Chapter 29: Rowena's exclusive weapon
After showing the one-handed sword, Lynn said to his mother, "Mom, I'm going to France with Professor Green in August. Is that okay? I'll get to meet Nicolas Flamel."
When Rowena first heard that Lynn was going to travel with Professor Green, she instinctively felt reluctant because she didn't know whether Lynn would be in danger again. After all, from the previous descriptions, the professor seemed to have many enemies.
But after learning that Lynn's purpose in traveling was to meet the great alchemist Nicolas Flamel, Rowena immediately accepted.
Nicolas Flamel! He was a famous and powerful figure! This was definitely a great opportunity for Lynn. As Lynn's mother, Rowena naturally hoped that her son would improve even further. Regarding the dangers of the trip, although Rowena was somewhat hesitant, she could only believe that Professor Green wouldn't put his students in harm's way again.
"You can go, but you must protect your own safety. Everything must come second to your own safety, understand? Promise me, Lynn!" Rowena said seriously, looking into Lynn's deep reddish eyes.
Lynn felt warmth in his heart and quickly reassured Rowena.
Then, Lynn said to Rowena, "Mom, in July, I plan to perfect a self-defense weapon for you. Is there any weapon you're good at?"
Rowena laughed softly and said, "Lynn, as wizards, we rely on wands to solve problems; we don't use melee weapons at all."
Lynn said seriously, "However, wizards are no different from Muggles once they lose their magical powers. I learned the method of refining the Anti-Magic Stone from my master, and I can even refine a weakened version of the Anti-Magic Wand. When magic is disabled, melee weapons are definitely a good method, and you should practice with them more often!"
After arriving in the outside world, Lynn became increasingly reluctant to let his mother stay in this small Rolle Manor for the entire year.
He hoped that his mother could step outside and see the changes in the world over the years, but he didn't want her to be in danger.
Seeing Lynn's serious attitude, Rowena had no choice but to nod her head and agree.
So, Lynn locked himself in the study again, carving alchemy circles day by day, refining a weapon that was exclusively for Rowena.
During this period, all of Lynn's meals were delivered to his room by the house-elf, Gale. Gale even tried to reduce the sound of air explosions when Apparating, so as not to disturb Lynn's alchemy work.
One week later, Lynn finally came out of the study.
He held a purple-black dagger in his hand. The dagger seemed delicate and small, with alchemy circles etched all over it.
"Mom, this dagger is the weapon I chose for you!" Lynn said with a smile as he handed the dagger to Rowena.
Compared to bladed weapons like one-handed swords, the biggest advantage of daggers is their surprise factor. After all, in battle, no one expects you to suddenly pull a dagger from your waist.
Moreover, due to physiological differences, women's muscle training is often slower than that of men. Therefore, a heavy two-handed sword or a quick one-handed sword would not be suitable for Rowena. The small, lightweight, and beautiful purple-black dagger with several alchemy spaces made it even deadlier.
"I've engraved six different alchemical sets on this dagger. In addition to the alchemical set with the 'strengthening' attribute, the attributes of the four connected sets are 'sharp,' 'penetrating,' 'poison nullification,' and 'concealment.' The alchemical circle with the 'poison nullification' attribute won't take effect temporarily because it hasn't absorbed any toxin, while the 'concealment' attribute makes the dagger harder to detect by the enemy, even in its path of attack."
"The two parallel alchemical formations have the attributes of 'strength' and 'dexterity,' just like my one-handed sword. You can choose one to use in battle. These two golden runes are a power source. When you place your hand on them, they will automatically absorb your magic power and won't be affected by the Anti-Magic Stone's effect!"
Lynn presented the purple-black dagger as though it were a treasure.
Rowena smiled as she listened, and her pride in Lynn was beyond words.
This was her son, a master of alchemy!
Rowena looked at Lynn lovingly and solemnly placed the dagger in her pocket. She patted Lynn on the head.
"You've been refining non-stop for a week. Please take a break," Rowena said.
Lynn shook his head. "Not yet, Mom, I'll also refine a weakened version of the Anti-Magic Scepter for you."
Lynn had no intention of resting. He immediately returned to his room to immerse himself in the intense and exciting alchemy session.
Three more days passed, and Lynn finally came out again.
The refinement of the Anti-Magic Scepter this time was much easier than the purple-black dagger because the Anti-Magic Scepter was mainly based on the Anti-Magic Stone, refined through legal alchemy, as its prototype. It was also engraved with the magic circle of alchemical formations.
Before the holidays, Professor Green had given Lynn a dozen Anti-Magic Stones as prototypes for the Anti-Magic Scepter, so Lynn didn't find it difficult to carve the magic circle.
However, due to differences in alchemy levels, Lynn's Anti-Magic Scepter was slightly weaker in power compared to the one refined by Professor Green, but it could still completely block the magical powers of a high-level Dark wizard like Casiraghi.
After handing the Anti-Magic Scepter to Rowena, Lynn finally relaxed.
Lynn was not someone who didn't know how to balance work and rest, but he had priorities and preferred to put his family's safety first.
As the time agreed upon with Professor Green drew nearer—just over two weeks away—Lynn naturally had to completely relax because he knew that the travel component of the trip was only a small part. When it came to meeting Nicolas Flamel… the alchemy knowledge he was about to receive at Flamel's residence would surely be enough for him to grow even more powerful!
So, for more than two weeks in late July, Lynn watched television with his mother, Rowena, watered the flowers, and helped care for the neglected garden of Rolle Manor with Gale, the house-elf.
However, since Lynn, as the castle's owner, did the same things as Gale, the elf became momentarily nervous, thinking he had done something wrong to anger Lynn.
