Chapter 355: Chapter 354: Jing Yuan’s Unpaid Ad Internship
Jing Yuan remained silent. In fact, even if it weren't Pei Guang but anyone else asking him to record something like this, he wouldn't refuse—on the condition that it remained anonymous and that no one ever found out it was him.
To him, this was an interesting experience. Getting the chance to personally voice an advertisement like this? That sounded pretty cool.
Unfortunately, the Six Charioteers wouldn't allow him to do such a thing, nor would anyone else in the galaxy dare to suggest it. Only Pei Guang, someone who felt oddly familiar and amusing to him, would come up with such a request.
Besides, if it were anyone else, he might worry they wouldn't keep their word. But Pei Guang…
Jing Yuan smiled. "Sounds good! But judging by the ad's lyrics, you're planning on making fried chicken?"
Hearing the words "fried chicken," Bailu's eyes lit up. "What? Ah Guang, you're making fried chicken?"
Jing Yuan raised an eyebrow. "Oh? You didn't know?"
Bailu shook her head. "Nope! I only knew Ah Guang was opening a snack shop, and he wanted me to be the mascot! Heehee, he told me I could eat as much as I wanted in his shop!"
Jing Yuan chuckled. "What about me, then?"
Pei Guang waved a hand nonchalantly. "Same deal—eat as much as you want."
Jing Yuan laughed. "Well, now I'm even more motivated to help. What do you need me to do?"
With that, Jing Yuan was on board. Since he was supposed to be resting anyway, finding something fun to do wasn't a bad idea. Besides, once this break was over, the Alliance would no doubt summon him for reports. That would be the real headache.
Pei Guang grinned. "Simple. Just follow my instructions and sing these lines when I cue you! I promise, once you record this ad, it'll go viral across the entire universe!"
Jing Yuan smirked. "Alright, let's do it."
Jing Yuan was genuinely interested. As long as it didn't pose a threat to Luofu or the Xianzhou Alliance, he was happy to participate in all sorts of things—especially if they were fun.
Xianzhou's technology was advanced enough that professional recording equipment wasn't necessary. Even in the noisiest environments, specialized recording devices could capture clear and precise sound. A user-friendly editing system would make it even easier to produce polished audio.
Meanwhile, back in Aurum Alley, Stelle had just finished coordinating with Mingxi and the people at Heron Express.
Due to recent circumstances, all computational resources in Luofu were being prioritized elsewhere, meaning logistics route planning—something that could be done manually—was left to individual businesses to sort out.
The task itself was simple: connect the start and end points, determine the most resource-efficient route, and finalize the logistics path.
"There! There! And there! I really am a genius!"
Just as Stelle was triumphantly admiring her handiwork, Pei Guang and the others returned to Aurum Alley. The moment they arrived, they were greeted by the sight of Stelle grinning smugly.
Pei Guang called out, "Yo, looks like someone's having fun."
Hearing his voice, Stelle looked up and beamed. "Of course! This route-planning thing for Heron Express is super fun! If I could, I'd love to keep doing it!"
Mingxi chimed in, "As long as we can get more people involved, you'll definitely get to connect all the routes you want."
Stelle's eyes sparkled. "That sounds amazing! Oh, right, Ah Guang, how'd things go on your end?"
Pei Guang smirked. "Very satisfying! That guy won't be bothering our Aurum Alley development plans anytime soon. What about you? Did you manage to dig up any crucial info?"
Stelle nodded. "Yep! Ah Guang, Aurum Alley really does have a big crisis, just like you guessed. We're definitely gonna need to step in. Hmm… I don't remember all the details, though. Teehee! Hey, Little Secretary, you explain it!"
Mingxi explained the situation in Aurum Alley to Stelle and Sushang before, but… well, it went in one ear and out the other for Stelle. It was as if she had skipped the entire cutscene—she had no idea who she was, where she was, or what was happening. She only wanted to keep connecting routes!
To her, the logistics planning for Herun Express was incredibly fun. It might have been too easy for a child, but for her, it was just the right level of challenge.
Pei Guang shrugged. "No problem. If the opposing force is the Interastral Peace Corporation, then it's simple—we need to revitalize Aurum Alley, making sure it's still full of delicious food, great drinks, and fun activities!"
That statement hit Bailu right in the heart. She nodded vigorously. "Exactly! Ah Guang summed it up perfectly. Aurum Alley can't disappear—there are so many good things to eat here! If it's gone, I won't have anywhere to go!"
To Bailu, this place was heaven. If it were gone, finding another food paradise would be incredibly difficult.
Sushang, who had been standing quietly beside Stelle, finally spoke. "I really want to help Aurum Alley too. If it were some skilled criminals, I could take them on in a fight. But this… this isn't something I can solve with fists alone. I don't know what to do, so I have to rely on you all…"
Pei Guang chuckled. "You're being too polite. Besides, who says you're useless? In my eyes, everyone has their purpose. Even the Antimatter Legion can be used for power generation!"
For a player, no card was ever truly useless. What? You say this character is only good as fodder? Then feed them to another character! If they're completely worthless, at least they can be collected.
Of course, this was just an extreme example. Pei Guang already had a plan to revitalize Aurum Alley.
Hearing his words, Sushang's eyes lit up. "Me? What can I do? Just tell me what you need, and I'll do it!"
Pei Guang grinned. "Of course you're useful. You have to remember—even trash can be used to pave roads. And you, a beautiful young lady like you? How could you possibly be useless?"
Sushang hesitated, a bit flustered. "Um, my looks are pretty average…"
Pei Guang shook his head. "No, no, no. You have a unique charm. Just standing there, you have this pure, untarnished aura, like someone who hasn't been tainted by the world. If we put you in an advertisement as a passerby, the effect would be incredible."
Sushang blinked. "An advertisement?"
Pei Guang nodded. "That's right. Since Aurum Alley is famous for its food and entertainment, I'm planning to set up a food stall here. And, I've got someone recording an advertising jingle for our snacks. I think you'd make the perfect brand ambassador."
March 7th turned to Pei Guang. "But aren't we supposed to be consultants for Aurum Alley? If that's the case, shouldn't we focus on developing the entire area, not just our own stall?"
Pei Guang nodded. "Of course. But they're not mutually exclusive. Helping Aurum Alley thrive is one goal, and setting up our own food stall is another. A side mission within the main mission—multiple layers of gameplay! That's where the fun is."
Bailu, however, was more interested in something else. She looked at Pei Guang with curiosity. "Ah Guang, you've been talking about making snacks, about making fried chicken. Can I try some now? We've been running around all day, and I haven't eaten anything—I'm starving!"
March 7th added, "Ah Guang, your fried chicken… you're not gonna use that pot, are you?"
Pei Guang smirked. "Don't underestimate me! My fried chicken will be delicious even without that pot! But my cooking method… well, it has a lot in common with that pot's style."
