The Goblin Who Devoured Fate

Chapter 22: Chapter 22: No Mercy

The cultist who stayed behind clenched his fists, his mana flaring around him in a violent blaze. His body trembled—not with fear, but with rage.

"You filth… You dare kill a servant of the Great One?" His voice was laced with venom, his crimson hood barely concealing the hatred in his eyes.

I could hear the sound of the other cultist's retreating footsteps.

I had two choices:

Chase after the runner. He could report back to the cult, but splitting up was risky.Kill the one in front of us. He was dangerous, but if we didn't finish this quickly, more would come.

I gritted my teeth and made my decision.

No mercy.

The Last Cultist

I tightened my grip on my dagger. "Rhia, we finish him."

She nodded, her silver hair shifting as she took a step forward. "Let's end this."

The cultist snarled.

"Then burn!"

With a snap of his fingers, flames erupted around him, twisting into a whip of fire.

[System Notification!]

[Cultist Pyromancer – Level 8][HP: 180/300][Abilities: Flame Whip, Ember Veil, Ignite]

He swung the whip with terrifying speed. The heat alone was enough to scorch the stone walls, sending sparks flying.

I barely dodged in time as it cracked against the ground where I stood.

Too close.

Rhia dashed in from the side, moving fast. Too fast for him to track. She was using her ability—[Phantom Step].

The cultist growled, swinging wildly.

But he couldn't hit what he couldn't see.

I saw the opening.

Now!

I lunged forward, dagger flashing—

"GRAH!"

My blade sank into his throat.

His eyes widened. He tried to speak, but only a gurgling noise came out as blood poured down his robe.

I yanked the dagger free, and he collapsed.

The fire died instantly.

It was over.

No Turning Back

I stood over the corpse, panting. My hands were covered in warm blood.

Rhia wiped her blade on her sleeve, looking at me. "You alright?"

I exhaled, trying to calm my racing heart. "Yeah… but we need to move."

The other cultist had escaped.

And that meant—more would come.

I clutched the egg tighter.

We weren't safe. Not yet.

"Let's go."

Without another word, we disappeared into the tunnels.
