The Heroine Saves the World

Chapter 24

The heroine saves the world

Episode 24

There were a total of three Awakening Schools in Korea.

They were Yongsan in Seoul, Yangjeong-dong in Busan, and Doryong-dong in Daejeon.

Typically, awakening occurs between the ages of puberty and 25.

However, in reality, there are very few cases of awakening after the age of 20, which means that most awakened people currently active in Korea are alumni of one of the three schools above.

Among them, Seoul Awakening School, located in Yongsan, has elementary school through high school all within one fence.

Students attending this school are largely divided into two cases.

The first was a case in which a majority of students tested positive on the arousal potential wave test, which all citizens must take when they turn five years old.

The second is a rare but occasionally occurring case, in which students who showed a negative reaction in the wavelength test but later woke up and transferred from another school.

The two siblings, Lee Yu-chan and Lee Yu-eul, naturally belonged to the first case.

The two vividly remembered the day on their fifth birthday when they held their mother and father’s hands tightly and went to the public health center to get tested for the possibility of awakening.

“My kids are going to be Awakeners! I’m so excited!”

“Honey, isn’t that a little dangerous?”

“No. You never know when a gate will open, so it’s safer to have the strength to protect yourself!”

“That’s true, but… … .”

And the second wave test, taken just before entering elementary school, produced more accurate results.

“The expected awakening level is A-class or higher? Am I deceiving you?”

“I really don’t have to worry about my kids’ future!”

“By any chance… … If I really awaken to an A-class, I could film commercials like other Hunters later on? Then it would help the family… … Ugh!”

“Wake up! Kids’ money is kids’ money! Don’t forget that!”

“Oh, I see. I was just saying that, haha.”

The twins ended up entering the Seoul Awakening School in Yongsan.

And then one day, when they were 12 years old and the letter ‘S’ appeared as the expected awakening level as they grew up, the twins’ world changed.

When I left home to go to school in the morning, there was a swarm of reporters in front of my house.

Yu-eul grabbed the hand of her younger brother Yu-chan, who was frozen in surprise, and ran back into the house.

It was only a matter of time before the news was filled with the faces of two children holding hands.

The twins soon received the attention and expectations of the entire nation.

It was the first time in history that an S-rank result was obtained in an expectation grade test that was relatively lower than the actual result.

The term ‘promising prospect’, which had not existed before, began to be used.

At first, the public’s favor was scary and embarrassing, but by the time I hit puberty, I was able to truly enjoy it.

Wherever they went, people recognized the twins and cheered them on.

“Can you sign this for me?”

“Yoochan, Yoo-eul is so cute!”

“This is the birthday present we prepared for you, please accept it!”

Everyone was eagerly waiting for those two to awaken to S-class powers.

He also had better physical abilities than any of the ‘promising’ students in the elementary and middle school divisions of the Awakening School.

So the twins dreamed every night of the day when they would finally awaken as S-class.

And then one summer day when they were 15, the twins’ world changed once again.

Squeak!

“Honey! That truck!”

“Kids! Protect the kids!”

Hanging upside down in the overturned car, crumpled beyond recognition, the twins reached for each other’s hands.

And I knew it instinctively.

The reason they are still breathing is because they woke up at the moment of the accident.

I lost consciousness after vomiting from the disgusting smell of leaking gasoline mixed with my parents’ blood.

A few days later, I woke up and was informed of my parents’ death.

That I awakened to C-class, not S-class.

It was the aftereffect of an unprepared forced awakening.

And after that, the world was no longer kind to twins.

“Hey, it’s Vicky, Class C.”

“Poohaha, look at that kid’s personality.”

“Did you see him whining in front of the cameras when he was discharged? I thought he was a kid.”

At first, there was sympathy for the two middle school students who lost their parents and bright future overnight, but that was short-lived.

After the accident, he didn’t smile as much as before and he was always sullen, so even people who pitied him turned their backs on him.

After that, when they joined the Justice Guild, which they had known for a long time, the twins, who were once considered promising prospects and loved by the entire nation, became the target of complete ridicule.

So in some ways, today’s events weren’t that special.

“Oh, get out of here! It’ll ruin the taste of the food. Should I share a meal with you?”

Kwak Ji-hyun, who had recently awakened to A-class and signed a contract with the Dongbaek Guild, shouted for everyone to hear.

“We were the ones sitting first. If you don’t like it, go somewhere else.”

Lee Yu-eul, who was enjoying the hamburger steak that was served as a meal, said with a sour expression.

However, Kwak Ji-hyun made the situation worse by kicking the chair next to Yu-eul.

Yuchan thought.

You’re deliberately picking a fight.

After awakening to Class A and becoming an official member of the Dongbaek Guild where she was receiving youth training, Gwak Ji-hyeon’s personality, which originally enjoyed bullying others, has become even stronger.

Yuchan held Yueul’s arm tightly with one hand and ate his meal silently.

I wasn’t stupid enough to get excited by a fight that was deliberately walked into.

“Yeah, okay. Don’t get excited, huh.”

Yu-eul muttered the same thing and picked up her spoon again.

But the plate to eat the food on disappeared.

Kkudangtang-!

Kwak Ji-hyun snatched Yu-eul’s plate and threw it.

But the destination is really bad.

Yu-eul instinctively avoided something flying at her by pulling her body away, and only got a little bit of food splashed on her gym clothes, but Yu-chan got hit with the plate right in the face.

And just as I was about to eat my soup, the corner of my plate hit my forehead, knocking my glasses off and rolling around on the cafeteria floor.

“Lee Yu-chan! Are you okay?”

Yu-eul looked at Yu-chan’s face in surprise.

“This fucking guy, he’s bleeding!”

Blood was flowing from where the corner of the plate had been torn.

It was a wound no bigger than a finger joint, but quite a bit of blood was already flowing out.

A mixture of curry, soup, and blood dripped down Yuchan’s long eyelashes as his glasses came off.

“Oh, no! Can’t you avoid that too, for fear that someone might say it’s not C-class?”

“This is hitting a person and then hitting them… … , and that’s just the tip of the iceberg!”

“It’s your little brother’s fault for being so incompetent. Why is it my fault? If you had avoided it, you wouldn’t have gotten hurt! Are you showing off that you didn’t receive any home education?”

“You, don’t cross the line.”

Lee Yu-eul gritted her teeth.

These were always the words that triggered the twins’ accidents.

Mom and Dad.

But it is also a button that is like a favorite song in a karaoke room for those who want to stimulate the two people, so it has been somewhat of a training session.

His clenched fists trembled.

I tried my best not to lose my senses.

Then, Jihyun Kwak looked around at the students gathered around her with a proud face and added a word.

“You guys are a bunch of broken pieces. The new healer girl who joined your guild this time is also broken, just like you guys… .”

puck!

Kwak Ji-hyun’s face turned to the side after being hit hard with a punch.

And as he sat down, the chair he was holding onto fell over with him, making a loud noise.

“You little punk, take that back.”

It wasn’t Lee Yu-eul who hit Kwak Ji-hyeon.

It was Lee Yu-chan.

His large, fierce eyes, seething with anger, looked down at the fallen Kwak Ji-hyun.

* * *

“Huh? So it wasn’t Yu-eul who hit his friend, it was Yu-chan?”

“Oh, that’s right. I don’t know why that quiet kid did that. It’s really giving me a headache.”

The twins’ homeroom teacher grumbled, but they couldn’t respond properly.

It’s a bit shocking.

I definitely thought that Lee Yu-eul would lose her temper and attack me.

But Lee Yu-chan is a bit timid.

“I heard that Yoochan suddenly attacked her. Of course, there was a bit of an argument before that and a physical fight.”

That’s strange. Isn’t Lee Yu-chan the type of person who would explode over a simple argument?

After entering the teachers’ office, Kang-han, who had been sitting quietly listening to the story like a good student, opened his mouth.

“Where are Yuchan and the other students now?”

Now that I think about it, that’s true.

In situations like this, don’t the two students who fought and their guardians usually meet face to face?

“The victimized student returned to the guild due to his injuries, and Yuchan is currently in the counseling room.”

Lee Yu-chan was the only one quarantined?

Is this correct?

My temper, which was dirtier than the reason, began to boil over.

“Isn’t that a strange thing to do?”

“How strange. The guardian who says such things is the one who speaks strangely. So are you saying that I treated Yuchan unfairly because of personal feelings?”

“If not, what? You said there was a physical fight first. Then, it’s unclear who started it, so why are you isolating only Yoochan?”

“No, ha… … .”

The homeroom teacher took off his glasses, rubbed his eyes, and spoke insincerely, with a look of extreme fatigue on his face.

“The other student is a member of the Dongbaek Guild.”

“But.”

“Don’t you understand? I belong to the Dongbaek Guild, one of the four major guilds. I’m an A-class buff guild.”

I understand, that’s good too.

So, the other child is a member of a powerful guild, and although he cannot actively heal like a healer, he is a buffer with the ability to increase the healing power or speed of the surrounding hunters.

“But what does that have to do with this situation? This was just two students fighting.”

“Guardian, this is the Awakening School. It’s different from a regular school. Well, it might sound harsh, but your guild affiliation and rank are the same as your grades.”

In short, the problem is that Lee Yu-chan, the underachiever who beat up a better student, is the problem.

It’s getting more and more frustrating.

At that moment, Kang Han intervened.

“For now, let’s move to the consultation room. I would like to check with Yuchan directly, so please guide me.”

“Oh, right, I told you not to ask. Oh, yes, I understand. Come this way.”

The counseling room was located one room away from the teachers’ office.

And when I saw Lee Yu-chan’s face sitting there alone, I was speechless.

“You, your face… … .”

There was a scab and bruise on the wound above his left eyebrow, and it seemed like he had bled quite a bit, as the blood on his white school uniform top had hardened and turned a dark red.

Besides, the clothes were still covered in curry and unknown side dishes.

You leave the kid in this condition, without even treating him, locked him in a room?

“Lee Yu-chan, turn your face this way.”

I walked over to him with brisk steps and started by lightly healing the wound on his forehead.

[ Na Yeo-ju : Stamina 90 → 75 ]

This is fucking efficiency!

He healed me by reducing my stamina by a whopping 15 points, but the yellow bruise that was barely disappearing remained.

If I were to drain more stamina, I could probably get rid of that too, but I felt like I needed to leave enough strength to do the long-distance thing.

“Are you okay?”

“……are you okay.”

But there is no strength in Lee Yu-chan’s voice as he answers like that.

“I’m sorry.”

“what.”

“We’re going to get cursed at again because of this. Not just me, but the Justice Guild as well.”

The moment I heard Lee Yu-chan’s gloomy words, something in my head snapped.

I straightened my body, which had been bent down to the eye level of Lee Yu-chan, who was sitting on the chair, and turned around to face the homeroom teacher and spoke.

“Please tell that student and the Dongbaek Guild Leader to come.”

“What, what did you say?”

The homeroom teacher asked back, as if he found it ridiculous.

“We are not the guild leader or vice-guild leader right now, but I am here anyway. So it is only right that the guild leader come as well.”

“Ah, no. The Dongbaek Guild Leader is such a busy person… … . How can you call him? Let’s end this on good terms.”

“I guess you’re saying that we should end it by saying that it was all Lee Yu-chan’s fault. But I don’t think that’s the right solution.”

My voice became lower and lower.

“Please call me, teacher. The Dongbaek Guild Leader and his counterpart, Kwak Jihyun, are the students, right? Please tell them to come right now.”

“So, there’s no way a famous hunter would come all the way here for something like this.”

“No, I will come.”

Yuminghwa was the type of person who would do anything to achieve a goal once he set his mind to it.

If you think about how Dongbaek was the most proactive among the four guilds that tried to recruit me, fame is coming.

Unconditionally.

“Please call me, homeroom teacher, because I’m coming.”

“… … Haa. Okay. I’ll call the Dongbaek Guild first, but don’t expect too much.”

The homeroom teacher took out her cell phone and pressed the button with an embarrassed look on her face as she made a call.

And exactly 30 minutes later.

“Hello. I’m sorry to have to meet you in this situation. I am the leader of the Dongbaek Guild, Hunter Yu Myeong-hwa.”

A famous painter wearing a slim-fitting suit that suited his tall stature entered the consulting room with a grin.
