as he walked over to the Badger to pick him up who was drooling up a storm.

"Yes. While buying Honey myself is cheap, I think he should get a fresh one from the best. I am glad to talk to you like this cousin, we have only seen each other a few times throughout the years.

Every single time your Father kept us from talking about our hobbies. Not many know this, but I also have a hobby related to yours. I am an Alchemist and I buy different herbs and materials in bulk, but some have long since extinct which I want to use.

If I am to become Lord Bael rather than you I will want to invest in your research. Bringing back long-extinct herbs, trees, flowers, and grasses which I could use to make more potions.

Magdaran's eyes went wide as his parents had never cared for his dreams.

"You would support my research?"

Romonus walked over and placed a hand on his shoulder.

"Your work matters more than you know cousin. Let's talk later alright?"

Magdaran smiled genuinely smiled.

"That is a relief to hear."

The servant who had been ignored cleared his voice.

"Young Master, we should be off. Lord Bael will not want us to delay."

"Fine. Let's make this quick because I want to see my Mother and get back to my training."

The servant nodded.

"At once."

Romonus placed Kharn back on his shoulder and walked off following the servant. Once they entered Castle Bael Romonus instantly felt the power humming through the structure.

Iver 50 different defensive formations were placed on the black magical stone with hundreds of trained guards patrolling at all times. Romonus turned to the servant before speaking.

"Lead me to my Mother. I want to place my room near her and I also want my two servants Akeno and Itsuki placed near her as well."

The servant nodded.

"If that is what you desire Young Master."

The servant led them down the castle's seemingly never-ending halls until they reached the location where Venelana stayed. This was her room back when she was a child only that now it had been renovated after being unused for centuries.

When they arrived the servant turned to Romonus.

"Lady Venelana is not here at the moment, she has gone out to train."

He said the last part with a bit of disbelief. In the mind of his servant, no Noble should lower them self to something like that. Romonus decided to impart some wisdom on this old fool.

"I can feel the disrespect in your words. Is their something wrong with training? If one does nothing for centuries at a time and stagnates than they are worthless. How old are you?"

The servant answered.

"1,300 years old."

"And you are not even an Ultimate Class Devil, just a High-Class servant. Sent out to do errands. Itsuki here a Reborn Devil could wipe the floor with you. You had over a millennia to train and you did not. There is nothing shameful in training, only shameful to not train. I will not tolerate slackers once I become Lord Bael."

He released a portion of his aura which weighed down on this old Devil. The man could feel pride in Romonus' gaze, pride in his training, pride in his power, pride in his superiority.

He did not know what to say as he felt shame at the words. He only felt pride in the aura which was the sin Romonus embodied. Every Devil had a sin they embodied with Pride being Romonus'.

"You speak the truth, I feel it."

"Good. Accepting that is the first part of improving."

The servant walked over to the room across from Venelana and looked inside.

"The cube."

Romonus handed the cube over and saw the man place it down in the middle of the room. Using some spells he had not seen before he saw the cube sucked down into the floor. The man left the room and under the surprised gaze of Romonus, he saw his room begin to cannibalize that section of the castle.

"If you want an extension to your room, you may do so. While this finishes setting up I will speak now of what will happen. Tomorrow, you will be allowed to select up to 10 maids to look after your quarters and 5 servants to do menial tasks for you.

After that, when Lord Bael has the time you shall learn of ruling House Bael in the future."

Romonus made it known straight off the bat.

"I won't be staying long at the mansion. I will begin to go out through the world as I have goals to accomplish."

"How long?"

"Maybe months or longer at a time. The world is vast and I am not going to be stuck in the castle this whole time. I have enough power to start moving around."

"When will you leave?"

"I will wait until the Ball you will have for my 12th birthday. However, it cannot be on the same day as I have a previous appointment. Where I will go I do not know. For now, let us not delay."

By this point, his room had finished being set up and was part of the Bael formations. He even expected that it would get bigger so he looked down at Itsuki and Akeno.

"Girls wait in my room ok?"

Itsuki nodded.

"Ok. Come on Akeno."

She pulled Akeno along with her so now it was just Kharn, the servant, and Romonus.

"Right. Take me to my Uncle."

"At once Young Master."

Romonus hated restraining his power as he was always proud of his strength. However, he was playing the waiting game until he could pop off when needed. Though, despite just barely taking in the bloodline of Sparda his power was itching to grow.

He knew that he would need time to unlock his Devil Trigger or even the Sin Devil Trigger which would rise his strength. However, this was just potential, and if he was a waste he wouldn't ever master this power.

Eventually, the old Devil led him to his Uncle Azland's office. He knocked at the two enchanted wood doors three times.

"Lord Bael, your nephew has arrived."

"Enter."

The servant opened the door and led to a massive office. Romonus' Uncle Azland sat at a large desk moving through different paperwork with insane efficiency. Now that Romonus saw it he saw that his Uncle was using a spell on his eyes to do this faster.

"Uncle."

"Romonus, it is good you are here. We won't speak long since I have work to do, but I need you to know this. The Satans are just figure heads while the title of Lord Bael is the true ruler of Devils.

To do so, one requires Power of Destruction, strength, pride, and being able to gather the respect of the Devils. My sons could not do either one of the wastes. Now I am hearing that my first plan was to challenge Magdaran for the title.

What a joke."

Romonus squinted his eyes.

"You are wrong."

His Uncle dropped his paper before looking up with a displeased expression.

"What?"

"Uncle, with all due respect you are wrong. Neither one of your sons are waste, you just can't find it in your heart to find the worth in them. Mind my words, but you have failed as a Father to both your sons."

Romonus had never disrespected his Uncle, not once, but who was he to talk shit about his cousins. Azland Bael grit his teeth as he glared at Romonus.

"Who are you to talk to me that way? After all I have done for you this is how you repay me?"

The servant looked down as the pressure inside the room was starting to rise. Romonus walked forward and placed his hands on the desk. Kharn was already snarling and baring his teeth as he was itching for murder.

Romonus' Uncle Azland rose to his feet and glared at Romonus as this was the first time his nephew had ever spoken like this to him.

Romonus did not hold his words back.

"Uncle, if there is something I learned from being a Gremory is that family is everything. Magdaran is an experienced botanist who has revived extinct flowers and can progress the medical research of the Underworld.

Sairaorg despite being born with low Demonic Power is rising through the ranks from what I hear and is gathering a powerful peerage. How can you not see value in your sons?"

Azland barely held back his anger.

"You Bael wannabe, you should just go back to your failed C-

"Mind your tongue."

Azland grit his teeth when behind Romonus his Father Demaenetus spoke. As a Devil Demaenetus was far from a loving man, but even he could see the value in Romonus. After all he had gone through to pull him over to their side his son was about to ruin it.

"Father, but-"

With a hand, Demaenetus shut him up.

"My grandson is right. I just never said anything before, but you are a shame to House Bael. You have made no decisions on your own always running to the Ancestor. If he wanted to rule House Bael he would have done so since no one could stop him.

He passed the mantle down to his descendants while you ran to him for everything. Tell me Romonus, what would you do?"

"Grandfather, I would give more funding to Magdaran and bring Sairaorg back to House Bael from his exile. Both of them can bring pride and honor to the Clan, I also believe that Devils are far too lazy. They spend centuries at a time without improving a bit while I have shown that is the wrong path.

If I am to become Lord Bael, I will do what needs to be done to make Devils and House Bael prosper. There should be a more efficient way to get things done may I remind everyone we are a species with terrible birth rates?

Over 40 clans and their legions were wiped out and the other 32 are operating at less than half of their original numbers. Every devil that dies is a net loss that can't be replenished as easily."

Demaenetus hummed and thought about it.

"I see the value in this. Do what you will Romonus and you Azland. I choose wrong in appointing you the heir. You have done nothing since the start of your rule for the Clan always asking the Ancestor for everything. What did I ever see in you failure."

Azland mouth twitched as he wanted to speak, but nothing came out. Demaenetus placed a hand on Romonus' shoulder the one without Kharn though.

"You won't learn anything under him, I will teach you how I ruled House Bael during my time. Azland, I expect you to bring Sairaorg back by next week. That is an order."

Azland clenched his hands into fists, but he did not dare refuse his Father. His Father was a true warrior with more the blood of hundreds of thousands during his time in the Great War and Civil War."

"Yes, Father."

"Good. Romonus, come with me. We have much to talk about."

Romonus turned around and followed his grandfather out of his Uncle's office. The servant had long since left afraid to get caught up in the middle of a fight. Demaenetus turned to Romonus.

"I won't keep much of your time, but I meant every word. Azland was a terrible Lord Bael and I hope you won't go down the same path."

"I will not. I want to learn from you grandfather."

"And you shall. If I know it you shall know it. If you have the time put the guards through their steps. They have been getting lazy without a war to fight."

"Of course. I just wanted to ask about the engagement you all want. Who shall be picked?"

Demaenetus was having trouble finding a good match.

"That will take a while to find out because of your crazy high standards. However, they will work out in the long run. Even my daughter was not safe from your hands."

"She told you?"

Demaenetus sighed.

"Yes, just keep it to yourself a bit. Even for me, that is a hard pill to swallow."

Romonus chuckled.

"When can I meet my Great Grandparents then?"

Demaenetus sighed.

"Whenever you want. When they found out about you and Venelana they laughed their assess off. They think everyone should try incest."

"Like you Uncle? My grandmother is your niece after all."

Demaenetus chuckled.

"That she is. Good luck, I will try to find the best match for you."

Once his grandfather Demaenetus was gone, Romonus clenched his fist. He was itching to train and become stronger. From here, he was done playing quite. He would 'breakthrough' the Satan Rank in the months leading up to his 12th birthday.

He would undergo the Baptism, forge his equipment, and begin to explore the world. He had many people and treasures to find. He also had to train Itsuki and Akeno who were rapidly growing in power.

'Yes. I owe it to him and myself.'

He walked off to return to his room as his plans were set in stone. Once he underwent the Baptism, forged his gear, and mastery his new powers, he would move against the Vampires. Valerie Tempes must be at his side.

The Holy Grail was of the biggest importance to him for what she could give him.

(OK, we will have a time skip here. It's about time for one to not have too much filler.)
