Chapter 13: Petrova fire
Katherine woke up feeling refreshed. She really likes the nights when Elijah Grace's her with his broad chest so she can fall asleep soundly.
"Good morning." Elijah said watching her wake up.
"You are usually long gone by the time I wake up. What do you want to talk about?"
"The fact that my brother has been sneaking into your bed at night. Do you know about it?" Elijah asked with a very calm voice. Even Katherine couldn't tell there is storm brewing inside him and one answer can possibly set him off.
"No, he comes in but usually sits on that chair. If he sneaks in the bed I'd here it and wake up. It is only possible for him to do that because of you."
"What do you mean? I am somehow to blame for this?"
"I meant the only time I fall asleep to this extent is when you are here. So naturally I would wake up to the smallest of sounds when I'm sleeping alone."
"But he has been very quiet lately, no snarky comments or funny words he just seats and watch me work until I am asleep and when I wake up he is already in the garden."
"Perhaps you should expel him from your home? He did go over board yesterday." Elijah suggested trying not to sound excited.
"Perhaps, but when are you making up your mind? He could be back to life in one day Elijah all you have to do is give in to me and become my husband. Is it really so bad?" She asked plainly.
Elijah had no excuse. He had just been caught off guard when he heard her proposal the first time and she had done it in the presence of so many people. Does she have no shame? To just come out and propose to someone like that?
"You really make me speechless Katharina when you speak so bluntly." He tries to hide his smile and kissed her. In the mouth, she hasn't even brushed her teeth and he got in there and explored to his heart content leaving Katherine breathless.
She felt her body becomes heavy as if she lost strength. Luckily she had still been in bed. She became completely undone in his arms, lost in the passionate kiss that is imprinting her with his mark. He is not just kissing her, he is dominating her, completely occupying her every being.
One long kiss but she is now is, she can feel his possessiveness over her. He is telling her she belongs to him. She blinks with hooded eyes a little lost and dizzy from all the attention. She looked at him gobsmacked and speechless. She blinked several times trying to come back to her senses. What just happened?
"Elijah." Her voice hoarse and laced with need. That one kiss has made every part of her body crave his attention, his touch. She swallows and watches his lips with intense. He moved his hand and brought her entire numb body to himself.
He laid her on top of him and looked deeply into her eyes. She is a little confused. He can see her confusion clearly, this makes him laugh happily. "Katharina." He calls her name and her body shivers at the sound.
Her face is flushed, her bright brown eyes are covered in a haze of lust. He can feel her need for him. She is in his complete control at this moment. He swallows.
"When you say marry, do you understand the implications? I have been in love but never married for an important reason. If I marry, it has to be forever. There is no other alternative Katharina. You will be mine and I will be yours. Do you understand this?" He looks at her.
She can't find her voice. Gods this man, she had known it the moment she saw him. He will definitely be enough for her. She nods quickly.
"You have to think very carefully Katharina, even if someday I can't help you fall asleep you can not look at another man. Do you understand?"
"Yes." She finally found her voice. She can not have him think she will be interested in anyone else at any given point in time. She wants this man not someone else.
"Alright. Remember you said this yourself. We will marry when you are ready." He got up and left.
"Umm..." She looked at herself and sigh. This is what it feels like to be neglected. She took a cold shower today. After cooling down the heat that Elijah woke up inside her she skipped to the gym happily.
The children are gone to visit their families as it is holidays in school. She is alone if we don't count Kol's gloomy ghost form.
She created a large stone made of hard clay and turned it into a stone table large enough for a human to sleep on. Then she started carving runes using her special ink. An hour later the stone bed was completely covered in rune language.
Later she will ask Kol to lay on the stone but if she has his ashes it will be easier. The amount of soul power she will need to consume will reduce. Luckily the supernatural creatures in this world are taken to the other side upon death so in a way they are just imprisoned and all she has to do is take their form back. The space will crack a little but it will be able to mend itself back up.
The one in charge will be able to feel this however, Katherine is not so worried about this. What she wants is to finish the job.
"Miss Katherine, there is a group of people in the garden looking for you." Mia who works for her as a maid in the estate called her.
"Shall I bring tea?" Mia asked politely.
Katherine looked at the four people sitting in the stone table under the tree. Katherine turned to Mia and smiled. "No need. They won't be staying for long." Hearing Katherine, the group understood they are not welcome here.
"May I help you?" Katherine puts on a polite smile but it is obvious the smile is fake.
Bonnie looked at Katherine and realized she hadn't really looked at Katherine in a long time. Standing there in an informal attire she looks absolutely beautiful. The skin is glowing with luster and then there's her clean face. She seem like a fairy come to life.
"Hello." She spoke again, it seems everyone has been gawking at her the entire time. Even Elena looks to be angered to a cartoon character.
"We are worried that Elena has eaten something un clean. She won't stop telling the truth." Caroline said first.
"So? Take her to a hospital so they can pump it out." Katherine frowned in displeasure.
"She slept with Damon." Bonnie said earning a look from everyone. Katherine sighed.
"I can't change the past. Even if I could, what to stop her from doing it again? I really fail to see what brought you to me. Whenever I said something to any of you, Stefan would bark about how much of a liar I am. Damon would pretend to listen to me but is actually just using that chance to make Elena jealous. So I fail to see what is it you want from me."
"Gosh, Katherine, can you stop whining about how we didn't listen to you back then and help us now? Are you ever going to let that go? It's getting old don't you think? You are just bitter that Stefan ignored you and Damon is over you." Elena finally said.
Katherine is in front of her in seconds and a resounding slap rang across the garden. Elena fell to her back and swallowed a few of her teeth. Katherine took out a cloth and wiped the blood off her hands.
It is odd that no one came to help her get up. She showed a hurt expression but seeing none of the people around coming to her rescue like always she became wise and got up on her own.
"When I was staying at the Salvatore house I knew I was not welcome, same as when I was at your house. You said some pretty hurtful stuff that time but I always brushed it off because it was not my place to complain. I was also trying to make amends to you so I took it. Not to mention my own poisonous tongue but Elena. This is my home."
"You don't come into my home and disrespect me. Moreover, you always get away with whatever nonsense you pull because you have the witch servant and the vampire pets brothers but aren't you forgetting something? All these cards you have to protect yourself are not worth mentioning in front of me."
"The next time you speak to me unprovoked you had better remember yourself. Human, weak and very fragile." She sat down after taking blood from Iren.
The smell became too much for Stefan and the others. But remembering what just happened they all wisely kept to themselves.
"Now, what seems to be the problem?" Katherine spoke once more.
"Elena seems to be under something's influence that makes her feelings intensified and her ability to hide her thoughts is basically gone." Stefan said.
"Why would you think to come to me?" She blinked.
"Because this is something you would do. No offense." Caroline said and the garden became quiet.
"Hi Caroline, I see the spirit is still as bright as ever." Katherine clicked her tongue.
"Hi, Katherine. Where is everyone?" She looked around.
"They went to travel during the holidays. I try not to restrain them too much. They are still young and should enjoy it." Katherine answered Caroline.
"Aren't you worried about their safety?" Caroline asked with worry.
"No, but you seem to be." Katherine smiled a sly smile. "Who is it? Jake? That one is a charmer, maybe June, he could use some of that brilliance you so easily exude." She said guessing.
"It's Nate." Bonnie said quickly.
"Defensive are we?" Katherine chuckles.
"Anyways about miss Gilbert, things like truth weed don't last for too long. So it will just take time for whatever it is to stop working." She said.
"No, she has turned into a completely different person. Please fix her." Bonnie sounded desperate.
"Gods, Bonnie you are insufferable. So judgmental. It sounds to me like she just followed her heart. Why is this such a big deal?"
"Elena would never look me in the eyes and say she loves my brother and me and that we should try and make it work all three of us. What kind of arrangement is that?" Stefan said with visible pain.
"Is it so hard that a girl will love the two of you together? I saw this coming, why didn't you?" She tilted her head.
"I didn't see it coming. Why would you think it will happen? Elena is not you!" Bonnie asked with a frown.
"Because they complement each other. One Stefan plus one Damon equals a fully functioning man. Alone they are incomplete." Katherine said.
"I do not need my brother for my girlfriend to be satisfied." Stefan took offense.
"But you do lack the one thing Damon has in abundance. Fire. You are too rational because you have to always be in control since one mistake will release the ripper. While Damon can control his blood lust just fine. This gives him the ability to be reckless and impulsive but able to pull the reins back if he needs it."
"If Elena asked you to do something, she is without a shadow of a doubt that you will see it through because you are a rational, trust worthy person. This quality is good. But a girl needs some danger, excitement and all that. Damon fulfills this part for you. But he is also not reliable which is why she still needs you to keep him in check. You see it now? Two halves one whole." She continues to sip her cup.
"So Bonnie you shouldn't think of her as dating two people but as her finding herself a complete man." She finishes.
"That is not why we came here." Damon took offense for being called unreliable.
"In any case, there is nothing for me to gain from this request of yours, if anything I like this current situation. All those time Stefan would call me names just to gain a smile of approval from Elena. I bet he feels like a moron now." Katherine laughs happily.
"Are you saying it is not possible to love only one of them?" Caroline is interested in this topic.
"It is, However, not by someone with obvious Petrova fire inside of her burning inside of her. At some point she will compromise but deep down, she will know that it could have been so much better." Katherine can admit to herself that she said this to plant the seeds of doubt. She saw it. The two brothers exterior cracked.
"There is another way." Everyone paid attention. She looked at them amused.
"Damon should grow up, and not make Elena worry about you doing something awful in your spiral when you get upset. Be responsible and dependable. Like your brother." Damon's expression is like he ate a fly.
"Stefan get a little more exciting. Be daring and more unpredictable. Give her a little feeling of danger... like your brother." She said with a blank expression. The brothers
"Ow my God. Katherine, you are ruthless. But I can dig it.." Bonnie surprised everyone. Katherine laughed happily hearing Bonnie's gangster inner voice.
"I haven't even thought about it this way before." Caroline also added. The Salvatore brothers felt worse than when they came.
"That was harsh...but it makes sense. A tall Mikaelson came in wearing a full suit and a relaxed smile on his face. He walked to Katherine and bent down giving her a small kiss and a look. He then put her on his lap.
Katherine did pay any attention to the surprised looks on the visitors and tried to find a better spot.
"I see, she finally wore you down. Elijah, Katherine was just telling us how it is perfectly normal to love two men at the same time. Care to add?" Damon changed the topic easily.
"Umm. Two boys whom together made one whole man. I was very clear about this." Katherine mocked Damon.
"She already told me all about why she had love the two of you together. Ask Rebekah, isn't that right sister?" Rebekah came out of a corner.
"I had been eavesdropping since they came in. I even saw Katherine slap Elena into the hard floor. Hehe...such a fulfilling scene." Rebekah took a seat.
"About her loving both of them, I still think it is an excuse to be slutty. I still don't buy that it's because Damon's love is all consuming while Stefan is intense but knows to control his impulses better." She yawns.
"Elijah, what does your charming little sister want?" Katherine asked with sarcasm.
"She insisted on coming. I could never refuse her." Elijah shook his head.
"I thought we were becoming fast friends after the other night when you called me a queen." Rebekah sat next to Katherine smiling mischievously.
Katherine looked at her surprised. "Alright then my dear friend help me explain to them there is nothing wrong with Elena. It is them who are expecting her to be some angel."
"Didn't Katherine have you frozen and then destroyed your arms, shattering them into ice sand?" Caroline asked.
"Yes, and I killed you in your sleep. But we get along don't we?" Katherine smiled at Caroline.
"That is because you apologized to me. Did you apologize to her?"
"I did that because you were a harmless defenseless human when I snuffed your brilliance out and turned you into a blood sucking creature of the night. In short I was a bitch and it was uncalled for, and maybe a little evil. So I apologized because I was wrong to do so." Katherine explained to Caroline as if talking to a stupid child that doesn't understand anything.
"On the other hand, Rebekah is a 1000 year old first female vampire in the world. She is no victim, not to mention she wasn't being very nice to you my little bright fledgling whom I am liking less and less these days." The words got colder as the statement got to the end.
"We were at war, now we are not at war, in fact we are going to become a family. We are going to have a long time to kill each other and fight for each other like normal families do. You don't worry your pretty head about it." Katherine said holding Rebekah's hand.
Rebekah gave her a smile in return and then looked at the Salvatore brothers.
"What seems to be the problem with her loving the two of you? Aren't you brothers? This way the three of you wont be separated and your bond will be stronger than ever." Rebekah said. She then looked at Katherine and Elijah who seem surprised by her calmness.
It is known she is fond of Stefan, normally she would use this opportunity to throw mud at her. Stefan also seems taken aback by her words. He has never imagined that Rebekah who seemed almost obsessed with him would say such words without it being sarcastic. He frowns feeling like something unfavorable has taken place here today.
Rebekah turned to Katherine. "I thought about what you said yesterday and you're right. The past should be remembered fondly but we shouldn't try to relive it. We'll regress that way." She said looking at Stefan but in her heart letting him go.
"Interesting. Dear betrothed, I like your influence on my sister." Elijah caressed her arms fondly. Katherine smiled happily.
"Alright, let's get to the business of the day. I brought ashes." Rebekah looked away from the lover's.
"Great. Just the missing ingredient."
"Wait, betrothed? You're getting married?" Caroline jumped. The rest of the group looked on in shock.
"Caroline, always quick to catch on. Now, off with all of you. The adults are busy." Katherine raised a dismissal wave and they knew they were not welcome here anymore.
"You did this didn't you?" Rebekah asked.
"I helped. But it wasn't my idea. Someone wanted the three of them to suffer. But I had thought they will pull through it somehow, looks like I gambled and lost." Katherine laughs.
"Come, Kol is pouting." She took the vase and left to the room where she normally makes medicine. The siblings waited a distance away but they can see inside. That is how Katherine is able to keep an eye on her medical concoctions.
Travelers are not able to access what is known as nature magic but that problem is removed by the use of magic runes. They make direct connection with the magic in the air, the result are many times that of a normal spell because runes instruct the magic energy using the meaning of the rune fueled by the intention of the soul power that initiates the process.
Katherine's soul power has been steadily growing because of her spirit fox. A spell like this would take tens of travelers to execute. Katherine smiled proudly but then something caught her attention.
There is not enough power and she is not about to use her own power. She rushed out and pulled both siblings inside. The two are still lookin around the place when Katherine pours out the ashes of Kol on top of the clay bed and took each sibling's hand and started chanting the spell. It is from the travelers.
The runes will gather magic and open a crack to the other side and then when Kol is summoned by his own ashes the resurrection will occur.
The two can feel energy draining from their bodies as time goes on Katherine sends her soul power to the runes and ignites them. The area where the clay bed is located became covered with a thick magic fog.
The chanting finished and Katherine leaned on Elijah falling asleep instantly. Elijah caught her and gave Rebekah a look. "Check our brother dear sister."
Rebekah came back to her senses and walked to Kol who is lying on the clay bed looking to be fast asleep. She looked around and found a robe nearby clearly left for him. She covered him up and then slapped his face. Kol gasps awake.
"What the bloody hell Bekah I was just dead. Shouldn't you be gentle?" Kol cried out and looked around but no one else is around.
"You were pretending, why else would you put your hand there? A truly unconscious person wouldn't care for modesty." Rebekah rolls her eyes.
Kol smiles. "I wanted to be carried out like a young bride. Where is Nick? Still obsessing over our missing mother?"
"He found out how to make his hybrids. Went on a tour to find wolves. I helped him steal a lot of Elena's blood the past week she has been avoided by her friends and the Salvatore brothers so no one could protect her. Even that young brother of hers is disgusted by her so he moved in with that vampire hunter who is also a history teacher." Rebekah said proudly. She had fun knocking out Elena without anyone noticing and draining her of most her blood.
Elena was probably wondering why she is always tired these days.
Kol's face darken. "More wolves? Even now, he still wants to surround himself with those things? Unbelievable."
"Don't sulk, you have your life back. Besides your death showed people that we can be killed now. We need all the help we can get." Rebekah defended Nicklaus.
"Where is Elijah?" Kol asked. He wanted to know where is Katherine but he wouldn't ask his sister.
"Katherine fell unconscious after bringing you back." Rebekah said making Kol frown.
"It's good to have a body." Kol touched his chest making Rebekah laugh at him.
"Go and put on real clothes."
"I will just go take some in this house. I'm sure the little pup won't mind. What I am wondering is how does she perform magic when she is clearly not a witch?" Kol looked at the clay bed and saw the disappearing runes.
"This magic is ancient and pure. It didn't come from her, these symbols draws in magic from the air and she used some sort of power to activate them but it is not the familiar magic of the witches." He touches the runes as they completely disappear and the clay bed shatters.
Kol jumps away from it. "Let's get out of here." They go towards the kitchen.
"You are okay.....that's good." Elijah hugged Kol checking him to see if he is Alright.
"I am okay. Thank you for sacrificing your bachelor life for me big brother. I'll buy you a big wedding gift." Kol jokes.
"Sacrifice? You should see them together. It's sickeningly sweet. If anything, the poor girl is loosing out." Rebekah said on Elijah's expense.
"There is another party in the mayor's house. Are you all coming? It's in three days. I am going to go shop, I was wondering if she could go with me but I guess she is resting." Rebekah said.
"She is really weird. First she has me killed then she resurrected me. Women are really hard to understand." Kol scratches his head.
"She initially didn't intend for there to be blood shed, which is why she avoided killing any of us. Violent though she may be, she just wanted Nicklaus to suffer. She concluded that he is suffering by taking away his wolf." Elijah said calmly.
"Her pups are very strong, so she was avoiding having them massacred by Nick." Rebekah said. She didn't like Katherine much. But after talking to her the other day she didn't dislike her as much. Not to mention she kicked Nick's ass that day.
She won't admit it but she admires her a little bit.
"But Nick surprised her when he used a dark object to assassinate one of her new family members." Kol concludes.
"After that it was pretty much war. Whether willing or not, she had to make a show of strength. Otherwise Nicklaus would not stop there which he proved by trying again at the bar." Elijah continued.
"She anticipated his moves but the death of one of her pack mate was not something she could let go even though she would later be resurrected." Elijah says with a ghost of a smile. She impressed him.
"No offense but she was being naive if she thought there will be no price to pay after taking the wolf from Nicklaus." Kol ridiculed.
"Which is why she adjusted her plans." Elijah pointed at Kol making him wince. She had used him to show she is not afraid of blood shed.
Katherine is sleeping when she woke up due to being alerted by her sense of danger. She woke up and reached out to grab the woman staring daggers at her. The hand went through the neck, Katherine is surprised but gets ready to use her mind arts.
"Be at ease doppelganger, I was just curious." She said eyeing Katherine up and down. She cycles Katherine making a sound every now and then.
"You were just curious, yet I can see a deep seethed hate in your eyes. Just so you know, I can distroy souls just as easily as I can kill a normal human. So you better be clear about what is it that you want." Katherine said looking at her lazily. But inside, her spirit is ready to obliterate the other woman.
Qetsiya laughs. "I believe you." She said.
Katherine frowned and spoke with displeasure. "Why wouldn't you? I was telling the truth." Katherine's lazy tone is laced with a bit of hostility.
"Someone who can take back a soul from my dimension must be very capable. I just didn't expect it to be one of you. A filthy doppelganger from that bitch's descendants." Qetsiya's tone is cold now, she looked at Katherine with a glint in her eyes. She wants to kill her.
Katherine smiled. She opened her eyes and they turned pink staring into Qetsiya's eyes. Qetsiya can feel her mind defences being destroyed one by one. She avoided eye contact but it felt like this person doesn't need to look into her eyes to get inside her head. Realizing she is going to loose she disappeared from her current spot appearing farther away from Katherine.
"Look, I just wanted to know who is it that managed to pull out a soul from the other side without needing my permission. Now that I have met you I have even more questions."
"Psychic power is of his line, how are you a psychic? More importantly how are you so powerful? It took me a long time to build up those mental barriers you just demolished with a single look." Qetsiya said with an appalled expression.
"I asked you why you are here. Had you been good and answered my questions I wouldn't bother with your mind. I feel malice from deep with in you so I am not going to stand and be passive in my own territory." Katherine folded her arms.
"Understood. Why are you so strong and what exactly are you? Your blood has been altered and is no longer that of a doppelganger. Care to share?" Qetsiya regains her demeanor and asks coldly.
"I care not."
"I came to see who did it and maybe get rid of them since I cant have someone who can come into my dimension and pluck anyone they want from there. You see my problem?" Qetsiya said.
"So you came to fight? Then why talk so much? Just get it over with." Katherine's aura began to change. She is going to merge with her fox and fight. She will be able to hurt a spirit if she is partially spiritual.
Qetsiya stopped her. "No, I see now that I am not your match. So I will excuse your behavior just don't do it all the time. Death will loose it's meaning if people can be brought back so easily."
"I need to bring someone back first. Then I will curve my impulses. How about you just kick him out since I know you can do it? This way i won't have to crack open your dimension again?" Katherine smiled.
"Why would I help you?" Qetsiya asked with distaste.
"I can give you a tonic which you can take even in spirit form. It can increase the power of your mind. If you have it, your magic power will double and your mind will be stronger than ever. No one can demolish your barriers. I can see you spent a lot of time building them up. But, in less than a minute I can have half of them destroyed." Katherine offered.
"How do I trust your word?" Scepticism thick in her tone.
"You don't. I'll give you my tonic and if it's works you pay up. If it works you will owe me 5 dead. If it doesn't then you can forget we had this conversation."
"You might be thinking of double crossing me but I Already know that it works. I am only giving it to you because I was in the wrong for poking a whole into your whole. If you don't want to keep your end of the deal I'll find you in your little dimension and introduce myself." Katherine said with a chilling tone.
"A vampire and whatever the hell you are doppelganger with a conscience. Now I've seen everything." Qetsiya said with an annoying smile.
"Are you in or not?"
"Sure, if you can improve my mental strength I'll owe you ten dead. Let's hope your miracle medicine works. I'll see you soon." Her ghost form disappeared.
Katherine rolled her eyes and went into meditation to see if there's something wrong with her barrier that was supposed to keep out dead witches and any other ghost. She also needed to make that tonic with the available inferior ingredients.
Qi exist in this world but is not as abundant as in the heavenly realm so many herbs have been located by her people including a few key ingredients to a couple of special potions. Katherine had not made them because they will make little effort for her mental strength.
The others had been ignored because she has been focused on increasing her body strength and those of her people. Thinking about it now, it should be about time she received feedback from the net she had laid. Fist she will have to have Elijah on her side.
Katherine fell back to sleep but it is a light sleep. When the door to her bedroom opens she woke up. She saw Elijah bringing her a cup of tantalizing blood. She drank it and recovered her strength. The door opened again and Rebekah followed by Kol entered.
Katherine frowned, a bedroom is a private space. Elijah saw this and rubbed her back lightly making her relax. Rebekah looked around the room while Kol sat on the same spot he used to sit at as a ghost.
"Thank you darling for bringing me back." Kol waved from his seat. Katherine nodded at him with a smile.
"In the spirit of thanking you Rebekah has something to tell you." Elijah said.
"Nick followed one of your wolves to turn their pack into his hybrids." Rebekah said and sighed as if a huge load is taken off her chest.
"Why tell me now?" Katherine asked.
"At first I was happy if he does since that business with my arms. And then one of your wolves took away my spot in the cheerleading squad. But most importantly I was sure you were lying when you said you'd bring back Kol."
"I was sure you are just using this to get into Elijah's pants and when it comes to delivering you would come up with some excuses. But here he is and now I feel like crap." Rebekah concludes.
"First of all if I ever say I'll do something you better believe I'll do it. I keep my word at the best of my ability Rebekah. Well, I used to not keep my word but I am trying to turn over a new leaf." She said sadly.
Thinking about Jenna who was supposed to guide her in all these things. She doesn't know if she should be happy or sad that she found peace so soon after her death that she could find her and bring her back. This makes Katherine even angrier at Elena and her boyfriends.
"So what are you going to do about Nick?" Rebekah asked nervous.
"Don't worry about him. He will fail. Whatever he wants to do, if it is against me and mine. He won't succeed. Nick is my play mate, so of course I knew exactly what he would do if he saw my nine tails leaving town." Katherine said leaning into Elijah's shoulder.
"What are you talking about? Did you already know he is doing it?" Rebekah asked folding her arms.
"That's what I expected him to do when I allowed the kids to go back for holidays." Katherine said surprising the tree people who were expecting anger from her.
"Are you leading him into a trap?" Elijah asked worried.
"No, I did inform all the near by packs of his arrival. I expect mine to be the only pack within thousand miles. If he goes there, he will find my clan waiting for him."
"Is he going to ...." Kol thinking Klaus is probably going there to destroy the pack.
"No, he is there to gain an upper hand on me. Taking my stronger, more resilient wolves for himself and give me a fuck you in return." Katherine says lazily.
"What will happen instead?" Elijah asked intrigued.
"Why don't you call him and find out?" Katherine smirks.
"You are one crazy woman." Kol said with a thoughtful expression.
"After staying in my house and seeing the power of my people, anyone would be tempted. A man like Nicklaus, used to getting whatever he wants and is a master of schemes and mind games. I can tell what he will do even if I use my toes to think about it for a minute.
pl" She chuckles lightly.
"Such a restless spirit. Your brother's weakness is that he is used to being the smartest person in the room. He underestimates everyone. He couldn't use power to best me so he will use what he is best at. Scheming and traitory. The problem is the game is rigged against him."
"Use normal words to speak Katherine." Rebekah lost patience.
"He will never ever be able to turn any wolves under my rule. I had told him that my family is Klaus proofed." Katherine said and Kol laughed happily.
"Are you angry with us for what he did?" Elijah asked. He didn't know how to feel about her referring to his brother as a play mate. He doesn't want her to be angry with them but her calmness is a bit unsettling.
"You can't fault a leopard for having spots." She said lightly making people in the room uncomfortable.
"I have already felt death of two of my people. He must have an idea of what is going on by now." She had felt two people die just a moment ago. They died at the same time. He must already have a successful hybrid.
Elijah's phone rang. "Elijah, you wouldn't happen to be in the company of your future wife would you big brother?" Klaus's voice came from the other side.
"Nicklaus, you sound picky. Tell your future sister in law. I know a few remedies that can pick your spirit right up." Katherine's cheerful voice reached Klaus's ears.
"Where are they? If they don't feed they'll die. Is that what you want? For all that work you put into building their strength to go to waste? Give them back."
"Ow they will come back to life Alright. But Nicklaus, they will remain wolves. You see, my people wish to remain wolves, grow old, have children and die of old age. The process will remain that way. That is what I promised them and they offered me their loyalty and affection." She smiles hearing his growl.
"You see, they are not only loyal to me but they love me Nicklaus. They will give up their lives for me because I gave them freedom to be who and what they want to be and strength to protect themselves from the likes of you. You on the other hand, want to enslave them and take away their humanity. You are like that guy who enslaved people in the past. So disgraceful." Katherine laughed hearing Klaus's breathing increase. He is very angry now.
"I will find a way to turn this powerful group of werewolves into my own army of hybrids. You just wait." He said with a growl.
"Yes and I am Santa Claus. Hehe..." Katherine said with glee making the people in the house look at her as if looking at an alien.
"Brother, perhaps you should come back home, we still don't know what happened to mother." Elijah tried to advise.
"Hey Nick. Having fun?" Kol shouted.
"Is that?" Nicklaus asked Elijah in disbelief.
"In the flesh. You still owe me a drink you wenker." Kol laughed happily.
"She actually did it?" Disbelief evident in his voice. Did they all believe she was just making things up?
"I really want her wolves though." He gritted his teeth.
"You can't have them. Sorry not sorry." Katherine said.
"I will allow you to keep your pack since you kept your word and gave back my brother but this is not over." He dropped the call. He is angry because what he just said was empty threats he has been out here for a few days and none of the wolves want to leave that clan.
He is not reconciled. How can someone who is not even a wolf have the power to possess such a strong army and be able to keep such a firm grasp on it? He took the 8 wolves he had managed to get and left the place.
Back at Katherine's bedroom.
"You have angered him." Rebekah said helpless. Where can there be such a crazy woman? Perhaps only such a person would dare to marry one of them.
"Can the two of you cease this thing going on between you? I can feel a headache." Elijah asked but Katherine chuckled.
"Elijah, I didn't antagonize him. He is the one who doesn't want to give up. Pride is one of the seven deadly sins."
"I may have guided him towards the cure for his little hybrid problem." She smiled.
"What do you mean?" Kol asked intrigued.
"That day during the negotiations for the terms of his surrender. I told him I didn't take away his bloodline he can still sire hybrids if he fixes his little problem. He must have put two and two and came up with the answer. Which I already had. The human doppelganger blood."
"Finding this out had made him regain his confidence and renewed his interest in my wolves." She said.
"But you knew this would happen if he figured out how to make his hybrids so why give him hope?" Kol asked
"The same reason I allowed him to break his curse. You must have thought about it, why did I not interfere with the ritual?" She asked and they nodded. She just smiles and doesn't tell them anything.
"I have a theory." Kol said with a spark in his eyes.
"Nick spent all that time looking for you because he couldn't break his curse. Had he broken it then. You would have died but then he would have been unable to sire any hybrids." Kol said in excitement.
"He is able to do it now because they found a way to bring back the doppelganger." Rebekah added.
"Isn't it devastating when you can see your goal but you just can't have it?" Katherine said reaching out to something but catching nothing instead.
"You wanted him to despair?" Rebekah said.
"If it was someone else but Nicklaus is too clever. I'm pretty sure he would have figured it out that day in the gym. He had everything he needed, a witch a wolf and a doppelganger. His luck is astonishing. That is why I showed myself at that moment. Give him another devastating blow just when he is about to succeed." She said.
"Then I dangled my very powerful wolves in front of him, making him salivate. Allow him to find out he can sire hybrids but deny him the ideal army he really wants. Even if he gets an army now, it will pale in comparison to mine." She concluded making the people in the room take in sharp cold air.
"So devious." Rebekah spat. Shivers went up their collective spines.
"Hey don't blame me. We were supposed to have been finished fighting by now. But what did he do? He smiled at me and then plunged a knife through my back." Katherine retorted.
They shut their mouths at that statement.
A light nock came from the door. Katherine opened and found Mia. Her maid. " Miss Katherine, a lady named Tessa is looking for you." While still talking, the door opened wide and Qetsiya came inside.
"It's okay Mia, go somewhere else. This new visitor is not a nice person." Katherine smiled at her and Mia bolted away. Qetsiya rolled her large eyes at her statement.
"Can we get out of my bedroom? All these different scents invading my private space is making me antsy." Katherine opened the door kicking everyone out.
Qetsiya looked at the three other people in the room and snorted. "First vampires. How original. Your mother is a constant trouble maker in my dimension." She walked out of the bedroom followed by Katherine who is leading them towards the seating area.
"One of my descendants had said she knew you before. Emily. Is she telling the truth?" Qetsiya walked around the house inspecting everything she touched.
"Who is this gorgeous lady? I'm Kol Mikaelson, charmed I'm sure." Kol kissed her hand and she curtsey.
"Qetsiya but call me Tessa. Qetsiya is so ancient sounding, don't you think?" She blinked.
"You're Egyptian aren't you?" Elijah asked.
Qetsiya just smiled at him but didn't answer. She looked at Katherine with narrowed eyes.
"Old Bennett blood, this is interesting. So, you are the one who created the other side? You must be old no?" Katherine asked
"I have been on the other side for over two millennial. "
"Quiet the beauty, but why have you come so soon?" Katherine asked cuddling Elijah's arm.
"I got excited. These days I don't get a lot of entertainment. You seem interesting. When are you going to start of the potion?"
"I am tired from raising the dead. Give me a day or two. Why the rush?" Katherine looked at her lazily.
"You are not staying here. Go somewhere else, in fact go to the Bennett house." Katherine said with a yawn.
"Are you really the one who created the otherside? Couldn't you make it more fun? It is so cold, and lonely there." Kol whined.
"Why did you make it?" Katherine asked.
Qetsiya looked at her "Curiosity killed a cat. Do give me my potion before I get impatient." She said looking at Katherine.
Katherine got out of Elijah's arms and stood up infront of her. "I see that your hate for my ancestor has made you dim witted." Katherine said tilting her head and sending a violent shock wave through her mental space.
Qetsiya stagers and raised her hand. Katherine can feel the temperature of her blood rising. She smiles at the old witch. This would have been scary had she not boiled herself inside a medical soup for an entire day. Not to mention her body is not something a mere witch can alter with her feeble mind.
She got into the surface of her head and made her think she is boiling her blood. Qetsiya held her head and sweated. Katherine had just given her a small taste of the pain she felt while boiling in the medicine soup.
"Your mind is fragile, it is okay for you to be presumptuous and come into my home in invited but you dare to raise your pitiful strength against me? Let me up the scales a bit. To remind you you have a body now, and I can play with it as much as I want." Katherine's voice sent shivers on to the on lookers.
"Stop." Qetsiya said through clenched teeth.
"What's the magic word?" She increase the temperature again making Qetsiya scream.
"Please!" She shouted making Katherine smile.
"There, manners. Before showing people your power inside their own territory, try taking care of your own affairs first. I hear the original witch is causing quite the stire in your dimension." Katherine blinked.
"Is she talking about our mother?" Rebekah asked Elijah who nodded.
"Why should I bother with the struggles of an ant? She will squirm and struggle but it will be futile. In any case it is my dimension. I have had far more powerful witches challenge me. Besides, I know what she wants and I am not bothered by it." Qetsiya said sitting on a couch feeling like her body is no longer melting.
"Whatever, please leave my house before I get impatient."
"No. This place has thick magic in the air. Just seated herein can feel my magic replenish itself." Qetsiya said unbothered by the shamelessness of her statement.
"Fine, I will drag you out. With my teeth." Large fox fangs came out gleaming dangerously making Qetsiya shiver thinking about the sting as they sink into her flesh.
She shrank her neck subconsciously. "Wait, I just want to stay here until you deliver from your end." She said. Katherine can see that she is just bad at communicating with others. She must be worshipped and has all her orders executed without question.
"Alright. But no un provoked temper tantrums, or you will leave this place in pieces."
"So violent." She turn to Elijah with a tilted head. "How do you stand it?"
Elijah is speechless. How does he answer?
"I am not violent with him." She hears a clearing of a throat and remembers all those times she broke his bones.
"....Anymore." She said.
"Besides we were not together then, and we were at war." She rolls her eyes.
"You don't ask so many questions." Katherine sat down.
