Chapter 125 Lie Down, Start the Clock
Sea of Okeanos, Nameless Sea.
The sky was as dark as thick ink, with hundreds of intertwined air currents swirling water columns upward, mingling with each other like wild snakes darting across the water, forming perilous rift zones. Once caught in them, ships were immediately at risk of capsizing and disintegrating.
Whoosh!
Massive waves, hundreds of meters high, struck the Argo like heavy hammers, causing the glow of the defensive charms surrounding it to flicker briefly while the hull violently shook, emitting a grating, tooth-aching creak from the keel.
"All hands, be aware, numerous undercurrents and tornadoes ahead!"
Atalanta, in charge of scouting from the crow's nest, loudly warned as she watched the rolling dark clouds and turbulent waters, furrowing her brow deeply.
What was merely overcast weather had now escalated into a full tumult of sky and sea, suggesting this was likely no mere coincidence.
At this moment, Jason, who was steering, too, sensed an unusual aura amidst these changes. He immediately activated the amplification magic formula in the captain's room, gravely issuing orders to the Argo heroes:
"Everyone to your stations, prepare to break out of these waters!"
Upon hearing the command, the Argo heroes halted all superfluous activity and, according to their individual talents, rushed to their assigned positions.
As multiple magic circle diagrams activated throughout the ship and merged with the structure, Jason's heart slightly eased as he demonstrated his superb steering skills.
The holy ship, enveloped in light, tore through the undercurrent, skillfully navigating through the gaps in the whirlwinds like an agile whale.
"Good, just like that, steady!"
Under Jason's command and encouragement, the Argo continued its journey deeper, with the surrounding violent tornadoes and surging undercurrents becoming increasingly complex.
"Snap...snap..."
After an indeterminable time, crisp dripping sounds echoed in everyone's ears, as cold raindrops gradually splattered on the faces and skin of several crew members on the deck.
Looking up, the rolling dark clouds brewed a sinister crimson, with silver purple thunderbolts snaking through them, displaying a terrifying majesty.
"It's a thunderstorm! Be careful, everyone!"
Jason's urgent reminder made the hearts of the heroes aboard the Argo shiver as if facing a formidable enemy.
Could it be that His Majesty the King of Gods from Olympus was about to intervene?
However, seeing the stable deck beneath their feet and the quietly closed door of the cabin below, the heroes' tense nerves relaxed slightly.
It seemed not the worst that could happen, just do what needed to be done.
The Argo heroes regained their composure and threw themselves wholeheartedly into battling the extreme weather conditions.
But as the thunderstorm and gales arrived, disordered air currents caused the ship to sway violently amidst surging waves, and the Argo narrowly missed colliding with sweeping wind columns several times, with the sturdy wooden structure emitting unsettling creaking noises that kept everyone on edge.
"Boom!"
Thunder like a roaming dragon exploded in the clouds, suddenly illuminating the scene before Jason as bright as day.
In that instant of light, dozens of towering water columns, coming from all directions, outlined an imminent surround, threatening to crush.
Simultaneously, the raging sea wind whipped up towering waves, upon the red and black foam of which could faintly be seen the fragmented skeletons of Sea Beasts.
Jason's sense of crisis surged, his eyelids twitching as he called out in a trembling voice:
"Deck, lower the sails!"
"Hull, activate the defensive charms, at maximum intensity!"
"Engine room, prepare the magic propulsion technique, switch to manual oars if necessary!"
The heroes, upon hearing the command, ignored the shaking ship still tossed in the giant waves, either furling the sails or maintaining the magic formulas, their divine blood glowing fiercely on the dark sea surface.
Meanwhile, in the cabin below deck.
Luo En looked at the chessboard where the black "Priest" and "Chariot" had completed the encirclement, helplessly knocking over his hopeless "King," casting a resentful glance at a smiling Hecate across:
"Master, using such tricks to disturb my mind seems a bit like winning without honor, don't you think?"
"I am the Goddess of Conspiracy, when have you ever seen a goddess of conspiracy win squarely?"
Hecate answered boldly, unabashed about her confession of using sensitive topics to disrupt her opponent's thoughts.
Luo En's face darkened, left speechless.
Then, victorious, the goddess pointed to the window where thunderbolts flickered and inquired cheerily,
"The commotion seems to be getting louder, shouldn't we check it out?"
"The more it intensifies the more we need to keep our composure."
Luo En pinched a piece of pastry from the board and placed it in his mouth, his expression reflecting an undisturbed tranquility.
"If it were truly His Majesty the Divine King, he would have already turned the Argo into charred timber from the start, not letting those divine-blooded heroes cause such a stir till now."
Hecate smiled silently, withdrawing the speculative gleam from her eyes.
The reality was indeed so.
According to Zeus's character, once he discovered any element unfavorable to him on this ship, he would have directly eradicated it.
If his own disciple failed to see this and became flustered, making the wrong choices, it would draw the attention of Olympus and steer events in a direction unfavorable to War God Mountain.
This was the power of "Heaven's Mandate Protection" manifesting subtly.
At that moment, Hecate, observing the increasingly violently shaking cabin and the Argo heroes struggling amidst the thunderstorm, slightly furrowed her brow.
"It seems the 'Heavenly Destiny' gathered here is far lighter compared to that held by His Majesty the King of Gods."
So many divine-blood heroes assembled on one ship should have turned bad luck into good fortune, yet encountering such extreme weather just as they set sail was clearly the obstruction of "Heavenly Destiny" in action.
