The Forsaken Heiress' Comeback

Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Mind Games

"I will marry him." Said Vivienne with an unapologetic look, pointing to the one and only Adrian Blackwood.

The crowd gasped loudly, you could see the shock that barricaded their faces, 'what was happening?' they asked themselves. As they instinctively turned their gazes to the direction of the Blackwood family where Adrian sat, a majestic handsome man that was known for his very cold demeanor and ruthless reputation of not giving anyone any zero fucks, he was the epitome of the most feared CEO who controlled all of their company enterprises, even his younger brother, Mathew who was 27, did not have a hand in any of their families' business because of Adrian.

Adrian was draped in a very dark black suit, with a white collared shirt that had a black tie perfectly resting against the collar of his shirt against his neck, he looked elegant with the addition of his expensive black shiny shoes. And from that moment when he heard the murmurs that signified he was the one being addressed, he lifted his gaze from his phone and he directly looked at Vivienne with his striking blue-gray eyes.

Damian who was still on his knees on the podium, drowned in the most dignifying embarrassment he had ever faced in his life, 'what the fuck have you done Vivienne?' He felt like pushing Vivienne down the podium so that she could already meet her end but that would momentarily put a huge stain on his reputation and his family's considering the paparazzi's were here. What a huge humiliation.

And of course, the shock wasn't just between Adrian and Damian or the crowd of the middle-elite civilians, that's what they referred to them. It sparked the whole hall, even the waiter's were gagging.

The Nobel's

"Omg, I didn't see that coming guys, I hated this girl before, but now I Stan," said Lydia Nobel as she took a sip of her wine with a smile, her brother Leonard Nobel had an indifferent expression, "What's there to muse about, this is horrendous." He clearly felt a type of way about that whole predicament.

Their father Liam Nobel scrunched his face with a bitter look, "Leonard, I swear on my life, if you ever propose to a woman that turns out to embarrass our family like this in front of the press, I swear to god, I'll be the one to cut off your balls." Leonard didn't respond but his face said otherwise, he was pissed as Lydia giggled.

"Liam, don't be too blunt, our son would never do that, give him a break," Liam's wife mother to their children, Genevieve Nobel scolded with an expression that was certainly mixed.

The Whitmore's

Their family only had Damian and his Dad but Damian's dad Michael Whitmore sat with some family friends who his father had adversely perceived them as leaching peasants but because of the press, he had to manipulate their exterior image and he was so angry at that moment that he cursed very bitterly, "I warned Damian about this flag bitch post, but he didn't listen, they never listen!" The friends who sat with him didn't say anything but you could tell from their reactions that they had mixed reactions, they didn't quite understand why Vivienne rejected Damian.

The Lancaster's

Annie and Carla were shocked, they didn't expect Vivienne to stoop this low, especially before the press, 'how could she?' Annie thought.

"Carla, if we don't find a way to get rid of this girl once and for all she's going to be a problem for us," said Annie as she hid her embarrassment and pretended to mouth to Michael Whitmore in his direction with a smile as if to say "It's only a misunderstanding."

"Don't worry mom, she's going to disappear sooner than you expect," said Carla with a dark expression as they now both looked at Vivienne but her mom looked at Carla for moment 'What did she mean?'

The Blackwood's

Adrian's father Morpheus Blackwood was the first to react, "Adrian, do you know anything about this?" he asked with a chilled look, "I don't know anything father, but let's just hope it's not a prank." Said Adrian as his cold aura of quiet menace faded shifting his gaze from Vivienne and directly looking at his father.

"Actually, it wouldn't really be bad Adrian, if you reject her, because she's totally my type," said Mathew with a mischievous grin, teasing Adrian. The dark look Adrian gave Mathew sent shivers down Mathew's spine, Mathew always feared his brother because he was so unpredictable and he always never wanted to cross his line, that mischievous grin he put earlier, died immediately as soon as it came.

"Yes I Do." the sound was faint but clear, with an assertion of dominance, Adrian replied to Vivienne.

The guests gasped again, this time it was louder even than before, with some whispering, "and to think that Jamie missed this event, the tea is sweet," said someone from another table with a smile. "Did he just say 'yes' in front of her fiancé, mmh. This is going to be interesting," said another one.

Constant pictures and murmurs from the press also filled the room as one said behind a camera that they were holding, "give us more Vivienne."

Adrian excused himself very smoothly from his seat and and he went directly to the podium, taking the microphone from Damian's hand who was still kneeling and he faced Vivienne who now looked at him face to face, eye to eye, Vivienne's courageous stunt was slowly faltering within her, she was a bit intimidated by Adrian's presence and Adrian who didn't quite have a specific reaction to his face, just the normal cool indifferent statue of a wealthy man, made it enough for him, for women in the hall to silently swoon over him.

It was until that moment, that one family friend from the Whitmore's asked, one who was siting beside Michael, he asked very courageously, "Is your son slow? Why is he still kneeling on the podium?"

And as much as Michael wanted to curse the person who addressed his son as slow, he also saw it and in his mind he was like 'You can never teach these bastards enough,' coincidentally, Damian looked at his father and he was looking at him too, his Dad did not hesitate to call him out with an angry tone, "Damian, get off the fucking podium, dammit." He finally exhaled after letting that drop of anger out, luckily, it wasn't too loud for the other people to hear because they sat close to the podium.

Damian quickly stood up and at that time he was thinking, 'why not already run away' it was like an advantage had already presented itself, he didn't love Vivienne anyway but the problem was that the world would question how quickly he gave up on his fiancé. So instead of cowering off from the podium, he stood beside Vivienne pretending to care and he directly shot a murderous look at Adrian with a demanding tone.

"What the hell do you think you're doing Adrian?"
