The Extreme Alchemist of the Mighty Cauldron

Chapter 758 - 758: Small Group

Chapter 758: Chapter 758: Small Group

Fang Lin looked around, a puzzled expression on his face as he addressed the group of young men, “Are you talking to me?”

“Who else? You’re the only unfamiliar face here.” A particularly young man among the group said. His features were handsome, but there was a burning arrogance in his eyes.

In fact, the others in the group, one way or another, radiated borderline arrogance. It seemed that they looked down on Fang Lin.

“I’m not new here.” said Fang Lin mildly, shaking his head. He stood with a calm collected demeanor, his hands clasped behind his back, giving him an inscrutable appearance.

The group was surprised. This outsider wasn’t new here? Who was he then? Why had they never seen him around at the North Town Hall before?

“Nonsense! We know every Pill Refiner at the North Town Hall. You’re the only one we have never seen!” accused the haughty youth, pointing at Fang Lin.

...

Fang Lin gave a faint smile: “I am an old member of this North Town Hall. I’ve just been secluded in pill refining for a while, and have only emerged today.”

Upon hearing this, the group exchanged puzzled glances.

“We’ve been at the North Town Hall for over a year, and we’ve never seen you.” said a slightly obese man.

Fang Lin chuckled: “I sequestered myself for two years. Naturally, you wouldn’t have seen me.”

“Who are you trying to fool? You’ve been secluded for two years? Do you think you’re a Master of Pill? What kind of pill takes two years to refine?” scoffed the arrogant youth. He clearly didn’t believe a word of Fang Lin’s claims.

“Ignorant frog in the well, my realm is beyond your comprehension.” Shaking his head, Fang Lin turned to leave, choosing to ignore the young men.

“Stop right there!” However, these young men, resolute in their stubbornness, ganged around Fang Lin.

“What? You want to disrespect me?” Fang Lin nonchalantly glanced at the youths.

“Show us your Pill Refiner badge.” commanded the arrogant youth.

Fang Lin knew the game was up as soon as he heard the order. As soon as the badge was revealed, his cover would be blown.

“You are not qualified to see my badge.” stated Fang Lin, his patience wearing thin.

“I bet you’re a newcomer, pretending to be someone in front of us.” the arrogant youth sneered, casually looking Fang Lin up and down.

“What do you want exactly?” Fang Lin got really fed up. He had no interest in dealing with these pestering youths. If they angered him, they’d all end up on the floor.

“Nothing really, we just thought you might be a good fit for our group.” The arrogant youth smirked. His tone hinted there was no room for refusal.

“Join you?” Fang Lin was puzzled.

“Yes, join us. As long as you listen to our instructions and work for us, no one at the North Town Hall will dare to mess with you.” boasted the arrogant youth, acting extremely self-satisfied.

Fang Lin side-eyed the group. They all sneered as if they were certain he would join their group.

“Are you guys very powerful at North Town Hall?” he purposely asked.

“The fact that you’re asking this question confirms that you’ve just arrived. Not knowing about us seven persons proves how out of touch you are.” replied the arrogant youth in a condescending tone.

The obese youth explained: “The North Town Hall has many small groups. We seven are one of those groups, also, one of the strongest. As a newcomer, you’d easily get pushed around if you don’t join a group.”

“That’s right. When you join us, no one would dare to bully you as long as you follow our commands.” the arrogant youth added, as if he were doing Fang Lin a huge favor.

Fang Lin found this rather unexpected. He had not anticipated such intricate power struggles within the North Town Hall where small groups were competing in factional politics.

Looking at the self-satisfied faces of the group, it was apparent they were doing well at the hall. Fang Lin, however, held no good feelings towards them. Even if he had to join a group, he wouldn’t join this one. Besides, given their overbearing attitude, it felt less like an invitation to their group and more like a demand for subservience.

“Sorry, but I’m not interested.” Fang Lin walked away without waiting for a response, no longer bothered to banter with them.

“How dare you defy me, Qi Yu! Do you think you can survive in the North Town Hall?” scoffed the arrogant youth. With a wave of his hand, the group again moved to block Fang Lin’s path.

Fang Lin was exasperated. Was there no end to this? How did he end up in trouble without having provoked anyone?

“Did you just claim to be among the most powerful groups here at North Town Hall?” Fang Lin turned to Qi Yu, the leader of the group.

Qi Yu nodded, grinning. “So, have you decided to join us?”

Fang Lin just smiled, stepping closer to Qi Yu, with a declaration: “Then from this day forth, your group is mine and you all will follow my commands.”

Stunned by his words, Qi Yu and the other youths exchanged bewildered glances before bursting into laughter.

“Did I hear that right? Has this kid lost his mind?”

“Newcomers are always so inexplicably confident. They just can’t see the reality.”

“This is too hilarious. I’ve never seen someone so stupid.”

····

They all ridiculed Fang Lin, obviously not taking his words seriously.

“Every newcomer at the North Town Hall thinks they’re exceptional. But when they get here, they realize just how deep the waters are. You might be a genius elsewhere, but here, you’re not. There are many more talented people than you.” said Qi Yu, looking down on Fang Lin, standing with an air of superiority.

“Hmm.” Fang Lin was indifferent and without any warning, he threw a punch straight at Qi Yu’s face.

Qi Yu was shocked. This audacious brat even dares to attack him?

“Looking for death!” Qi Yu roared with anger. Although he was a Pill Refiner, he was a Heavenly Origin expert and prided himself on his strength among his peers.

He viewed Fang Lin as an insignificant newcomer with substantially less power.

Bang!

A thud was heard, as Qi Yu was thrown to the ground by Fang Lin. He laid flat on his back like a knocked-down log, displaying no hint of resistance.

Qi Yu fell flat on his back, blood erupting from his nose. He cried out in agony, his words muffled by the blood in his mouth.

The other six were taken aback. Qi Yu was the strongest among them, but he was knocked down so easily by this newcomer with just a single punch?

Without sparing a glance at Qi Yu writhing on the ground in agony, Fang Lin stood still. The punch barely took any effort. If he had put more strength into it, Qi Yu’s head might have exploded upon impact.

“How dare you! Attacking people at North Town Hall!” Just then, an angry voice echoed.
