Chapter 9
Chapter 009: Do You Recognize Her?:
Lu Ye knew Yue Hongling well.
The thing that upset her the most wasn’t being scolded or beaten.
No matter how much you scolded or hit her, her stubborn nature wouldn’t yield. Of course, maybe she just hadn’t been beaten hard enough yet.
But Lu Ye had discovered that ignoring Yue Hongling affected her the most.
That feeling of burning rage with no outlet was enough to drive her mad.
As expected, the more Yue Hongling yelled, the angrier she became. Her face flushed red, and even her neck turned crimson with fury.
She had come to vent her frustrations, but instead of finding relief, her anger only grew.
Lu Ye paid her no attention, cutting off his hearing entirely and continuing his cultivation in peace.
‘If I can’t hear you, your insults are as good as directed at yourself.’
‘Frustrated?’
‘Uncomfortable?’
‘Good. That’s exactly the effect I want!’
Soon, Bai Qiulan arrived, drawn by Yue Hongling’s yelling. Seeing her almost apoplectic disciple, Bai Qiulan frowned.
“Hongling, stop shouting,” Bai Qiulan said, trying to calm her down.
Yue Hongling’s frustration boiled over at the sight of her master, and she broke into tears on the spot.
She always acted pitiful in front of Bai Qiulan.
Sometimes, even when cultivating the Yin-Yang path, she’d break down crying before her master.
“Master, master, I only managed to form a Heavenly Core!” Yue Hongling sobbed.
“That doesn’t make sense. You have the memories of a Great Emperor and even possess the Eternal Rebellion Sutra. With just a Supreme Primordial Pill, forming a Sacred Core should have been easy. Why only a Heavenly Core?” Bai Qiulan asked, confused.
“It’s all Lu Ye’s fault! Every time I advanced before, he prepared tons of treasures and pills for me, saying they’d help me break through perfectly. So this time, I used similar methods, but instead of helping, they threw my energy into chaos and ruined everything!” Yue Hongling wailed, her voice filled with grievance.
Bai Qiulan’s expression darkened immediately.
“You’re being ridiculous! Lu Ye has an unparalleled understanding of energy. His methods for assisting your breakthroughs were precise and painstakingly calculated. Do you think you can replicate that by randomly using treasures and pills?” Bai Qiulan scolded her.
Yue Hongling was stunned.
“Huh?”
“Did you really think he just casually picked out useful items for you? Do you know how much effort he put into perfecting those combinations?” Bai Qiulan said, her tone stern.
“I once saw Lu Ye preparing for your breakthrough. His brows were furrowed in concentration, and he looked utterly exhausted. He adjusted the potency of some pills, reduced the effects of others, and tested countless combinations until he found the perfect one.”
“The assistance that made your breakthroughs feel effortless was the result of meticulous preparation. You’ve already become a Great Emperor—how could you not understand this?”
The stronger one’s cultivation, the more they’d realize how miraculous Lu Ye’s assistance was. Achieving such precision in energy manipulation was almost unimaginable.
And yet, Yue Hongling had no idea.
Bai Qiulan couldn’t believe it.
Yue Hongling was dumbfounded.
“Are you saying that every time I broke through, my senior brother spent countless hours preparing for it?”
“What do you think? Try assisting someone else with a breakthrough and see if they don’t think you’ve lost your mind!”
“That’s why, no matter how angry you are, you can’t accuse your senior brother of wrongdoing when it comes to your breakthroughs. Apologize to him now!” Bai Qiulan demanded firmly.
“No, I won’t apologize! If he hadn’t taken the Perfect Primordial Pill, I wouldn’t have even thought about using auxiliary items. It’s his fault I ended up with a Heavenly Core!” Yue Hongling retorted stubbornly.
Bai Qiulan looked at her in disbelief.
“Do you even hear yourself?”
“What nonsense are you spouting?”
“That pill wasn’t yours to begin with. In your previous life, it was Lu Ye who gave it to you. How does that equate to him stealing it from you now?”
Yue Hongling froze.
She had forgotten.
The Perfect Primordial Pill had always been Lu Ye’s, whether in her past life or this one. It had never truly belonged to her.
“You have serious issues right now. Go to the back mountain and reflect on your actions. Don’t come back until you’ve thought things through and apologized to your senior brother!” Bai Qiulan ordered.
Yue Hongling wanted to argue, but no matter how she framed it, she couldn’t justify her actions.
“Hmph! He still broke up me and Feng Wuxie and caused his death indirectly. I’ll never forgive him for that!” she said, storming off.
So be it. The back mountain it is!
Bai Qiulan sighed, gazing at Lu Ye’s closed door with concern.
“Lu Ye, are you alright?”
Inside, Lu Ye smirked. You’re worried about me? Yue Hongling I can ignore; do you really think I’ll respond to you?
When no reply came, Bai Qiulan could only leave, feeling helpless.
Meanwhile, Lu Ye’s aura surged. The Sacred Core in his dantian radiated brilliance, its surface now adorned with intricate patterns.
He had reached the fifth level of the Core Formation stage.
His cultivation speed was astonishing, far beyond ordinary comprehension.
Without burdens or distractions, his progress was unstoppable.
His extraordinary cultivation technique, unparalleled talent, and boundless determination meant nothing could block his path to sainthood.
Time passed.
Days turned into weeks.
One day, a disfigured woman, her body covered in burns and crisscrossed with sword wounds, staggered to the gates of the Great Dao Sect.
She collapsed heavily on the steps.
“Who’s there?”
The disciples guarding the gate shouted, their voices sharp.
When they saw her up close, they gasped.
Her injuries were horrific, with the most serious being a sword wound just above her dantian. It had pierced straight through her body.
The two disciples exchanged uneasy glances.
According to sect rules, they couldn’t help her without verifying her identity. She held a demonic sword—a weapon not easily overlooked. Unless someone in the sect recognized her, they couldn’t intervene.
“Bai Lan Peak… Lu… Lu Ye… I… am Chu… Ling…”
Chu Ling forced out her final words before losing consciousness.
Just then, a figure descended from the sky. His robes billowed dramatically, his aura fierce and intimidating.
However, his body bore signs of injury, and his eyes gleamed with malice.
Upon seeing the sect’s gates, he hesitated briefly before speaking.
“Disciples of the Great Dao Sect, I am merely pursuing this fugitive. I mean no disrespect to your sect. Let me take her, and I’ll leave immediately!” the man declared loudly.
He reached out to grab Chu Ling.
Clang!
A sword landed three meters in front of him, blocking his path.
“She mentioned someone in our sect. Let us verify her claim. If no one recognizes her, you may take her,” one of the disciples said firmly.
