Chapter 33: The Day That Followed
As Zeke finally woke up, it is already morning. His whole body felt lighter but also, he felt heavy from the burden of having to watch everything that happened. Through the [Video Log] he was able to see what Allesiah saw and, just like her, he hated his own helplessness in the situation.
As he did, two notifications came, adding to his [Sub Quest] list.
[Sub Quest: Reveal Glade's true identity]
[Reward: Ruined City memory Piece]
[Sub Quest: Assist Allesiah]
[Reward: 3 Skill Points]
With Zeke waking up, various other missions have also been accomplished. The basics that happen every day. At this, he bought another spell that he used at [Trial Island] which is [Detonate]. Also, he invested 4 points into [Poison Cloud] raising its rank up to [E->.
He already has things figured out but, before he could place his whole plan into motion, he needed to find Allesiah. So, he got up; knowing where he'd find her. And true enough, she's in the middle of the manor, sitting on one of the branches of the tree which resides there. Allesiah stared blankly into the ceiling of the house, a look that Zeke knew resulted from his poor choices.
However, his long sleep is not without any merit. In fact, he was able to gather a lot of useful information as he watched the memory piece that came as his reward.
What he saw was a scene that unfolded 1,000 years ago. An event referred to a s the calamity war of Mythos. This came at the peak of evolution for all the races. Each continent wanted to dominate and come out on top. Hence, these four continents went to an all-out war. But this is not the focus of the memory piece.
Its focus is the war as seen through the eyes of the First King. Gallio Leonis. He is an elf whose armors is crimson red. His sword is an obsidian black which did not permit any other color to stain it. All over the battlefield, he would march on, dominating his foes and leaving virtually none alive.
His allies admired him and looked up to him, while all his enemies feared him for his brute and unrelenting strength. Even the dragons of old were no match for his might and, soon after, when the war finally ended, Gallio became the first King of Elysium. He gathered up all the people and created a balanced system which benefitted both humans and elves who lived within the continent.
Things went well for a while and, the proud lion of the battlefield has finally slumbered inside his cave. However, other predators were waiting for this to happen and plotted his demise. Everything else that followed is as Glade has told him. However, there is one crucial thing that he didn't' say…the first King was able to evolve into a Blood Elf.
A blood elf is someone who can pass on his life by making another person drink his blood. Though this, the body would die but the person could still live on. The first king watched everything unfold with his own eyes as he is chained down like a dog.
How his wife and daughters have been ravaged by vile pig like elves. How his loyal and trusted men are forced to do the same. He watched as various tortures have bene done to the member of his household. All while the enemies laughed at his misery.
The king cursed that he'd return one day. A promise that everybody thought to be futile as they sliced off his head, kicking the decapitated head all around before finally destroying the equality and stability that the first king created. The elves soon rose on top yet, nobody was aware that one person kept the blood of the king, running away with it, together with the surviving members of the Leonis household.
"Allesiah, stop sulking already." Zeke said, making the sorceress look at him with eyes that are about to break into tears.
"Oh god, please don't make her cry." Zeke said, not wanting to take care of a crying woman.
"Master. T-they took my sisters. I wasn't able to do anything for them." She said.
"I know. We both were." Zeke said, sitting next to Allesiah and patting her head.
"Don't hug me." He said, making her just cry on his arm, wetting it with her tears.
"We're a bit short on time so I'll explain the rescue plan while you do that okay?" At this, Allesiah's crying suddenly halted and she looked at her master with unbelieving eyes.
"Rescue plan?"
"Yup. We're going to charge into the city and save your sisters." He said.
"EHHHH!"
Zeke made Allesiah calm down before he continued further. As this happened, the communication device installed within the house began glowing. This is a device implanted into all the buildings within Elysium that is used for a continent-wide broadcast. The next thing that followed is the Elf King's voice.
"My fellow elves! Today is a great day of rejoicing. For two things have gone in our favor!" The voice sounded joyful and upbeat.
"It's finally starting huh." Zeke thought to himself, wishing that his suspicion won't come true. His hunch is that, the King would not waste a single second to advance with his plans, especially with someone like Hark.
"One is the return of my bride and the other is the capture of the man who murdered my father!" King Aeolus continued.
Zeke and Allesiah listened to the King speak. It may be painful to hear his words but, this is also the source of information which Zeke and Allesiah will use. Hence, they listened closely to the hour-long speech of the king which gave out two valuable pieces of information.
One is that Hark will be executed on the night of the full moon. This will happen in the middle of the capital, with all the nobles and all the commoners coming to watch. This is because, Hark has also defeated the previous King on the same night. Thus, King Aeolus thought that it would only be fitting for him to end this murder's life on the same type of night.
The full moon lasts for two days and, the execution will happen on the last day of the full moon.
The second news is, right after this is done with, Sylvia Windsprite will marry Aeolus Leavely. This is in order for no objections to be made. But this isn't going to end into anything good. A lot of people still want Sylvia dead and, if she is going to be locked up inside the castle walls, the execution will be easier to perform.
"Mum? Dad?" Zeke heard the voice of Keith who probably also listened to the communication channel as it played.
"Come down when you are prepared to talk." Zeke said, jumping down from the branch and going to where Keith is.
Allesiah thought of everything that happened thus far. She also thought of the possibility that Zeke may be a secret spy from the capital but, she quickly dismissed the idea – remembering the warmness of this person to her.
"But why would he risk his life for the sake of total strangers?" Allesiah asked herself.
She may think that Zeke is some kind of saint but, the truth is, the primary reason for all actions performed by Zeke is for the sake of his quests. Emotions do not play a large part in things that he does. Although they do influence him at times. This includes that moment when he decided to reunite the siblings even if the mission has not popped up yet.
At this, Allesiah wiped away her tears and steeled herself. 'This isn't the proper time to be sulking.' Were the words that played through her head as she went and followed the direction where Zeke went. There she saw her master sitting down and reaching on to the top of Keith's head, patting it as the child hugged him close.
"Hey, stop crying, I promise to get your parents back." Zeke said to the child, smiling as he brushed Keith's hair.
"But the man who spoke. Those are mum and dad right?" Keith said, staring at Zeke as if to see if the man would lie to him.
"No. Of course not. That was just a joke your parents made. I promise they'd return by tomorrow." Zeke said, giving the child a reassuring smile.
"Okay…I believe you." At this a maid came running towards them. She is probably the caretaker assigned for Keith as she carried the child away.
Zeke waved his hand and smiled as the child went. Allesiah came forward, standing next to Zeke – waiting for his orders.
"What will we do now?" Allesiah asked, thinking how impossible it would be to storm the castle with just the two of them.
"The execution will happen tomorrow night. Before that, we have a whole day to make our move." The words itself did not comfort Allesiah, in fact, it worried her all the more, knowing that her master is probably planning something dangerous again.
"And what is that move exactly." At this, Allesiah's suspicion came true as Zeke looked at her with an excited smile on his face.
"That's easy..."
"...we'll infiltrate the city."
