The Gamer who traveled to Honkai: Star Rail

Chapter 417: Chapter 416: A Thief? In This Economy?!

In front of the Belobog History and Culture Museum, Pela stood in a daze, staring at the fountain. In truth, even before Pei Guang and his group arrived, the museum had already been undergoing renovations.

Now that Belobog had weathered a major crisis and the apocalyptic threat had been temporarily averted, things were beginning to stabilize. However, during this chaotic period, the museum had also run into some trouble.

With the city gradually settling down, and with Seele—now an official Trailblazer—bringing back essential resources from other planets to help Belobog's reconstruction, progress was being made.

The big shots had their own responsibilities, and as an intelligence officer, Pela had her own tasks to handle.

But…

"Eh? Pela? So you're here~"

The familiar voice immediately snapped Pela out of her thoughts. She looked up and saw some familiar faces.

"It's you all! Trailblazers. I never expected to see you again. This is a pleasant surprise! How have you all been?"

Pei Guang grinned. "We've been doing great! We've already explored another new planet!"

Stelle turned to Pei Guang. "Wasn't it a ship, not a planet?"

Pei Guang shrugged. "Details! The important part is, we saved the world again!"

March 7th crossed her arms and proudly added, "That's right! We saved the world yet again! You wouldn't believe how dangerous it was this time—so intense, so thrilling!"

Pei Guang then asked, "But what about you? How have things been for you?"

Pela gave a small smile. "Things have been much better. Now that the influence of the Stellaron has faded, the entire atmosphere of Belobog has become much more lively. And that's all thanks to your efforts. As for me, I've been doing well too. Thank you for asking."

Pei Guang then turned his gaze toward the large building nearby. "By the way, on our way here, we ran into a girl named Lynx. She mentioned that this building behind the fountain is the History and Culture Museum and that it has all sorts of interesting things inside. But it doesn't look open yet?"

Hearing Pei Guang's question, Pela's eyes lit up with enthusiasm as she began explaining.

"This building is the Belobog History and Culture Museum. It has stood here for over six hundred years. When you first arrived in Belobog, you happened to catch us in the middle of its once-in-a-decade renovation. That's why it wasn't open to visitors.

"After the Stellaron crisis, we were able to allocate more manpower to accelerate the renovation process, and the museum should be reopening to the public soon. However…"

Hearing the word "however", Stelle blinked. "However?"

March 7th smirked. "Ah, according to Ah Guang's experience, that pretty much means there's a quest waiting for us."

Pei Guang nodded. "That's right! It's obvious there's a task here. Miss Pela, just tell us what needs to be done. But—on the condition that the pay is good~"

Pela glanced around, took a deep breath, and lowered her voice. "Well... the renovation work has indeed run into some obstacles. The Silvermane Guards are doing their best to handle it, but..."

Pela noticed some people heading towards the hot spring nearby and spoke even more quietly. "This place is too open. I don't want my words carried away by the wind. Since you were planning to visit the museum anyway, why don't I take you inside for a tour? We can discuss this matter along the way."

Pei Guang grinned. "No problem! I've been looking forward to this." He then turned to Stelle. "See? Just like I said—whenever we return to a previous location after finishing a main quest, there's always a new mission waiting. Looks like we'll have another round of fun."

Seeing that the group had time to spare, Pela smiled. "Then let's go. We'll talk inside."

She led Pei Guang, Stelle, and March 7th into the museum. The moment they stepped inside, the three of them were immediately drawn to the exhibits.

Pela stopped at a vantage point where they could see most of the museum and began her introduction. "Welcome, Trailblazers, to the Belobog History and Culture Museum. As you can see, after nearly a hundred days of renovation, the interior has been completely transformed.

"This museum was originally built to commemorate the first Supreme Guardian, Alisa Rand, as well as the fallen heroes who risked their lives in battles against extraterrestrial invaders. Over time, its scope expanded to include a broader range of exhibits, evolving into what you see today."

After briefly explaining the museum's history, Pela guided them into the exhibition hall.

"Beyond the reception hall is the General Hall, the largest section of the museum. This area contains a diverse collection of exhibits, ranging from renowned artworks to geolith samples, giving visitors an in-depth understanding of Belobog's culture in just a few minutes."

As he listened to Pela's explanation, Pei Guang scanned the exhibits and nodded. "It's true. Even without reading the descriptions, just looking at these displays, I can already get a sense of what Belobog has experienced over the past six hundred years. These seemingly simple exhibits carry the weight of their respective eras' history.

"It makes me reflect—a generation, or even several generations, might spend years or decades fighting against something, but when it gets written down in history books, it's reduced to just a few sentences. Compared to dry text, tangible artifacts are far more engaging."

For players, while many enjoy skipping through storylines to get straight to action, they also have a deep curiosity about a world's history and culture.

Instead of long, tedious narratives, experiencing history through real objects and environment design is an irresistible temptation.

Players are paradoxical in nature—ignoring key plot points when presented in cutscenes but eagerly piecing together lore hidden in architecture and item descriptions. It's an almost rebellious way of experiencing a story.

While Pei Guang was engrossed in studying Belobog's history through the exhibits, March 7th took out her camera. Just as she was about to snap a photo, she hesitated and asked, somewhat sheepishly, "Um, is photography allowed here?"

Pela smiled. "Of course!"

March 7th beamed. "Awesome! Let me take a ton of photos for your museum!"

As Stelle observed her surroundings, taking in the transformations of Belobog's history through the Generall Hall, she softly murmured, "So this… is what it means to understand."

Pei Guang heard Stelle's whisper. "Understand? I suppose so. Understanding a world's background is something players should do... But why does it feel like there aren't enough exhibits here? There are so many display cases, yet the number of artifacts is so small—it's kind of frustrating! Wait a minute, don't tell me you're about to give us a—"

Before he could finish his sentence, the ever-perceptive Pela had already caught on. With an excited expression, she coughed twice and led the group to an empty display case. "Just as you've guessed, we have a problem…"

Stelle glanced between Pei Guang and Pela, her brain working at full speed. She clapped her hands together and spoke seriously. "I got it! It won't open, right? Leave it to us!"

As she spoke, Stelle pulled out her bat, which began glowing with a vibrant blue light. Without hesitation, she raised it, ready to smash the display case into pieces.
