Chapter 48
"Grandma Xu, Yue, I'm going out for a while. Don't wait for me for dinner." Lan Ji had to go to the Fighting Wolves Group today to trade with the group leader, Qin Lie. He didn't know when he would return. He and Qin Lie had known each other for nearly five years, and they were good friends, so whenever he had time, he would go to the Fighting Wolves Group in person.
This time, he originally didn't have time to come, but since he had to treat Yue's injury, he took on this task as well.
Driving to the Fighting Wolves Group's base, Lan Ji presented his ID to the guard at the gate for inspection. After confirming his identity, he drove his car into the Fighting Wolves Group.
Before getting out of the car, Lan Ji put on a black mask over his face. Every time he came to the Fighting Wolves Group, he wore this disguise. Except for Qin Lie, who had seen his true appearance, no one else in the Fighting Wolves Group had seen his face. This was also the reason why Zhou Mucheng didn't recognize him.
Coming to Qin Lie's office, Lan Ji knocked on the door.
Qin Lie's clear and magnetic voice came from inside, "Come in!"
Lan Ji pushed open the door and walked over to the chair opposite Qin Lie, sitting down casually. "Qin Lie, long time no see. What have you been busy with lately?"
Qin Lie put down his pen and looked up at Lan Ji. "Didn't you say you didn't have time to come?"
"My cousin was injured, so I came to treat her. She's the former fiancée of your subordinate, Zhou Mucheng. By the way, where is that bastard Zhou Mucheng?" Mentioning Zhou Mucheng made Lan Ji's hands itch. He had gone easy on him yesterday, and he wanted to throw a few more punches at him, hopefully disfiguring Zhou Mucheng's face so he couldn't seduce young girls anymore.
"Were the injuries on his face caused by you?" Qin Lie stood up and went to make tea for Lan Ji.
"He bullied my cousin, so I hit him, but I went easy on him. If I see him again, I'll hit him some more." Lan Ji's gaze fell on the painting on the desk. "Still haven't found her?"He knew that Qin Lie had been looking for a woman all these years, but hadn't found her yet.
Qin Lie handed the brewed tea to Lan Ji. "When are you going back?" He didn't want to talk much about Yue.
"Once my cousin's injuries heal, I'll go back." Lan Ji took the tea and put it aside, removing the mask from his face. With his relationship with Qin Lie, he didn't need to disguise himself.
Qin Lie extended his hand, and Lan Ji handed him a slip of paper.
Qin Lie glanced at the paper and nodded slightly, taking a check out of the drawer and handing it to Lan Ji. "Next time, I'll need twice as many medicines."
Lan Ji raised his eyebrows. "Okay." He didn't ask further questions. If Qin Lie could tell him, he would.
After chatting for a while, Lan Ji got up to leave.
"Let's have a meal together," Qin Lie said, inviting him to stay.
Lan Ji thought about it. "Alright, since we're brothers."
Putting their masks back on, the two went to the cafeteria. It was lunchtime, and the squad members were eating in the cafeteria. Seeing Qin Lie and Lan Ji enter, everyone unconsciously straightened their backs. They revered the team leader and admired him. His battle record made them feel unattainable, and he existed in their hearts like a god.
Qin Lie led Lan Ji to the food counter. "Get whatever you want."
Lan Ji didn't stand on ceremony, picking up a tray and starting to serve himself. This wasn't his first time eating here, so he was familiar with the place.
After getting their food, the two sat down at an empty spot.
Zhou Mucheng walked into the cafeteria at this time. He hadn't slept all night after finally completing his mission successfully.
His gaze fell on the two men eating by the window, and Lan Ji's figure seemed familiar. He frowned, trying to remember, and headed towards the food counter. He was exhausted and hungry, only wanting to eat and then rest.
"It's that bastard." Seeing Zhou Mucheng made Lan Ji feel annoyed, and his fists clenched.
"Wait until after eating to fight," Qin Lie calmly glanced at Zhou Mucheng. He knew that Zhou Mucheng's former fiancée was Ling Yue, whose name and appearance were almost identical to Yue. At first, he thought she was his Yue, but after meeting her a few times, he had given up hope. Yue was born a ruler, and she would never be as timid and cowardly as Ling Yue.
