The First Prince of Hell is Human?

Chapter 11: Mr. Langston

{Requirement for next level: 3/100 FP}

Leo's gaze lingered on the message in silence. Remember how he gained these points as soon as he made that bold statement.

"Didn't I tell you FP stands for faith points? The more people feel inspired or moved by your actions, you gain strength."

Azakar explained while floating around Leo.

The classroom was spacious but dimly lit, with tall windows that let in only slivers of daylight through heavy curtains. Rows of sturdy wooden desks were neatly arranged, though some had scratches and carvings from past students.

The large blackboard covered most of the front wall, and a single rickety ceiling fan spun lazily overhead, barely stirring the air.

The seating arrangement was done to match the lockers outside. With the number 23, Leo's desk was at the edge of the wall, and this gave him a good view of the world outside the window, but there was nothing much to see outside trees and neatly trimmed bushes.

Buzz!

Suddenly, a figure came into view, his body covered in an oversized dark cloak. The person's face was covered by an oversized hoodie, making it impossible to tell if it was a he or a she.

Another similar figure stepped into view, and then another, and another, and another. Soon, nearly ten of them lined the bushes facing in Leo's direction and glaring at him.

This was the part where they expected Leo to show discomfort and cover the windows with the curtain, but he didn't. Leo glared at them with a look of contempt and genuine disappointment.

After a while, he simply rolled his eyes and let out an exaggerated sigh before looking away. While everyone scrambled over to their seats, he noticed a girl approaching.

Dark-skinned, thick lips framed with a short pigtail hairstyle. The most interesting thing about her was her glasses, so Leo's gaze didn't linger on her for long.

The classroom was filled with the murmurs of students settling in. Some were already forming small groups, whispering and chuckling, while others sat in silence.

It wasn't surprising, since everyone in this crowd knew themselves since middle school. The twin was a small place, so it was easy for everyone to know everyone.

The classroom door creaked as it was closed by a tall, lanky man with slightly hunched shoulders and thin-rimmed glasses that seemed too big for his narrow face.

He wore an old-fashioned suit, a little wrinkled, as if he had been too nervous to iron it properly. His thin fingers clutched a stack of papers, trembling slightly as he placed them on the desk.

'Is he on drugs or something?' Leo raised an eyebrow.

"Nope, he's a coward." Azakar chuckled.

The man cleared his throat, adjusted his glasses, and glanced at the students while his nervous eyes darted from face to face.

"G-Good morning, class," he said, his voice soft but uneven, as though he was afraid of speaking too loudly. "I—I am Mr. Langston. I will be your homeroom teacher this year."

Mr. Langston offered a weak smile that quickly faded when no one responded. A student coughed. Another leaned back in his chair, clearly unimpressed.

Mr. Langston swallowed hard and fumbled with his papers.

"Let's—uh—let's start with some basics." He turned to the chalkboard and began writing in shaky, looping script

CLASS RULES & EXPECTATIONS

He turned back, adjusting his glasses again.

"First, attendance is mandatory. M-Missing too many classes will affect your final grade."

Langston tapped his fingers on the desk, trying to find his next words.

"Second, respect is key." He gave a nervous chuckle, though it sounded forced. "No talking while I'm talking… or while anyone else is talking, really. Uh… and please, don't… um… throw things. That happened last year, and—um—I'd rather not repeat that."

A few students smirked. Someone tapped a pencil against their desk rhythmically and people giggled.

Leo didn't look over, but already knew only supernatural beings would be openly disrespectful in class, especially when dealing with weak-minded teachers like this.

"Third, homework. I—I don't give much, but what I do give, you need to turn in on time. Late work… well… let's just say I won't be happy about it."

Langston's attempt at sternness was ruined by the way he pushed his glasses up his nose with a shaky finger. He flipped through his papers again, fingers twitching.

"Grades are based on tests, assignments, participation… oh, and a final project. Yes, a project. But—uh—we'll get to that later. Just, um, do your best?" His voice lifted slightly at the end, almost as if he were asking rather than instructing.

The room remained silent; some students looked bored, some amused, and others simply indifferent. Mr. Langston gave another awkward smile before clapping his hands together—too loudly, making even himself jump.

"Alright! That's…uh…that's it for now. Any questions?"

Silence…

Leo wasn't impressed— supernatural beings were like bloodhounds; they could perceive fear from a mile away. Someone like Langston may be able to live freely since he's a push over, but he must be willing to get his pride stepped on repeatedly.

In this world you are either like Langston or you become a victim.

Leo rolled his eyes and returned his attention to the window, but the cloaked figures were gone. What their intentions were, he wasn't sure and honestly, he didn't care.

"I almost forgot!" Langston's voice drew attention to himself once again. "Every student must be…uh…involved in at least one club activity or sport."

Ding-Dong!

The bell for lunch break rang and students jumped off their seats. Mr. Langston screamed at the top of his lungs, asking students to remember they had Social studies class after lunch, but no one listened.

Leo observed people leaving the classroom. Friend groups of supernatural beings are tailed by a small group of humans trying to fit in. There were a few humans and supernatural beings who seemed to share good friendships already, and then there were humans sticking with humans, but they were the minority.

"It's still the same as it was in middle school. Nothing has changed." Leo mumbled with a slight frown.
