Chapter 126: Borgin and Burke's and the Stone
"Hey, aren't we going back?"
After walking a few steps, Irina realized that they were not heading back in the direction they had come from, so she asked, confused.
Lynn explained, "I plan to sell some alchemy items I used when I was practicing alchemy. Those piles of junk are taking up space in my bag, so why not replace them with gold galleons?"
Then, Lynn led Irina to a larger shop.
"Bojinbok Shop?" Irina read the sign on the door.
This shop seemed somewhat familiar to Irina. In the original story, Harry mispronounced the address when he took the Flu Network before classes began and ended up at the fireplace of this shop, Borgin and Burkes.
Lynn nodded slightly. He asked Irina to wait by the door and then entered the shop alone.
As Lynn stepped inside, he saw the hunched wizard behind the counter. This wizard was Mr. Borgin, the owner of Borgin and Burkes.
"Look at what you want, but don't touch," Mr. Borgin said, glancing at Lynn. When he realized Lynn was a young wizard with an unfamiliar face, he spoke calmly.
Lynn shook his head, walked up to the counter, and said, "I'm not here to buy, I'm here to sell."
"Oh?" Mr. Borgin looked at Lynn with interest. He didn't believe that this second or third-year wizard had anything of value. "This isn't a recycling bin. I don't collect everything."
At this, Lynn smirked and placed a semi-finished anti-magic stone on the counter.
Upon seeing the anti-magic stone, Mr. Borgin took a step back in shock, then grabbed a magnifying glass to inspect the semi-finished anti-magic stone on the counter.
"Is this... the Anti-Magic Stone? But isn't this something only the high-level alchemist, Wallison Green, can craft?"
Mr. Borgin asked, somewhat incredulous.
He then tentatively asked, "How many of these do you have?"
Lynn placed a bag on the counter. Mr. Borgin opened it and was horrified to find more than thirty semi-finished anti-magic stones inside. This surprised him greatly.
You see, in his opinion, only Wallison Green could refine the Anti-Magic Stone, and the terrifying power of the Anti-Magic Stone made it so that all of them on the market were banned by the Ministry of Magic.
Not to mention the British magical world—even in France, where Wallison Green was from—a single Anti-Magic Stone could fetch dozens of galleons.
But for Lynn, these were just byproducts used in his practice when learning material magic.
After all, the semi-finished anti-magic stone doesn't need to be inscribed with an alchemical matrix. It is simply refined through material magic, not the combination of material magic and matrix-based alchemy, which allows Lynn to continuously produce semi-finished anti-magic stones.
"May I ask your name? Also, what is your relation to Mr. Green?" Mr. Borgin asked cautiously.
If Lynn, who was able to produce more than thirty anti-magic stones at once, didn't have any connection to Wallison Green, Mr. Borgin would never believe it.
Lynn replied calmly, "Lynn Rohr, and I am an apprentice of Master Green."
Upon hearing this, Mr. Borgin suddenly realized that Lynn was a disciple of Wallison Green. No wonder he could produce so many anti-magic stones. It seemed that Lynn had already learned how to refine the Anti-Magic Stones.
After hearing Lynn's last name, Mr. Borgin's attitude became much more respectful.
After all, the Rohr family and the Borgin family are both pure-blood families of the Sacred Twenty-Eight, and the Rohr family is stronger than the Borgin family. Otherwise, Mr. Borgin wouldn't have been so servile when dealing with Lucius Malfoy in Knockturn Alley.
"Ah, Mr. Rohr, it's an honor to meet you... Mr. Rohr, how do you plan to sell these anti-magic stones?"
Mr. Borgin seemed to bow a little more and spoke flatteringly.
Lynn replied calmly, "Each Anti-Magic Stone costs fifty galleons. If you want all of these, I'll call it two thousand galleons."
Upon hearing this, Mr. Borgin seemed a bit embarrassed and said, "This... this isn't quite right, Mr. Rohr. According to your price, one Anti-Magic Stone is worth fifty galleons. The total for these in this bag is one thousand six hundred fifty galleons! Why two thousand galleons?"
Lynn smirked and said, "Right now, the demand for anti-magic stones exceeds the supply in the market. The more you buy, the more you'll profit when you resell them later. If it weren't troublesome for me, I'd just take them to the auction house."
Mr. Borgin hesitated.
As Lynn said, by reselling these anti-magic stones, he would make a bigger profit, especially at the auction house where the value of each could double.
However, Mr. Borgin wanted to use these anti-magic stones to strengthen the alchemical circle in his shop. With the power of these forbidden magical items, his shop, Borgin and Burkes, could become the safest shop in all of Knockturn Alley—and even in Diagon Alley.
Therefore, Mr. Borgin had to buy these anti-magic stones with his own money rather than profiting from them.
Two thousand galleons wasn't a small sum for Mr. Borgin today. After all, he had only bought a large batch of dark magic products from Malfoy six months ago.
If Lynn took all the anti-magic stones, it was possible that his shop wouldn't make it until the end of the year.
"Fine, I'll take them!"
In the end, Mr. Borgin gritted his teeth and agreed.
You can make gold galleons at any time, but the opportunity to buy so many anti-magic stones at once might only come once.
So, Mr. Borgin handed over two thousand galleons to Lynn and took the anti-magic stones from the counter.
Having earned a large sum, Lynn left the shop content and grabbed Irina's hand, who was waiting at the door.
"Let's go, I'll take you to Diagon Alley for a great meal today!"
Lynn said happily. Even without his family's money, these gold galleons alone would be enough to last for the whole school year.
He could even start some alchemy experiments that he had been reluctant to attempt due to the high cost of materials!
After returning to Diagon Alley, Lynn bought Irina a box of strawberry-flavored ice cream from Florin's Cold Drinks Shop, and then the two headed toward the restaurant to eat.
