Chapter 19: Chapter 19: The Trail of Money
"Dinglingling~ Dinglingling~"
Inside the shabby van, Mark Carter and Neil Baker were chatting idly out of boredom. Suddenly, the car phone rang piercingly. Mark reached out to answer the call.
"Where is Margaret now?"
As soon as the call connected, the anxious voice of Thomas Wilson came through.
This puzzled Mark and Neil a bit, but they still answered truthfully, "At home. We just followed her back to the villa."
"Good. Keep a close eye on her. If you lose track of her, I won't let you two off."
After saying that, the call was hung up.
Receiving a scolding out of the blue, the two men looked at each other. After a while, Mark suddenly seemed to think of something and his eyes lit up. "Could it be... that they've found something?"
Neil also reacted. "Could there be something wrong with that batch of express deliveries?"
The two men looked at each other and immediately perked up.
Sure enough, in less than ten minutes, a black sedan came speeding over. Before the car had even come to a full stop, Thomas jumped out and quickly walked up to the van.
After getting in the van, before the two men could ask any questions, Thomas directly gave the order, "From now on, we'll keep watch together. You two are in charge of the front, and I'll be in charge of the side. Remember, if you notice anything unusual, you must report it to me immediately."
After saying that, he was about to get out of the car and leave, but Mark stopped him.
"Boss, is there really something wrong with that batch of express deliveries?"
Thomas nodded impatiently. "Yeah, the 'Ghost' has shown up. You should know how serious the situation is, right? Stay on full alert."
"Got it! Got it!"
Mark and Neil immediately became as excited as if they had been injected with adrenaline. This was a huge piece of good news! If they managed to catch the "Ghost" because of their effective surveillance, they would no longer have to endure the hardships of living rough and having to sleep in the car. How could they not go all out?
After Thomas left, he went around to the side of the villa to continue the surveillance, while Mark and Neil stayed on the front side.
Time passed by minute by minute, and soon it was the next morning.
Finally, Margaret appeared. Not only did she go out, but she was also carrying a heavy large bag in her hand.
Mark and Neil didn't dare to alert the enemy. They stared intently at Margaret, and even their breathing became cautious.
Soon, Margaret got into the car and drove towards the center of London.
As soon as she left, Mark and Neil behind her, as well as Thomas on the side, immediately followed, keeping their eyes firmly fixed on her car.
After a while, they saw Margaret enter a bank.
About an hour later, Margaret came out carrying that large bag. From the way she walked, it could be seen that the things in the bag were very heavy – most likely money.
Seeing this scene, Thomas was extremely excited. Even a rough person like him could guess that this money was prepared for the "Ghost".
After getting in the car, Margaret didn't go anywhere else but drove straight home.
Upon learning this news, James Morrison and Sebastian Gray decided to hold their positions and observe the situation first to avoid alerting the enemy.
They waited for another half a day, until evening.
After night fell, Margaret appeared again. She was carrying that heavy large bag, looking around furtively, got into the car, and then drove towards the outskirts of the city.
Seeing this, Mark and Neil were overjoyed.
"Follow her, be careful not to be discovered. We're going to make it big this time!" Neil excitedly urged Mark to start the car.
Mark was equally excited. He swallowed hard and said nervously, "Do you think, if we manage to catch the 'Ghost' smoothly this time, what kind of reward will we brothers get?"
"At least we won't have to go on field missions anymore."
"God bless, and may everything go smoothly. I'm really sick and tired of sleeping in the car."
They followed all the way, taking many twists and turns. The car drove out of the urban area and into the suburbs, and finally stopped beside a graveyard.
Then, they saw Margaret get out of the car carrying the large bag and walk step by step towards the depths of the graveyard.
Mark and Neil also quietly got out of the car and followed.
A few minutes later, the two men hid in the shadows and saw Margaret furtively throw the large bag into the ditch by the roadside, and then quickly ran out.
Seeing this, Neil immediately turned on the walkie-talkie. "Boss, Margaret has thrown the money into the ditch and she's running out. What should we do?"
"You two keep following Margaret. Leave the rest to us."
"Copy that."
After turning off the walkie-talkie, the two men looked at each other. Without saying much, they followed Margaret back to the roadside. After she had walked far away, they immediately got in the car and followed.
On Thomas Wilson's side, James Morrison's voice was coming through the phone.
"Margaret is probably delivering money to the 'Ghost'. So, as long as we keep watch over that money, we can wait for the 'Ghost' to show up. Be careful and don't expose yourselves. Also, have the nearby reinforcements arrived?"
"James, don't worry. If the 'Ghost' dares to come, he won't be able to escape even with wings!" Thomas replied through gritted teeth.
"Good. Report the situation at any time."
After hanging up the phone, Thomas quickly hid in the bushes by the roadside, holding his breath and waiting quietly.
