Chapter 8: Trade
Silas Kane had learned one thing from losing everything that empires built within borders were weak. Laws. Governments. Politics. They were temporary. But gold? Gold was eternal.
And now, as he stood in his Dubai high-rise, overlooking a city of wealth and power, he knew his empire wouldn't be built on a country. It would be built on the world. He turned, facing Jonas Wren, his most trusted enforcer.
Jonas held a tablet, displaying the latest financial reports. "The first shipments from South Africa just landed. Smuggling routes in Hong Kong are running smooth. Ortega's weapons are being moved through the Venezuelan network."
Silas smirked. Everything was falling into place. But there was still one problem left. Morrow. And this time, Silas wasn't going to wait for him to make a move.
Silas's private jet landed in Zurich under heavy security. The world's most powerful bankers and financial elites operated from the shadows of Switzerland's strict financial laws and tonight, Kane had been invited into a meeting that could change everything.
The underground financial council, a secret group of banking elites, controlled a vast network of off-the-books wealth. These weren't just billionaires. These were the men who moved the wealth of entire nations.
Seated at a private estate overlooking Lake Zurich, the meeting began. "Mr. Kane, your name carries… controversy," one banker said. Silas smiled, unbothered. "Controversy means power. And power moves money." A pause. Then, a German banker leaned forward. "And what exactly are you offering?" Silas placed a single gold bar onto the table. "I'm offering you a currency that governments cannot control. A financial empire built on something stronger than paper money."
Murmurs rippled through the room. The Swiss bankers exchanged glances. Finally, one of them nodded. "If you can make this work, you will own more than gold, Mr. Kane. You will own the future."
Silas leaned back, smirking. "That's the plan."
Elias Morrow sat in his private war room, staring at intelligence reports. Kane's name had reappeared in financial transactions across the world. South Africa. Venezuela. Hong Kong. Switzerland. The bastard was moving faster than anyone expected.
Across the table, Damian Holt, Morrow's head of security, tapped a document. "Sir, he's creating his own financial system. If he succeeds, we won't just be fighting a crime lord but we'll be fighting a sovereign power with no borders."
Morrow exhaled, rage simmering beneath his skin. "Then we stop him before that happens." Holt hesitated. "How? We froze his assets before and look where that got us. The system protects him now."
Morrow clenched his jaw. "Then we do something outside the system." Holt studied him. "Sir… are you saying we kill him?" A long silence. Then, finally—Morrow nodded. "This isn't about the law anymore. This is about stopping a war before it begins."
Holt sighed, rubbing his temples. "Then we need specialists. The kind that don't ask questions." Morrow's gaze darkened. "Get me the best." Because this time, Kane wouldn't walk away.
Silas Kane's next target wasn't just gold, it was diamonds. Precious metals had always been the foundation of power but diamonds moved quieter, faster and deeper into black markets.
And in the Congo, diamonds could buy armies. Kane and Jonas stood inside a jungle airstrip, facing Amara Biko, a ruthless cartel leader who controlled one of the largest underground diamond markets in Africa.
Biko studied Kane with sharp, calculating eyes. "You want in on my business, Kane?" Silas smirked. "I don't want in, Biko. I want to expand it."
Biko raised an eyebrow. "And what makes you think I need you?" Silas chuckled. "Because I'm going to make your diamonds worth five times more than they are now." Biko leaned forward, intrigued. "How?" Silas pulled out a black velvet pouch, pouring its contents onto the table. Diamonds. Flawless. Synthetic.
Biko's expression hardened. "Fake diamonds? You insult me, Kane." Silas shook his head. "Not fake. Undetectable. Made in labs, indistinguishable from the real thing. Your blood diamonds don't need to be smuggled anymore. We create the same product legally and push it into the luxury market. Governments won't stop it, because they won't know the difference."
Biko exhaled slowly, realization sinking in. "You're talking about a revolution in the diamond trade." Silas smiled. "I'm talking about making you richer than you've ever dreamed." A long silence.
Then, Biko grinned. "You've got yourself a deal, Kane." The handshake sealed it. Kane had just secured the blood diamond industry without the blood. And now, his financial empire was more powerful than ever.
Maya Raines sat in a candlelit café in Istanbul, a laptop open in front of her. She had spent weeks tracking Kane and following his movements through offshore accounts, hidden investments and international deals. But now, she had found something bigger.
Kane wasn't just rebuilding his empire. He was replacing the entire financial system. The files on her screen showed a web of secret transactions, hidden networks that connected banks, gold reserves, arms dealers and corrupt officials. She exhaled.
If Kane succeeded, no government on earth would be able to stop him. Her phone buzzed. A message from an unknown number. "You are playing a dangerous game, Ms. Raines. Walk away while you still can."
She looked up, scanning the crowd. Was she being watched? Her heart pounded, but she refused to stop now. Because if she could expose what Kane was doing…She could bring down the most powerful criminal the world had ever seen.
Back in Dubai, Silas Kane stood on the balcony of his high-rise, staring down at the city below. Jonas approached, his face grim. "Morrow sent an elite kill squad after you. They were intercepted, but it won't be the last attempt." Silas nodded. "Let them keep trying." Jonas exhaled. "You're enjoying this, aren't you?"
Silas smirked. "Morrow thinks this is a war he can win. But this isn't a war."nHis eyes darkened. "This is the birth of something greater." Jonas raised an eyebrow. "And what is that?" Silas looked out at the city. "A kingdom that will never fall." Because kings don't die.
They build empires that never end. And this time, Silas Kane wasn't just coming back. He was coming back to rule forever.
