The Greece Antagonist
Chapter 87: Rest assured, I will take care of your wife (4k)_2
"Get out of the way, scum!"
Along with the angry roar, a silver chain hammer covered in shattered flesh and bone flew out from one side of the woods, piercing directly through the chest of a giant.
At the same time, dozens of Amazon warriors, each over two meters tall with strong, slender limbs, burst out of the dense forest, hurling their spears and pinning several giants to the ground.
After disposing of this wave of attacking enemies, Penthesilea, who was in charge of leading the army, sternly warned,
"Take your people and leave! We cannot stay here for long!"
Atalanta was slightly taken aback upon hearing this.
She remembered this Amazon warrior as hot-tempered, her eyes sparkling with excitement at the mention of battle, once described as being most like Ares,
Why had she changed this time? Having just engaged the giants, she was already leading a retreat?
Sensing Atalanta's perplexed look, Penthesilea withdrew her chain hammer and explained in a deep voice,
"They're different this time, hard to kill. We've lost many sisters in previous encounters with these creatures because we didn't understand them. Hippolyta was worried you might also run into these changed beasts, so she sent me to help!"
As she spoke, the giants, nearly turned into porcupines by the spears, struggled to rise, their twitching muscles pushing the spears out of their bodies and healing their wounds at a visibly rapid rate.
Then, with a sinister smile, they picked up their weapons, uttering feverish praises and continuing to charge at these tiny humans before them.
"Immortality! Immortality!"
The gods' immortality?
Upon seeing this, Atalanta's eyelids twitched, and she quickly ordered her soldiers to hasten their retreat, while she stayed behind with Penthesilea to intercept.
And as they engaged, she realized that these giants were indeed, as Penthesilea had said, unusually tenacious in life, and their reflexes and speed were greatly improved from before.
Moreover, these were just ordinary giants; the elite among them, marked with crimson divine emblems, were even more troublesome.
Not only could they wield some of the Titan Gods' authorities, but the divine emblems on their bodies were as hard as armor, firmly protecting their bodies within the glowing patterns.
As more and more giants emerged from the crevices on both sides, Atalanta and Penthesilea, leading a team of Amazon warriors, found themselves barely able to hold off, facing several close calls.
Suddenly, several giants with elongated arms emerged from the ground, their glowing emblems flickering, divine power surging within them.
As they arched their bodies, crimson light-spears formed in their open hands and were hurled out with a roar.
Although Atalanta and Penthesilea reacted quickly, one running and shooting rapidly, the other whirling her chain hammer to block the giants' onslaught,
Facing the dense and swift crimson light-spears, Atalanta and Penthesilea combined could only block about half.
Boom, boom, boom, boom!
The remaining light-spears broke through the barrage of arrows and chain hammer's defense, continuously striking the already waning magic barrier, exploding in dazzling bursts of light.
For a moment, the earth shook and the mountains trembled, and the shields hastily supported by mages and priests completely shattered, causing them to spit blood from the backlash of magic power.
Subsequently, dozens of giants wielding heavy weapons broke out of the ranks and marched forward, slaughtering towards the now scattered formation of mortal troops.
"Oh Light God Apollo, God of the Hunt Artemis, pray here for the majesty of our gods—the petitioning Arrow Book for both great deities!"
Amidst rising dust, Atalanta furrowed her brows and shouted passionately, her body reclining as she held two arrows between her fingers, drawing them back with full force and shooting into the sky.
As the arrows reached their peak, a vast magic circle diagram formed, and from it, a dense rain of aqua-golden arrows poured down like a waterfall, striking the charging giants.
However, seeing those giants with divine emblems actively raising light barriers to help their peers withstand the barrage and keep advancing, Atalanta couldn't help but feel a sinking feeling in her heart.
God-like immortality, the Chief God's granted authority, and the tactical cooperation among different giants...
Only a few months apart, the once mindlessly charging Saggitas had undergone earth-shattering changes.
Now, they no longer seemed like a barbaric, scattered group, but more like an ancient civilization rising anew.
No wonder even the best fighting Amazon Tribe suffered under the hands of these monsters.
Without understanding the specific situation or thinking of targeted strategies, mortals leaving the protection of the city and engaging them in open battle would only lead to needless death.
Atalanta quickly assessed the situation, retreating while fighting alongside several Divine Blood Guards from Arcadia, cooperating with Penthesilea and her Amazon Warriors, to buy time for the mortal army's retreat.
But the dangers lurking in the dense forest were more numerous than they had anticipated.
Before they had even covered half their journey, groups of Magic Beasts and giant spirits continuously emerging from the fissures in the ground launched seven or eight attacks, causing incessant deaths and injuries among the already disadvantaged Arcadian and Amazon Alliance.
Worse still, due to the hindrance of the mortal troops, Atalanta and Penthesilea found out that they had been surrounded by endlessly emerging giant spirits and Magic Beasts without realizing it.
It's over!
Watching as the monsters surged like the tide, continuously dragging their straggling comrades out of formation and then cruelly devouring them, a sense of despair and fear permeated the hearts of the soldiers, causing their hands gripping their weapons to tremble slightly.
Just as the Alliance's barely holding defense line was about to collapse, a solemn and cool androgynous voice echoed through the high sky.
"Thou art Silver Rapid Fire!"
"Thou art Piercing Star of Gold!"
In an instant, the dim sky brightened, the wheels of the sun and moon breaking through the clouds, releasing thousands of beams of light.
"Boom boom boom boom!"
Arrows of Divine Power, following the sharp sound of breaking through the air, fell like dense artillery shells onto the stagnant battlefield, exploding the charging Magic Beasts and giants into pieces.
"Two kilometers due east, there you have reinforcement!"
In the sky, Artemis, arriving in time driving a chariot drawn by a golden-horned stag, shouted loudly, while twenty Battle Nymphs accompanying her descended with flapping wings, helping Atalanta and Penthesilea regroup.
Meanwhile, priests from Delphi began chanting Divine Words, opening a Magic Circle Diagram, summoning hundreds of griffins commanded by these Holy Beasts of the Light God Apollo to intercept the circling Magic Beasts in the air.
Seeing the originally crumbling situation stabilize, Atalanta breathed a sigh of relief as if relieved of a heavy burden.
Her mission in leading the team out of the city was to eradicate the overflowing herds of beasts in Thessaly and to meet up with the two Chief Gods, Artemis and Apollo.
Thus, the shot fired into the sky earlier was not only effective in killing the enemies but also served as a prayer with bows and a plea with arrows, seeking help from the nearby Chief Gods.
Fortunately, although delayed, the two Chief Gods arrived and successfully pulled this mortal alliance back from the brink of collapse.
And the reason for the delay...
Atalanta, relying on her excellent vision, faintly noticed a streak of golden-red blood on Chief God Artemis and narrowed her eyes.
Even a Chief God was wounded? The intensity of this war had escalated to levels beyond ordinary human intervention.
As Atalanta pondered, stars in the sky fell, and a red and black Aether Light Flow erupted from the northern horizon, spreading across the sky at a visible speed and swiftly devouring the light released by the sun and the moon.
As darkness fell, Atalanta and the others on the ground instantly felt waves of bone-chilling coldness, causing their hair to stand on end.
"Bang!"
At the same time, a flash of golden light fell from the sky, heavily crashing to the ground.
Everyone looked towards the sound and saw the disheveled Light God Apollo climbing out from the scorched crater, looking utterly disheveled.
In the dense darkness, a pair of figures in dark golden armor, their faces cold, walked side by side; the Divine Emblems emitting crimson colors above their heads became the only light in the firmament.
Recognizing the ancient Divine Emblem, Atalanta, who had studied the Titan language system comprehensively at the Academy of Athens, couldn't help but pupils shrink.
—Co** T**sorbit of the Heavens!
—Phoeb, Goddess of Light!
They were two of the Twelve Titans, and coincidentally, they were also the maternal grandparents of Apollo and Artemis, controlling the Authority that precisely restrained their grandchildren.
