The Genius Physician Princess

Chapter 14

“Kite, you’re really good at getting returns on your investments. Later, make sure to ask for a lot of allowance from the dragon, okay?”
Kite said this and then subtly asked Lantus in a more serious tone.
“Brother, honestly, aren’t you curious about something?”
“About what?”
“Who has more money between you and Romanov of Fátima?”
“Romanov of Fátima? Are you talking about the emperor of the Fátima Empire?”
“Yes, the richest country on the continent.”
Lantus looked at Kite in disbelief.
“Fátima is filled with precious metal mines. How could I win with just a few gem stores? And you, do you really think it’s okay to talk about the emperor of the country you were born in as if he’s a neighbor?”
“Who cares? I left my family a long time ago. It doesn’t matter if I was born in Fátima or not.”
Kite scoffed, and Lantus gently tried to reason with him.
“You know, if you ever want to claim inheritance rights, you should stay on good terms with the Fátima royal family. Not that your father would let that happen.”
“Hah… You’re right. My head hurts just thinking about it.”
“We should have brought that Michael guy.”
Yeo-ul finally lost all desire to stop this crazy money-spending spree.
What use is it to tell someone who gets pocket money from a dragon that they’re spending too much?
‘Don’t be weak, get it together, Song Yeo-ul!’
Yeo-ul tried to gather her thoughts.
Okay, let’s say it’s worth experiencing winning a lottery once.
But even so, Yeo-ul had already won a first-place lottery and was holding this round’s winning ticket.
Which means all those lottery tickets piled up like a mountain are just going to be waste paper.
She desperately racked her brain, trying to think of a way to stop this madness.
‘Refund, I need to get a refund.’
But no matter how she thought about it, she couldn’t find a way to stop this insanity… until it hit her!
“Actually, I already know the winning number for this round! You don’t need to overdo it!”
Why hadn’t she thought of this before?
It was partly because of Lantus’s crazy drive to buy up all the nearby lottery tickets as soon as he found out she was a wanderer, but now wasn’t the time to dwell on that.
“I think I had a prophetic dream. I saw the winning numbers in a dream. That’s why I wanted to try the lottery yesterday.”
She couldn’t exactly say they were the protagonists of a novel she wrote, so she made up the excuse of having a prophetic dream. She planned to use this excuse whenever she had to reveal future events.
“A prophetic dream?”
Lantus, who was initially surprised, quickly nodded in understanding.
“A prophetic dream. Wanderers have special abilities, so it’s possible.”
“Oh, so the number you wrote down yesterday, 0X1023, was the one you saw in your dream?”
“Yes, yes, that’s right.”
Yeo-ul nodded eagerly. Finally, she was getting through to them.
But just as she was starting to feel relieved,
“Hmm. But it’s not certain, is it? It could be a prophetic dream, or it could just be a regular dream.”
Kite suddenly threw a wrench into the works.
“Until we know for sure, wouldn’t it be better to see this through since we’ve already started?”
Yeo-ul gulped in panic.
She looked desperately at Lantus, but…
Unfortunately, he seemed to agree with Kite.
“He’s right. In situations like this, it’s best to consider both possibilities and use a two-track strategy.”
“No! It’s definitely a prophetic dream, because!”
In her desperation, Yeo-ul had no choice but to shout.
“Because I’ve already won once!”
Everyone’s eyes turned to Yeo-ul.
“What? You did?”
“Miss Yeo-ul?”
“When?”
Yeo-ul buried her face in her hands, wishing she could disappear into a hole.
She had never imagined she would have to reveal this in such a way.
“The 320 billion won winner. That’s me.”
“…”
“…”
“…”
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you earlier…”
* * *

Lantus compared the lottery ticket Yeo-ul handed him with the winning numbers in the newspaper and let out a low exclamation.
“It really is the winning ticket.”
“No way…”
Kite covered his mouth in shock.
He looked between the extremely nervous Yeo-ul and Lantus in disbelief, and then spoke in a trembling voice.
“A golden spoon guide and a golden spoon wanderer…”
He then began to clap enthusiastically.
“This is perfect. There’s no better ending than this.”
“Congratulations on becoming rich, Miss Yeo-ul!”
Even Liriana, who rarely smiled, joined in, clapping and smiling broadly.
“Thank you, both of you.”
Yeo-ul quickly thanked them but then looked at Lantus with desperate eyes.
There was something much more important to her right now than receiving congratulations.
“Can we get a refund, Lantus?”
“A refund?”
“Those lottery tickets over there. It would be such a waste to just throw them away.”
“Ah, that was your concern.”
Lantus nodded while putting the lottery ticket into an envelope.
“Don’t worry. I’ll find a way to return the tickets to their original stores.”
If the stores refused, he could always offer them extra money.
Not realizing that she was suggesting a ridiculous idea, Yeo-ul felt a wave of relief and leaned her head against the bed’s headboard.
“Phew, thank goodness. I’m really relieved.”
She almost had nightmares of swimming in a sea of wasted lottery tickets.
Understanding what was likely going through her mind, Lantus chuckled softly.
“If you always feel this burdened, it will be difficult.”
Anyway, he and Wizardian were going to do more than enough for her in the future. He didn’t want to see her struggling under the weight of guilt every time.
In situations like this, there were two ways to help someone adapt: gradually increasing the pace so they could get used to it or overwhelming them so completely that they reached a state of enlightenment.
‘The latter seems more appealing right now.’
He could decide on that later.
For now, there was something more important to discuss.
“A prophetic dream, huh.”
Lost in thought, Lantus tapped his fingers on the table and then spoke to Yeo-ul.
“Yeo-ul. Let’s have a talk.”
Kite, sensing the seriousness, took Liriana and left the room.
Once it was just the two of them, Lantus pulled a chair to sit across from Yeo-ul.
Yeo-ul, who had been leaning against the headboard, straightened up a bit, feeling nervous.
“You said there’s another lottery win coming up, right?”
“Yes, the one sold in the Fátima Empire.”
“A lottery from Fátima is worth much more than the one here. I’m honored to meet a rich wanderer.”
Yeo-ul giggled at his playful remark, and a gentle smile appeared on Lantus’s face.
“Good. That amount of money should be sufficient. Material needs can mostly be taken care of with that money. But there’s one more thing we need to decide.”
“What’s that?”
“What do you want to bring over from your world?”
Yeo-ul’s eyes widened.
“From my original world?”
“Yes.”
Lantus nodded.
“I told you before that if you decided to stay here, you could bring one thing from your world. I can act as a conduit to make that possible.”
Yeo-ul gasped.
There was only one thing she wanted to see again from her original world.
“Can it be a person…?”
“People are not allowed. Nor are souls.”
“Ah.”
Yeo-ul’s shoulders slumped in disappointment.
Seeing this, Lantus felt he understood a bit more about the tears he saw yesterday.
“Is there nothing else besides a person?”
Yeo-ul shook her head dejectedly.
“I’m not sure yet.”
“Take your time to think about it. There’s no rush. As you adjust here, you might find something you need.”
“Okay, I will.”
Suddenly, something came to her mind.
It was an idea she had after Kite explained about the successors during their outing.
“Can knowledge be brought over?”
“Knowledge?”
“Kite told me about the library. He said the knowledge of the predecessors can be stored there. Can I bring over knowledge from my world?”
Lantus, observing her carefully, asked,
“Are you talking about medical knowledge?”
Yeo-ul nodded slightly.
Frowning in thought, Lantus slowly shook his head.
“I’m not sure. It’s never been done before, but it’s probably not possible. The knowledge you’re talking about is an extensive academic field built by many people. For it to be possible to materialize knowledge, there has to be one person who dominates that knowledge, like with inherited magic.”
Despite Lantus’s skepticism, Yeo-ul’s heart started to race.
One person who dominates the knowledge.
She knew exactly the person who fit that description.
Yeo-ul’s voice trembled slightly.
“My brother was a doctor. Would it be possible to bring his knowledge?”
“Your brother was a doctor?”
“Yes. The doctors there are very different from the ones here. They can cure diseases much better, like the priests here.”
Lantus’s eyes deepened as he recalled the moment a few days ago when Yeo-ul said she wanted to become a doctor.
‘The emotions she showed then… were longing.’
Even now, just talking briefly about her brother, her eyes were already starting to well up.
